Adventure with SKUNK TRAIN RAILBIKES

It’s a one-of-a-kind adventure that gets everyone moving and smiling, all while making memories in the great outdoors. Book your family ride today.

The key to an unforgettable holiday lies in one simple question: What kind of adventure do you want to create? It could be a relaxing visit with beautiful views and a laid-back ambiance. Or, maybe a heart pumping, exercise-driven experience will do the trick. Why not blend both with a ride on the Skunk Train’s Railbikes in Mendocino County!

Imagine gliding along historic railroad tracks, reminiscing their storied past as the fresh forest air fills your lungs. A rhythmic hum of the rails rumbles beneath you and the natural world unfolds – all from the unique vantage point of a Railbike.

These Railbikes are perfect for pairs and families to enjoy. Visitors can either pedal the traditional way or opt for their electric-assisted

attachment that’s easy to operate and safe to maneuver, all with the push of a button. Riders of all fitness and skill levels are welcome to coast the rails with ease using these unique features.

Since you don’t need to steer Railbikes, riders can sit back, breathe deep, and discover Northern California’s woodlands right from their seat. Aside from the expected fern and moss species, prepare to be surrounded by native flora such as the Coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) which grow naturally from Big Sur north to the California-Oregon border, and about 12 miles inland. These majestic giants are pillars along the Skunk Train’s Redwood Route with some of them reaching over 300 feet - see if you can spot the tallest one!

Uncover a fresh sense of adventure when you book one of Skunk Train’s three Railbike experiences:

Pudding Creek Railbikes:

Pedal along the Pudding Creek Estuary, where dappled sunlight and an unobscured view of the natural world paint this route vividly. Here you can spot more native plant and animal species like “Skunk Cabbage” (a large-leafed, water-sprouting plant), blue heron and osprey, maybe even a playful river otter or a deer munching on foliage.

Your knowledgeable Railbike guides will stop along the way to share historical facts about the route and the interesting additions you can see during your visit.

Stop at Glen Blair Junction, a stunning gathering area complete with firepits, backyard games, and the perfect place to enjoy a picnic lunch, available for purchase. You’ll have time to explore their loop trail where you can walk amongst redwoods and blossoming iris and trillium plants before heading back to the depot with memories that last a lifetime.

This experience departs most days of the year.

Railbikes on the Noyo:

Discover a new side of the Redwood Route aboard this longer Railbike experience! This journey will take you 25 miles off the beaten path on a reserved

section of track along the Noyo River.

Each turn reveals a breathtaking view - trestle bridges offering sweeping panoramas, forest corridors alive with the scent of pine, and historic markers sharing memories of what came before. Soon enough, you’ll enter the iconic Camp Noyo encompassed by redwood bunches and Common douglas fir.

Here you’ll have an extensive break to stretch your legs, enjoy your complimentary picnic lunch, and take a swim in the river before heading back to the depot feeling refreshed and renewed.

This adventure departs March through November.

Moonlight Railbikes to Glen Blair Bar:

Experience an evening expedition, departing most Fridays and Saturdays, on a Railbike complete with LED lights, a s’mores kit, and free drink tokens to use at Glen Blair Bar!

After meandering your way through the forest, you’ll enter the lively Glen Blair Junction-turned late night watering hole. Here you’ll find firepits, heaters, group games, live music, and a bar offering craft cocktails, local beer and wine, and more!

As the night ends, let the LED lights guide you home under the stars.

You can experience these bikes in other parts of California, too! Ride Railbikes through the agricultural heartland of Yolo County with the River Fox Train in Sacramento, located at 18095 County Road 117, West Sacramento, CA 95691. Or breeze through Ventura County’s citrus and avocado groves with the Sunburst in Santa Paula, located at 200 North 10th Street, Santa Paula, CA 93060.

No matter the destination, these Railbikes are a reinvented way to explore California’s history and landscapes. They combine relaxation and adventure, creating an unforgettable experience that’s both exhilarating and serene. What do you say – Ready to roll?

The Skunk Train’s Railbikes depart from their Fort Bragg Depot, located at 100 West Laurel Street Fort Bragg, CA 95437. For more information about the Skunk Train and its unforgettable rail adventures, visit www.skunktrain.com or call (707)

The Red Wine Taster’s Guide Recognizing

Varietals by Flavor, Texture, & Terroir

When tasting wine, the key to unlocking a wine’s identity lies in its defining characteristics—flavors, aromas, structure, and winemaking nuances. Whether savoring a glass in a Napa Valley or Sonoma County tasting room or exploring a hidden gem along the Central Coast, recognizing a wine’s varietal can deepen your appreciation of what’s in your glass. Here are six of California’s most celebrated red varietals and expert tips for confidently identifying them.

