WHAT DOES "RESIDENT' MEAN?
Resident means you live within the Wheeling Park District boundaries. In addition, all children enrolled as students in School Districts 21 and 23 are granted resident rates on qualifying non-contractual youth programs.
If you have never used our registration system and want to qualify for resident fees, please stop by the Guest Service Desk at the CRC and show proof of residency status. Valid drivers license, utility bill, copy of lease or mortgage agreement are acceptable forms of proof.
Non-resident guests are always welcome to take part in programs and activities.
Payment is accepted by cash, check and credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express).

The Little Dribblers program introduces children to the game of basketball through age appropriate games and activities. Your child will develop skills and gain confidence in a fun and safe environment while learning with others. No class 11/25.

Play Hard Hoops core philosophy is to teach the fundamental skills of basketball in an encouraging environment to help develop young basketball players of all ages and skill levels. Play Hard is an instructional program that stresses teamwork, sportsmanship and positive attitude. The first two sessions will include an evaluation process while working on fundamentals through drills. The last 4 weeks will be games.

Designed to promote sportsmanship and teamwork, all levels focus on understanding and enjoying the game. There is no season-ending tournament for any division. Leagues may combine with neighboring Park District’s to increase the number of teams. All players must have a Wheeling Park District reversible jersey, available for purchase at the guest service desk at the Community Recreation Center. $20 late fee will apply for all registrations after 12/10. Wheeling Park District has teamed up with River Trails, Prospect Heights, Mount Prospect, Des Plaines and Northbrook Park Districts to create the Northwest Suburban Park District Basketball Conference. Games start in January after the middle school season ends. The regular season schedule will be followed by a single elimination playoff tournament. Practice days/times will vary depending on the availability of volunteer coaches. All players must have a Wheeling Park District reversible jersey, available for purchase at the guest service desk at the Community Recreation Center. $20 late fee will apply for all registrations after 12/7. Players are introduced to the fundamentals of soccer tactics such as passing the ball, offensive moves, defensive moves, keeping/controlling the ball, taking the ball away from the opposing team, and learning how to score and prevent goals. At this age, the focus starts to change from simple games to organized, tactical, competitive games. No class 10/17 & 11/28.

In the next stage of their progression, players increase playing stamina and speed in an uptempo atmosphere. Specific technique training involves strength and placement shooting, landing on the shooting foot, precision passing, settling the ball with various body parts and advanced fundamentals and skill maneuvers. The Wheeling Park District is dedicated to providing a structured soccer league that offers children the opportunity to enjoy the game of soccer while learning about teamwork and good sportsmanship. All levels are welcome. The league consists of one weekday practice and six Saturday games. Practice nights will vary based on the availability of volunteer coaches. Players must have a set of Wheeling Park District jerseys to participate. Jerseys can be purchased at the CRC Guest Services desk. Purchase not necessary if the player has a jersey from the previous season(s). A $20 late fee applies to any registration after 8/17. Volunteer coaches are needed at every level! The Soccer League exposes youth players to team dynamics and develops soccer skills. Through game play and organized practices, players learn new techniques and improve existing skill levels. Teams will play 4-on-4 games. Max team size is 8 players. League fee includes a uniform for each player. Hot Shots Sports coaches run the practice time, and provide instruction while refereeing to ensure all players understand the rules of the game and are advancing their skills each week. No class 11/30.

The Soccer League exposes youth players to team dynamics and develops intermediate and advanced skill levels. Through game play and organized practices, players learn new techniques and improve existing skill levels. League and team organization: All divisions play 5-on-5 games. This introductory program is perfect for young players interested in learning the sport of volleyball. Net heights will be adjusted to varying heights to ensure players can learn proper mechanics while having fun and enjoying the game. Players will learn all the fundamentals of serving, bumping, passing, setting, and spiking, to ensure they are prepared adequately in the future for competitive levels. No class 11/27.

This clinic includes instruction on all major volleyball skills; serving, passing, setting and attacking. Players receive a solid foundation of these fundamental skills through fun and active drills, building up to team play. This class is for the volleyball beginner looking to understand the game and learn new skills. Kneepads are recommended.

The Wildcat Youth Wrestling Club offers a comprehensive and inclusive program designed to support young athletes of all sizes and experience levels. Every participant is guaranteed the opportunity to wrestle—there are no bench warmers here. Coaching focuses on teaching proper wrestling techniques while fostering personal growth, self-assurance, and emotional resilience. Wrestlers also have the chance to compete in tournaments for individual awards, building both skill and confidence. Each participant receives 20 weeks of coaching, a club T-shirt, a USA Wrestling 2025–26 membership, and access to a singlet for practices and competitions. Beginner Pickleball Lesson (No Experience):
Commit to learning the game of Pickleball with other beginners. Players will learn the basics of pickleball including stroke mechanics, how to serve, volley, dink, hit a 3rd drop shot, drive, score, and more in drill and game-based scenarios. By the end of the session, players will know the proper pickleball etiquette, strategy of the game, and have the confidence to participate in drop-in pickleball programs. No Class 11/26

Advanced Beginner Pickleball Lessons (Level 2 - Some Experience):
This class is for advancing beginners who have some experience and want to continue to improve their pickleball game. Players will participate in drills and work on consistency in forehand and backhand shots, serving, volleying, dinks, and lobs. Players will learn the strategy and ball placement and work on a softer game which will help take their game to the next level by learning to play smarter, not harder. All participants must have pickleball playing experience and must commit to the entire session. No Class 11/26

Intermediate Small Group Training Pickleball Lessons (Maximum 4)
Elevate your game with these specialized intermediate-level pickleball sessions! Designed for players with at least one year of experience and a solid understanding of the game, this program focuses on refining techniques, building consistency, and improving shot accuracy. What to Expect:
Personalized Instruction: Sessions are tailored to the needs of the group. Skill Development: The first 30 minutes are dedicated to drills and skill enhancement. Gameplay Practice: The final 30 minutes reinforce lessons through gameplay.
Lessons offered October-December. Choose between a pay-as-you-go option or commit to multiple sessions to take your skills to the next level! Minimun of 2 to run lesson.

The Wheeling Park District Drop-In Pickleball Program is ideal for recreational players who want to stay active, have fun, and socialize in a relaxed environment. It’s perfect for the casual player who enjoys the game without the pressure of serious competition. All skill levels are welcome—just bring your enthusiasm for a good time! Games are played to 11, win by 2, and when others are waiting, please rotate off the court after your match. You’re encouraged to mix it up and play with different partners, though you can also paddle up with your own foursome. We look forward to seeing you on the court!
A daily fee is required to play, but for those who are committed and love to drop in more often, we also offer convenient punch pass and membership options!
