Jamie KcKendrey has led a successful junior girls team and brought them through to the Ladies senior level, and recently taken over the reigns as 1st Team Coach.
Good afternoon everyone and welcome to today’s game where we host GT7 ladies.
Towards the end of last season we traveled down to Kendal to play GT7 in the league cup. Following a goal a piece for each team the match looked like it was going to be decided by penalties, only for us to score a 90th minute winner!
During preseason we also played out a 2-2 draw with GT7 so it’s expected that there won’t be much between the two teams again today.
Last Sunday the ladies played away to Colne FC and continued to build on the previous weeks brilliant performance in the FA Cup. Whitehaven were quick out of the blocks and soon took the lead through Grace Houghton. Colne then equalised almost instantly through a penalty, however this didn’t affect the ladies who reset before going on to produce what was easily their best performance of the season so far. Final score was 6-1 to Whitehaven with the hard working Grace Houghton bagging a hat trick!
It’s fair to say that it’s proved a tough start in this new league so far this season. But following encouraging performances in our last two games it now appears that the ladies are starting to find their feet and we are determined to continue that in today’s game.
Another home game means yet more generous sponsors!
So a massive thank you goes to Nuclear Waste Services, Amentum, Express Plumbing Supplies, HCS Water Treatment, Holmen, along with today’s Match sponsor Christine Moffat Driving Services, Ball sponsor DENTCO, and food sponsor The Sunnyhill Pub.
Enjoy the game!
Last Sunday saw our Senior Ladies looking to bounce back after a narrow FA Cup defeat on penalties against Darlington FC Women. Our perfromace that day was very good, and the Ladies continued in that vein. A long journey to Cone FC Women awaited the Ladies with Erin Marley a late withdrawlr through illness. The Ladies were undeterred, and came back with the 3 points after a dominate 6-1 victory. Goals from Emi Rudd, 2 for Ashleigh McAllister (sponsored by ANC Flooring), and a hat trick for Grace Houghton (sponsored by The Sheply Group).
It’s 5th vs 6th today as we welcome GT7 Ladies FC to the County Ground today. We played GT7 away in the Cup last season winning the game 2-1.
Our U11 Lionesses consist of 25 girls, one of the biggest girls age groups across the club! The girls play as Yellows and Blues in the competitive U12 West Cumbria Youth League. They are passionate, determined and dedicated to one and other both on and off the pitch! Some girls newer than others to the squad have described a sense of family since joining and without a doubt have made friends for life.
The girls are a force to be reckoned through their passion and drive to never give up, and this will only excel them going forward through out this season and future seasons, we have a squad with some exceptional talent and future leaders! which will without a doubt deliver brilliance over the years and into senior football for Whitehaven AFC and the wider world. Coaches, volunteers and parents are extremely proud of their resilient nature and commitment to one and other.