Photo courtesy of the California Wine Institute

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is known for its bold structure, firm tannins, and deep concentration. Its hallmark flavors include blackcurrant, blackberry, and cassis, often complemented by notes of cedar, tobacco, graphite, and dark chocolate. The grape’s thick skins contribute to its dense texture and gripping tannins — recognizable by a mouth-drying sensation. A higher amount of new French oak aging imparts flavors of vanilla and baking spice. In warmer regions like Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon develops plush, ripe fruit and opulent richness, while cooler sites bring out its earthier, herbal side, with hints of eucalyptus and cedar. If a wine is rich, powerful, full-bodied, and leaves a long, powerful finish with ripe dark fruit and oak-driven flavors like vanilla, you’re likely sipping Cabernet Sauvignon.

Merlot

In comparison to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot is a softer, more approachable wine with a plush texture and a silky mouthfeel— the soft and round texture is one of Merlot’s most identifiable characteristics. Classic flavors include ripe plum, black cherry, and raspberry, often layered with chocolate, mocha, and sweet spice. Structurally, Merlot is full-bodied but lacks the tannic grip of Cabernet Sauvignon, making it more velvety and supple on the palate. Most Merlot sees French oak aging, with a mix of new and neutral barrels, so the oak-influenced flavors like vanilla and baking spice tend to be less dominant. If a red wine feels silky, fruit-forward, and easydrinking yet still structured, chances are it’s Merlot.

Cabernet Franc

Cabernet Franc is distinguished by its lighter body, bright acidity, and fine-grained tannins. It offers a balance of red and black fruit — raspberry, red currant, and blackberry — woven with more prominent floral, herbal, and mineral-like notes. Think violet and graphite. Compared to Cabernet Sauvignon, it has softer tannins, similar to Merlot, but it also has a darker overall fruit profile than Merlot and more structure. Winemakers often age Cabernet Franc in a mix of neutral and lightly toasted French oak, preserving its freshness and aromatic complexity (look for those floral aromatics) rather than imparting heavy oak influence. Cooler sites highlight its earthy side, while riper styles from Napa and Paso Robles emphasize juicier fruit and a touch of spice. If a wine is medium-bodied, aromatically expressive, and laced with herbal and floral nuances, you’re likely enjoying Cabernet Franc.

Syrah

Syrah can be dense and brooding or bright and peppery, depending on where it’s grown. In cooler regions like the Sonoma Coast, it takes on flavors of blackberry, blueberry, black olive, pepper, and cured meat, along with firm tannins and bright acidity— olive and cured meat notes are the most identifiable characteristics to watch for. In warmer climates, Syrah becomes more opulent and fruit-forward, with plush dark fruit, licorice, and sweet spice. In either climate, the varietal is full-bodied, richly textured, and deeply colored. Syrah typically sees French oak aging, offering grippy tannins. If a wine is bold, spicy, and layered with lots of savory characteristics like olives and cured meat, it’s likely Syrah.

Zinfandel

California’s heritage grape, Zinfandel is renowned for its lush fruit, rich texture, and bold spice. It bursts with ripe blackberry and raspberry, often showing jammy intensity in warmer regions like Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County. Black pepper, clove, and cinnamon are signature spices with bramble pie-like fruit flavors. Zinfandel is medium to full-bodied, with soft yet noticeable tannins and a round, juicy mouthfeel. It frequently undergoes American oak aging, which enhances vanilla flavor and adds sweetness to the fruit profile. If a wine bursts with ripe jammy fruit, peppery spice, and a smooth yet powerful presence, it’s probably Zinfandel.

Pinot Noir

The most delicate of California’s red varietals, Pinot Noir is prized for its silky texture, vibrant acidity, nuanced complexity, and light-bodied profile. It typically features flavors of cherry, cranberry, and raspberry, with earthy undertones of forest floor, mushroom, and tea leaf. Warmer sites produce richer, darker-fruited versions, while cooler climates like Sonoma Coast and Sta. Rita Hills emphasize elegance and minerality. Structurally, Pinot Noir is light-bodied with fine tannins and a supple mouthfeel. Winemakers often use light amounts of French oak to maintain the purity of fruit while adding hints of spice and toast. If a wine is light in color, aromatic, and offers a seamless balance of red fruit and earthy notes, you’ve likely found a Pinot Noir.

