COPENHAGEN NV Brand new movie 'Nordvest' is about a young man who lives his everyday life in a very criminalised environment. As the title quite unambiguously states, the movie is shot in the northwestern area of Copenhagen where the main character, Casper, lives. SEX, DRUGS AND PLENTY OF VIOLENCE ….these are the cornerstones of 'Drive' director, Nicolaj Winding Refn’s, first movie where we see his trademark the use of a handheld camera to portray the tough gang community of Copenhagen in a realistic and almost documentary style. A large part of the movie takes place in Vesterbro, but if you want to enjoy a draft beer at the place where Mads Mikkelsen hands out beatings in Pusher 2, you would have to go to the small Island of Amager and the ‘Dance Bar’, Fair Play, which is situated in Kurlandsgade. BEHIND THE WALLS OF CHRISTIANSBORG AKA ”BORGEN” Many of the scenes in Oscar-nominated Nikolaj Arcel’s political thriller, 'Kongekabale' (Royal Solitaire, ed.), take place behind the walls of the political headquarters at Christiansborg and give a good picture of how the Danish parliament and the elected people who populate it behave – for better or for worse.
