Google Tools Google provides us with a vast range of tools that help with SEO [Search Engine Optimization] and website promotion. First of all we will take a look at Webmaster Tools. Here are some of the features, and what they are used for. Site Configuration * Sitemap submission - To get your site indexed in Google * Crawler Access - A tool that shows that Google can crawl your site without any errors.also there is a robot.txt generator to help you make a robots txt. * Site Links - Shows site links to interior pages on your site. * Change of address - Will let you use a 301 redirect from your old domain to your new one very good tool if you have changed your domain name. * Settings - Lets you choose between www. and http: as your domains address, also in these setting you can choose how fast Google will crawl your website. Your site on the web * Search Queries - This function shows the latest searches on your website for relevant keywords. It shows which keywords have been searched for, page impressions, click through rate and how many clicks the relevant keyword has had. Tip: Use the "star" function to highlight the keywords you want to keep a close eye on. I find this tool very useful because I can weed out all the other information, and see how my rankings are doing with specific short-tail terms I am going after. * Keywords - Shows keyword relevance, how many times keyword has been used and on which pages. * Links to your site - Shows relevant links to your site and the anchor text used. Good to see if your SEO is working. * Internal Links - Shows your websites internal links. * Subscriber Stats - Shows the subscribers to your site using RSS feeds. Diagnostics * Malware - Shows any form of malware relating to your website. * Crawl Errors - Shows any crawl errors relating to your website also very good for SEO making sure your pages and posts are getting indexed properly. * Crawl Stats - Shows Google bots activity on your site for past 90 days. * HTML Suggestions - Shows issues with your content.Things like:Duplicate meta descriptions, short meta descriptions,missing title tags, duplicate title tags.