Recogizing red wine varietals by their defining characteristics — flavor, texture, and terroir — enhances your tasting experience and your appreciation for the craftsmanship behind each bottle. Whether you favor the bold structure of Cabernet Sauvignon, the plush elegance of Merlot, or the finesse of Pinot Noir, understanding what sets each grape apart allows you to explore California’s diverse wine landscape with confidence. The next time you taste a wine, pay attention to its aromas, texture, and finish because these details can help you reveal its true character and origin.

MIKE GRGICH

GRGICH HILLS ESTATE Coming to America

The year was 1958 when 35-year-old Miljenko “Mike” Grgich first stepped foot on American soil. His story was not so different from that of other immigrants of the 1800s and 1900s who left their homeland seeking a new life and opportunities for themselves and their families. Some sought what they had heard of as “The American Dream.” Others were escaping persecution. When Mike left his homeland of Croatia (then part of Yugoslavia), like many immigrants before him, he left with only the clothing on his back, bringing with him the dream of a new life, freedom (it was the middle of the Cold War, and Yugoslavia was a communist dictatorship). He also had $32 sewn into his shoe soles and a blue beret, which would become his trademark. There was no thought of fame – only a new beginning. There certainly was no concept that 18 years later, Mike Grgich would carve out his unique place in history by putting his stamp on Napa Valley, California, The United States, and the international world of wine, and would suddenly find himself being referred to as one of the greatest winemakers in the world.

MILESTONES: 1776, 1976 & July 4th, 1977

The Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776, an event that shook the world. Two hundred years later, in 1976, a wine event occurred in Paris, the result of which shook the wine world. One of the signers of the Declaration, Thomas Jefferson, was the third President of the United States and an avid wine collector, especially of French wines. France was also a major ally of the fledgling and just-formed United States. Therefore, it seemed appropriate that in 1976, the United States bicentennial celebration year, Paris, France, was the setting for a major wine competition now referred to as “The Judgement of Paris.” Mike Grgich made his

mark and showed that United States wine, especially Napa Valley Chardonnay, could stand up to the very best wines in the world.

The tasting competition panel was comprised of nine professional French judges. Napa Valley’s Chateau Montelena Chardonnay was entered along with other California wines and was blind tasted against the best French Chardonnays (white Burgundies). In a historic decision, the judges declared that Chateau Montelena’s 1973 Chardonnay was the best, and the highest scoring wine of the “Judgment of Paris”. The winemaker was Mike Grgich, and he became recognized as one of the best winemakers in the world, proving that Napa Valley wines deserved world-class recognition.

On July 4th, 1977 (the date was no accident), Mike Grgich broke ground on Grgich Hills Estate with Austin Hills of the Hills Bros. coffee family. Austin had a background in business and also grew grapes and made wine. Fortyeight years later, Grgich Hills Estate remains a 50/50 partnership and is still family-run, with a passion to continue to build upon Miljenko’s and Austin’s legacy.

There is more to this winery than a history of producing world-renowned wines (especially Chardonnay) and being a trendsetter; this is the great American story of immigrants, their dreams, passion, and dedication upon coming to America.

There is No Great Wine Without a Great Story

Sitting down with Ivo Jeramaz (second generation), Mike’s grand-nephew, now Grgich Hills Estate’s winemaker and VP of Vineyards and Production, we savored a glass of their 2021 Paris Tasting Commemorative Chardonnay. Ivo regaled us with vignettes, the vision and history of Grgich, and engrossing personal stories.

Ivo tended grapes on his family farm, never intending to go into the wine business.

Ten years after The Judgment of Paris, as Grgich Hills Estate was entering its second decade, Ivo, a mechanical engineer by trade, immigrated from Croatia to Napa Valley. It was 1986, and Ivo was 26 years old. Ivo had tended his father’s vineyard in Croatia, loved the outdoors, sports, and agriculture, but intended to become an engineer by trade. When Mike asked him, “What do you want to do?” Ivo realized he wanted to grow grapes and make wine. As Ivo related to us (pouring and discussing an elegant 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon, Miljenko’s Selection,) he remarked, “I came back to farming.” Not only that, but Ivo also said, “We don’t grow grapes; we raise wine.” Ivo then went on to talk about farming, agriculture, and responsibility. Continuing to sip fantastic wines, Ivo talked about his personal and family story. Grgich Hills Estate (like many wineries today) is committed to creating healthy soil through responsible farming. In 2000, they started farming organically and stopped using all synthetic chemicals. In 2006 they achieved their Organic (CCOF) certification

and Biodynamic (Demeter) certification in 2006. Most recently, they achieved the highest level of agricultural certification, ROC (Regenerative Organic Certification), whose motto is “Farm like the world depends on it.” But this goes beyond just agriculture; it encompasses fair treatment of labor, community involvement, and emphasis on healthy living.

