WHAT DOES "RESIDENT' MEAN?
Resident means you live within the Wheeling Park District boundaries. In addition, all children enrolled as students in School Districts 21 and 23 are granted resident rates on qualifying non-contractual youth programs.
If you have never used our registration system and want to qualify for resident fees, please stop by the Guest Service Desk at the CRC and show proof of residency status. Valid drivers license, utility bill, copy of lease or mortgage agreement are acceptable forms of proof.
Non-resident guests are always welcome to take part in programs and activities.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

By registering for a class or attending or participating in an activity, or using WPD property, you authorize use of your image or your child’s for Park District purposes without prior notice or permission and without compensation. The Park District is not responsible for images shared by others through social media or other channels.

BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL RECREATION
WHAT SCHOOLS PARTICIPATE IN BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL RECREATION?
The schools that participate in before and after school recreation programs are Field, Tarkington, Twain, and Whitman.
WHAT IS BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL RECREATION?
With the cooperation of District 21, the Wheeling Park District has developed a before and after school recreation program for working parents that provides quality care for children in grades K - 5 who attend Field, Tarkington, Twain, and Whitman schools on all School District #21 student attendance days. The program is committed to providing safe recreation activities, including games, crafts, sports, and quiet time to counter the day’s educational activities. A pre-packaged snack is included in the before- and aftercare program. Parents may choose either before- or afterschool care or both before- and after-school care.
WHERE IS IT LOCATED?
The Wheeling Park District Community Recreation Center (CRC) is where the program resides. Students using beforeschool care are dropped off at the CRC and bused to their home school. After-school care students are bused from their home school to the CRC and should be picked up there.

WHAT PAYMENT OPTIONS DO YOU HAVE?
There are two payment options available: [1] Monthly Payment Plan and [2] Drop-in Punch Card
OPTION 1 - MONTHLY PAYMENT PLAN
A monthly payment plan is set up for each family’s convenience.
Registration Fee: $50/child, non-refundable Before school: 7:00 – 9:00 am, $8.50/day After school: 3:30 – 6:00 pm, $10.75/day
HOW AND WHEN DO I REGISTER?
OPTION 2 - DROP-IN PUNCH CARD
Purchase a Punch Card to use on an as-needed, drop-in basis.
10 Punch Card: $120
Register or purchase punch cards at the Community Recreation Center (100 Community Boulevard, Wheeling) no later than 7 days prior to the desired start date, pending confirmation of transportation information from First Student.
CAN MY CHILD PARTICIPATE IN OTHER PROGRAMS OR ACTIVITIES AS PART OF BASR?
Wheeling Park District offers recreation programs at the CRC, such as swim lessons, art classes, and dance programs after school. Sign up for the BASR aftercare and an after-school recreation program, and our staff will work with each family to walk their child safely to their next activity! Registration for additional activities is not included in the price of the BASR program.
BREAK CAMPS
DAYS OFF SCHOOL & BREAK CAMPS
Sign up for exciting activities during the school holidays. Parents experience a peace-of-mind knowing their kids are in a safe, enjoyable environment. Supervised games, sports, and activities are offered at the CRC and outdoors at Heritage Playground (weather permitting). The program runs from 9:00-3:00 pm; before and after-care options are available. A pre-packaged snack is included for before and aftercare only. Please send your child a nut free lunch and a water bottle. Campers will go to the pool on days communicated by staff. Please note, the deadline to register, transfer, or withdraw is 5:00 pm, 7 days prior to the start of the camp week.

HALF DAYS OFF SCHOOL
Tarkington, Field, Twain, and Whitman students are invited to join us for pizza and fun activities on half days of school. Students from other schools are welcome to join but must be dropped off at the park district by an adult between 12:00- 12:30pm.
Students with the half-day included in their BASR schedule will be automatically enrolled. All other students must register separately. Punch cards are not accepted.
