Winter Wonderland in Willowsford
BY RESIDENT AND JUNIOR WRITER EVELYN ROSE THIS FEATURE SPONSORED BY CAPITAL TRIMLIGHT

Every year, Willowsford offers a Gingerbread Workshop for kids right before the holidays. This year, it was held during Winter Wonderland Weekend at the Sycamore House. One big change this year is that you could choose a premade house with walls already glued together. After assembling and attaching the roof and chimney, participants could visit the candy buffet to get options like vanilla Tootsie Rolls, gumballs, gumdrops, M&Ms and Christmas candy corn to decorate their houses. Chef Emily did a great job putting it all together!
Gingerbread decorating wasn’t the only thing to do during the visit. The whole weekend, kids and families could go outside and do a flag scavenger hunt for prizes. There was also a sleigh parked in the garden that you could pose on for pictures, and cocoa was served on the patio. In the kitchen, the Conservancy offered pinecone birdseed feeder crafts to make and take home. There was also a variety of holiday crafts to make in the dance studio, and live music and singers throughout the day. You could even visit Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus while you were there! It was a festive weekend full of fun!