Ivo explained that although there were definitely “hoops to jump through,” this was nothing new to the Grgich family. Growing up in a farming area within an agricultural family is how they had farmed for generations, and were responsible for preserving, protecting, and improving the health of the soil and community. As Ivo said:

“This farming philosophy is nothing new. This is what has worked in nature for 430 million years.”

We continued to sip the wines of Grgich Hills Estate (an Old Vine Zinfandel, another Cabernet, and a Plavac Mali, a unique selection from their sister winery in Croatia-learning this grape was the original Zinfandel, a native of Croatia). We then met Ivo’s son, Luke Jeramaz, one of three members of the third generation to work at the winery. Luke is a bright young man who is personable, passionate, and responsible for digital marketing for Grgich Hills Estate. He is the one to look at going forward to tell the story of three generations of the Grgich family and their Napa Valley wine. He is also the one whose responsibility it will be to continue telling the story of the history of this Croatian family from “the old country” and how there truly is nothing “new,” just new ways of tackling problems. And, in telling the story, keeping the history alive to move into the present and future, you, the visitor, will experience great wine as you taste the liquid magic. You will also feel connected and enthralled by this individual American story, yet it is typical of the great influx of immigrants over two hundred years.

IVO JERAMAZ

Violet Grgich – Keeping the Dream Alive

It’s no small job following in the footsteps of “greatness” to continue the legacy, climb new heights, and pass on what went before you with a vision of the future. It takes commitment, vision, passion, and dedication, yet this is precisely what Violet Grgich, Mike’s daughter, has done. Violet is the President and CEO and face of Grgich Hills Estate. She seamlessly melds the example set by her father and passes that on to the next generation, building a reputation that is synonymous with caring about the family, the land, and the future.

Growing up alongside her father, Violet learned every aspect of the winery business (literally

Personal comment: I had the rare opportunity to spend several hours with Ivo and learn details of Mike Grgich’s backstory and Croatian upbringing, which was truly inspiring. As we sipped, listening to the vignettes and history, learning about farming and the wines, I realized that I was not only sipping a glass of liquid excellence but that every sip represented a sip of history and the future.

from the dirt up) while learning from her mother, Tatjana, a humanitarian leader in her own right, the importance of philanthropy.

Respect for people, land, and the environment, combined with a vision for the future, simply became ingrained in Violet. This influenced her to be a leader emphasizing diversity, inclusivity, kinship, and environmental stewardship. Grgich Hills Estate is thus portrayed as a global example of what a “good, responsible” business can be.

During her years as a child, teen, and young adult, Violet, in addition to learning (or perhaps absorbing) from her parents, pursued her own educational path as well, which included earning a Bachelor’s Degree in music from the University of California Davis while also studying biology, chemistry, and enology, and a Master’s in Music (Harpsichord Performance) from Indiana University.

Inspired by her parents, Violet Grgich has traveled a path bridging the gap from the “Old Country” to a new future. She sets the tone and example to be a leader in producing world-class wines and an example of simply being “world” class and focused, an example that the next generation is following.

Mike Grgich, Violet Grgich, Austin Hills, Ivo Jeramaz, and the third-generation honor and preserve the history and ideals that put Napa Valley and California on the world map, because of an immigrant who came to America seeking a better life, with $32 in his shoe, a blue beret, and a dream of freedom.

Some of Violet’s achievements include:

19th Annual

California Artisan Cheese Festival

March 21-23, 2025

Friday Farm and Producer Tours, Saturday Pairing Seminars, Workshops, and Cheese Crawl, Sunday Artisan Cheese Tasting & Marketplace

California’s premier cheese festival, now making its 19th appearance, is a gala celebration produced by experts and educators from the world of artisan cheese. This three-day festival will offer attendees a wealth of informative and educational events along with opportunities to meet the Golden State’s cheesemaking community and to enjoy the full range of its products. Cheese lovers of all experience levels are welcome and can expect to be delighted.

