A TEAM COACH

ROB CAMPBELL

Whitehaven “A” Team Head Coach Rob Campbell has led a large volume of successful junior girls team in the club, he recently took over the reigns as the first “A” Team Coach after being an Assistant First Team Coach last season.

Today we welcome Kendal Town Ladies to the County Ground. This is Kendals 3rd season in the league and a team we have a lot of respect for as a well drilled and organised outfit and we both find ourselves sat 3rd & 4th respectively, with us 3 points behind Kendal so this is a big game for us. I also have a great deal of respect for my opponent coach in Chris Miller who actually coached my daughter and my assistant coaches daughter as part of the Westmorland ETC and I know he runs teams in the best way.

In our reverse game at Kendal it was a tight affair where both teams had good passages of play and it ended 2-2 and I’m expecting a similarly tight game today.

Another home game means yet more generous sponsors and I’d like to say a big thank you to C M Driving Services Cumbria who have been a long time supporter of what we do with our female teams and I’m very grateful for their support once again and hope they enjoy the game.

Today will be our first home game wearing our brand new Match Day gear supplied by our wonderful supporter and main partner, Amentum and the lasses are looking really good and professional now and a real team.

I’d also like to thank our continued support from Nuclear Waste Services, EPS Plumbing Supplies & HCS Water Treatment.

We are always looking for Match & Ball sponsors so if you’d like information please drop us a message.

On behalf of myself and the ladies thank you for your support.

Enjoy the game!

LAST TIME OUT

GT7 LADIES 0 WHITEHAVEN ‘A’ TEAM 5

The Ladies “A” team got back to back wins last time out with a solid performance away to GT7 Ladies Reserves. The ladies ran out 5-0 winners on the day, but it took to the second half to get the pay off for a patient and probing first half display, coming in at half time 1-0 up after a strike from Team Vice Captain Sam Bennett.

Into the second half the ladies moved up through the gears and looked threatening on every attack and 2 goals in the space of 90 seconds, firstly by Amber Jackson from long range, and a second for Sam Bennett from a defence splitting pass from Aisha Sandwith saw the game go to 3-0. Further goals from youngster Angel Dockerty and also winger Jodie Clarke rounding off a fine win.

KENDAL TOWN LADIES

NEXT GEN LIONESSES

UNDER 16 GIRLS

Our U16’s Girls have had success throughout their youth career, winning numerous trophies.

This season has been a challenge so far with the girls being tested to the limit with injuries to key members of the squad. Striker Lexie Roberts has been out with a long term injury, and with the promising Lexie Goodfellow also out, another blow was Hannah Nicholson, who broke a bone in her foot against Penrith in a freak moment in the game. With Tilly McLaughin in and out with a knee injury, the team is scraping to gather a team and recently fielding a team 8 v 9 and getting the result to an epic performance from the lasses.

The multi talented Anya Brannon removed her goalkeeping gloves to play outfield, and as expected she delivered, supplying an assist and bagging a goal herself. It’s testing times, but these Lionesses are still battling to keep the season alive... awaiting the long awaited return of their team mates watching on from the side lines.

Coach Gaz Barwise is very proud of these lasses, “I like we are being tested to the limit, is shows willingness, desire, togetherness, the odds are are against us, but we are still going”.

“Georgiana is a raw talent in the team who also joined late on in the previous season and she has driven this team on. A rough diamond who hopefully can drive us to some glittering sliverware this season”. “Some of the players see this season as the final fairwell in their football journey, which we all understand and respect their decision. Others I see progressing into the senior set up. With maybe the likes of Anya, Lani, Lexi T, Molly, Georgiana and maybe Hannah and the other Lexie’s”.

We are really looking forward to welcoming these brilliant players to our Ladies Squad.
