How to Pack Your PC for moving

Page 1

Moving your personal computer to your new home may not be as simple as taking your laptop with you. Unlike laptops which are portable and lighter, most computers are heavier and have more accessories that need to be packed for a move. Backup files It is best practice to back up important files and content regularly. This helps ensure that no matter what happens, you will not lose any important data. Before turning off your computer for the last time prior to packing it for the move, back up important data in a flash drive or external hard drive to make sure that you won't have any problems in recovering important data in case something happens to your computer during the move.

Prepare the box When moving fragile or sensitive items, it's highly recommended that you use new and sturdy boxes or containers to pack your belongings. If you still have the original box for the computer tower and other accessories, it will be better to use these since they are made to keep these sensitive items safe.

Assemble and reinforce the box If you are using new moving boxes to move your pc, assemble the box and seal the bottom properly with packing tape. Once it is properly sealed, reinforce the bottom of the box using packing paper, closed, thick blankets to create padding or cushion before positioning the computer tower and its accessories into the boxes. When it comes to relocating items from one location to another, there is no guarantee that all items will be delivered safely even if you or your hired professional furniture removalists take the utmost care when handling various items. Unfortunate events may occur while your goods are in transit, especially when the moving vehicle is put under pressure when navigating rough roads or turning in tight corners.

Carefully pack each component into their boxes For safety purposes, it would be best to pack the computer tower, other components, and accessories separately. If you have the original boxes, carefully pack the computer tower and others using the packing materials that are in their boxes. Once the tower is secured, you may be able to fit into a bigger box where all other components and accessories will be placed. In case you no longer have the original boxes, carefully wrap the computer tower and other components with anti-static bubble wrap and secure the wrapping with packing tape. You may also use clean thick blankets to wrap everything and avoid scratching the surfaces. Carefully put the wrapped items into the boxes.

If you plan on packing everything in a bigger box, position the boxed tower and components in an upright position. You may use the remaining packing papers and blankets as padding or cushion to fill the gaps within the box.

Seal and add labels After securing everything, seal the box or boxes using the high-quality packing material. Make sure that there are no gaps at the top and bottom of the boxes to ensure the packed items won't spill in case the moving vehicle is put under pressure while turning in tight corners. Label the boxes indicating the contents and the room where they're supposed to go. Whilst professional removalists take the utmost care in handling your belongings, it's best to add fragile labels, as well as indicators on which side should be up so that removalists will be extra careful in handling the boxes. This way they will also avoid putting heavy items on top of the box.