This year’s festival starts on Friday, March 21 with Farm and Producer Tours at locations in Marin, Mendocino, and Sonoma counties. On Saturday, March 22, winery and brewery tasting rooms throughout Sonoma County will host seminars, a recital, and workshops. Saturday evening will bring the return of the Cheese Crawl at The Barlow in Sebastopol. The Festival culminates on Sunday, March 23 with the Artisan Cheese Tasting & Marketplace, a grand finale tasting event at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa. Tickets are now on sale and selling quickly.

“We are thrilled at the way the program for the Festival has come together,” says Candace Allen, California Artisan Cheese Guild Vice President and California Artisan Cheese Festival Committee member. “This year we have opportunities to go behind the scenes at renowned local cheesemakers, farms and beverage makers. Exciting new experiences include a cheese and classical vocal recital, a cheesemaking demo, and much more. The Festival will be a true celebration of the best of California cheese and the makers!”

Valerie Miller, Executive Director of the California Artisan Cheese Guild adds, “Last year, over 2,000 cheese lovers from 28 states and four countries, including the US, Mexico, Canada, and Indonesia, attended at least one event. What could be better for a turophile than spending three days in Sonoma County learning all about cheese and taking home that knowledge, and cheese, to share?”

The Festival, which began in March 2007, has grown into three days of cheese tasting, education, and celebration that brings together California’s premier cheesemakers and offers cheese enthusiasts of all experience levels an unparalleled opportunity to learn about, taste and purchase new, limited-production, and rare artisan cheeses. They will also be able to meet Bay Area farmers, chefs, brewers, winemakers, distillers, and artisan food purveyors and to sample their products.

Merriam Vineyards Celebrates 25 Years of Wine Growing Excellence in Russian River Valley

Quarter-Century Milestone Marked by Special Releases and Enhanced Visitor Experience

Merriam Vineyards, a pioneering force in Russian River Valley’s diverse winegrowing landscape, announces the commencement of its 25th anniversary celebration. Founded in 2000 by Peter and Diana Merriam, the winery has evolved from its initial 12-acre purchase into a distinguished estate encompassing three distinct vineyard properties, each expressing the unique terroir of the Russian River Valley AVA.

“When we acquired Windacre Vineyard in 2000, we envisioned creating wines that would honor both the Old-World traditions we loved, and the unique character of the Russian River Valley AVA” reflects Peter Merriam. “Twenty-five years later, that vision has been realized, encompassing not just exceptional wines but a deep commitment to environmental stewardship and an enhanced visitor experience. It

has been a great way to walk the walk of appreciating fine wine, by owning and managing very special vineyards.”

The anniversary year will feature special commemorative releases, including a limited-edition sparkling Blanc de Noirs, alongside a series of celebratory events throughout 2025. These offerings will showcase the winery’s evolution from its origins as a Bordeaux-focused producer, uncommon at the founding, to its current diverse portfolio spanning both Bordeaux and Burgundian varieties.

The milestone coincides with significant achievements in sustainable practices across the estate. The winery recently completed its organic certification process through CCOF, building upon the organic certification of its Los Amigos estate property. The

IMPECCABLE HOSPITALITY

Windacre and Eastside properties maintain rigorous sustainable certifications through CCSW and Sonoma Sustainable programs, with Eastside Estate additionally achieving Fish Friendly Farming certification in 2024.

RECOMMENDED DINING: Cole’s Chop House

Consistently recognized as one of the “Top 100 Best Steakhouses in America” by OpenTable, Cole’s Chop House serves up epic steaks, among other delectable dishes, seven nights a week. Owned by the husband-and-wife team of Eric and Heather Keffer, Cole’s Chop House has built an incredible reputation for awardwinning food, signature cocktails, world-renowned wine, and impeccable service at its home base in beautiful downtown Napa.

Specializing in prime dry-aged meats, Cole’s Chop House is obviously known for its incredible steaks, chops, and seafood producing only the highest quality products from legendary supplier, Chicago-based Allen Brothers.  Expect nothing less than the best.

Long been known for its lively bar scene, Cole’s comfortable yet upscale environment hasn’t changed. Mixologists are standing by to create a classic cocktail or, something more unique like a signature Strawberry Lemon Drop made with Silverado Trail Strawberry Infused Vodka. Bourbon lovers will rejoice in the award-winning bourbon and whiskey selections, some including house-made bitters or port-soaked cherries. Stop by for one of their seasonal specialty cocktails, or enjoy the full dinner menu, available at the bar.

