PLAY ALL DAY AT HANSON PARK!

You may have heard of this new park, but have you been to it? Hal & Berni Hanson Regional Park, a 257-acre complex, is filled with all kinds of action-packed fun! From a skate park to soccer fields, this park has it all. This fun attraction opened on Sept. 9, 2022, and operates from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. On days off from school, kids are sure to flood this park and will have a great way to spend their time!

Hanson Park is on Evergreen Mills Road, directly across from the Willowsford Grange neighborhood. The park expands to both sides of the road. On the east side is the main playground. The playground has turf hills and mounds to roll and tumble on. One of the big attractions is a spinning ball that you can climb in and on top of. The main playground is divided, with a younger kids’ area and an older kids’ side. On the older kids’ side, there is a ropes playground and a two-story structure. In the younger kids’ area, there is a small obstacle course and shorter slides.

There are 12 soccer fields in all; fields one and two are really nice turf fields. Fields three through 12 are all grass fields that are well maintained. On fields one and two, the soccer goals double as football goal posts. So, make sure you bring a soccer ball and a football to play! Near pond No. 5 is the Nature Center. It overlooks the lake and has garden beds on the side. Inside there are several different small exhibits to learn and look at.

The skate park is a great place to ride scooters, BMX bikes and, of course, skateboards. It contains several bowls and hills to ride on. Also, there are rails to grind and sets of stairs to send. Another cool feature is that there are flood lights, so you can skate at night! It is great for all ages and is a lot of fun.

If you decide you want to come and play, but your dog is just sitting there waiting to release its energy, bring them along! There are two off-leash areas for your pup to have a blast. There is even a cricket field for all those cricket lovers. With four baseball diamonds, it seems as though the planners of this park thought of everything. There’s also five beautiful ponds, an amphitheater, tennis courts and even a future equestrian complex!

If you are watching a game and you get hungry, you might want to grab some food at the concession stands. There are three spaced out around the park. Calling all disc golf fans, there is also an 18-hole course. It is a huge new disc golf park that is all wooded and has some up and downhill holes. It is a par 58! If you like disc golfing, this course is definitely for you!

In the summer, bring your kids to the splash pad with many fun features that will be the perfect activity for warm weather, and once they are done, they can go play on the playground next to it! I bet you didn’t know that there are nature trails that wind through part of the wooded area where you can bike, jog or just walk! As you can see, Hanson Park is a great addition to our community and will be loads of fun for you and your family!
