Small Space Refresh: Coffee Bar Addition!

Sometimes, all it takes is a small remodeling project to completely reinvent a space. Christy Mason, who owns a K Hovanian with an Avandale floor plan in the Grange, had been living in their home for seven years when she decided a spot in the kitchen needed an overhaul. “The knee wall really broke up the space and was a catch-all for mail, papers and general clutter,” she said. “We also don’t have a lot of useable counter space, so we thought a place to put the coffee items would work well for us.”

They used a local contractor to knock down the knee wall and create a coffee bar area between their kitchen and living room. “We love it!” said Christy. “It really opened up the space!”

While managing that small project, the Masons decided to increase their storage space as well. “We also added a utility closet because the pantry space is small and we needed a place for mops and brooms. It’s really helped to have that extra space to store paper towels, trash bags, etc.!”