An extensive wine list includes more than 50 wines available by the glass. The world-renowned wine list features selections from around the globe, influential domestic labels, and small-production hidden gems from Northern California, notably, the Napa Valley.

Discover Lake County Wine Country...

Wine tasting in Lake County offers a captivating journey through some of California’s hidden gems in the world of winemaking. Nestled amidst picturesque landscapes, this region boasts a diverse array of vineyards and wineries, each offering its own unique charm and character. Lava domes, cinder cones, and the world’s largest geothermal field define the area and the terroir. The grapes, and therefore the wine, are uniquely influenced by geology. There are more than thirty wineries to explore, with wines to savor. Sip distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Zinfandel, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc in addition to numerous other varietals. The area is so well regarded for grape growing that several prominent names own vineyards in Lake County and showcase the area’s diverse terroir, producing wines of exceptional quality in a serene, less crowded environment.

Sigma Ranch , simply put, is a one-stop shop for your wine, lodging, and outdoor adventure fun. Wines are from estate-grown grapes, (including Tempranillo, planted more than 20 years ago), and are small-lot, elegant, and available mainly through the winery.

Stay under the stars in one of Six Sigma’s 100 Huttopia glamping units, upscale and completely offgrid. Or, bring your RV to camp out if you prefer. Hike and Bike, on more than 14 miles of trails. Take a Pinzgauer Vineyard tour, savor a ranch-to-table private lunch or dinner.

Brassfield Estate Winery stands as a testament to the region’s winemaking prowess. Boasting breathtaking vistas and a commitment to sustainable practices, Brassfield offers more than just exceptional wine — it provides an unforgettable experience. Visitors are invited to explore the lush vineyards, savoring the nuances of the terroir, while enjoying a tasting flight of their acclaimed wines, from crisp Sauvignon Blancs to robust Cabernet Sauvignons.

Wild Diamond Vineyards, situated in the stunning Red Hills AVA, offers a more intimate tasting experience. The winery’s small production of wines reflect the unique terroir of the volcanic soil and high-altitude vineyards.

Six

and Unleash your Inner Explorer!

With breathtaking views, Wild Diamond provides a memorable setting to enjoy their exceptional wines. Langtry Farms, and Winery has a romantic, storied history. Lillie Langtry, (b. 1853 on the Isle of Jersey) was a famous British actress and socialite, performing both in England and the United States. In 1888, seeing an ad in a local publication, Lilly purchased a 4,200acre ranch, founding Langtry Winery, which she owned for 18 years.

The modern-day operation began with the initial 1982 vintage, they have been producing awardwinning wines ever since. Whereas mostly Bordeaux varieties are grown, Langtry also grows, Merlot, Petite Verdot, Petite Sirah, Sauvignon Blanc (named Langtry Lillie), and Chardonnay. From family-owned boutique wineries to larger estates, there’s something to suit every palate. The experience goes beyond just tasting wine; it’s an opportunity to immerse oneself in the local culture and hospitality while enjoying breathtaking views of Clear Lake and the surrounding mountains. Whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur or a casual enthusiast, wine tasting in Lake County promises an unforgettable adventure.

Let’s

When in Kelseyville, you have to eat at Saw Shop Public House! Their motto is “Welcome to our house—everyone is local, and locals are family.” The food here will blow you away. It’s good, fun, tasty and friendly. On The Waterfront Restaurant in Lakeport is a modern eatery with a globally inspired, progressive menu of original dishes meant to be shared. The fresh and ever-changing seasonal menu is designed to tantalize your senses with a fusion of flavors, complemented by wine, to deliver an unforgettable experience. At the Blue Wing Saloon in Upper Lake, the atmosphere exudes a warm, inviting charm that makes it a local favorite. The rustic wooden interiors, adorned with vintage photographs and eclectic memorabilia, create a nostalgic ambiance that perfectly complements the hearty comfort food on the menu. Another local favorite is Red's at the Skyroom in Lakeport. Relax and watch the small planes fly in and out while enjoying traditional comfort food like fish and chips, specialty burgers, fried chicken sandwich or Uncle Gary’s Pot Roast Sandwich. But the twist? Oysters and sushi! Greenview Restaurant is another delicious option, located on the Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course.
