Situated on a sprawling 38-hectare rural campus, WestMAC provides a well-rounded, all-inclusive education designed to inspire growth and unlock each student’s potential.
Through a culture of resilience, respect, and responsibility, we empower students to explore their passions, embrace diverse learning opportunities, and flourish in a supportive, dynamic environment.
At WestMAC, individual excellence meets opportunitywhere students are encouraged to strive for their personal best, discover their unique strengths, and step confidently into their future.
On behalf of the school community, I welcome you to West Moreton Anglican College and invite you to discover how we can instil a love of learning in your child so that they can explore their potential.
West Moreton Anglican College, or WestMAC as it is affectionately known, is a dynamic Prep to Year 12 co-educational Independent School that promotes a balanced schooling experience. Our innovative teachers challenge students to actively engage in their own learning; become critical, creative and entrepreneurial thinkers; and develop emotionally, socially and spiritually. We strive to ignite a passion for learning in our students so they can confidently uncover and embrace their full potential.
Students also have access to and are encouraged to participate in an extensive range of enriching learning activities, both within and beyond the classroom. The unique location of the College offers many advantages. WestMAC is set on a naturally beautiful 38-hectare semi-rural campus less than 10 minutes from Ipswich’s CBD.
This provides students with a peaceful and safe learning environment, as well as convenient access to the amenities of this increasingly dynamic, growing regional centre. Additionally, dedicated bus services make the College easily accessible to Brisbane’s western suburbs; enrolment trends indicate that WestMAC is increasingly attractive to families in this corridor. The College campus includes three sub-schools: Junior (Prep to Year 6); Middle (Years 7 to 9); and Senior (Years 10 to 12). A community C&K Kindergarten is also located on campus.
At the heart of the College community is faith and service – both based on Anglican beliefs. Students are encouraged to value themselves and to be proud of their own and each other’s achievements.
Please take some time to read through this prospectus and discover how WestMAC can uncover your child’s potential so they can flourish as 21st Century Leaders.
Andrew Peach Principal
“But those who trust the LORD will find new strength. They will be strong like eagles soaring upward on wings; they will walk and run without getting tired.”
Isaiah 40:31 (Contemporary English Version)
Faith and Wellbeing
At WestMAC, we offer a holistic education grounded in Christian values and aligned with the traditions of the Anglican Church of Australia.
In the 1990s, WestMAC was established through the vision of Reverend Canon Gavin Ott and the desire of St Paul’s Church parishioners to provide families in the Ipswich region with a co-educational Anglican school. All families are welcome at WestMAC regardless of religious affiliations.
Faith is central to daily life, with the Chapel of the Good Shepherd serving as the heart of the College. Students attend weekly Chapel services for reflection, learning, and celebration.
The College is supported by our Chaplain, Reverend Jane Markotsis and our Chaplaincy Support Officer, Paul Alcorn who provide spiritual and pastoral leadership. Students are encouraged to uphold the Anglican Ethos and participate in Religious and Values Education (RAVE), exploring Christianity’s history, values, and contemporary issues in a thoughtful, reflective manner.
Wellbeing
At WestMAC, we prioritise student wellbeing by fostering a supportive environment where mental, emotional, and physical health are valued.
As an Anglican school, we emphasise forgiveness, reconciliation, and loving service to God and others. We encourage students to be responsible, ethical, and socially conscious citizens. The WestMAC Wellbeing Centre offers confidential support from two full-time psychologists, helping students build resilience and navigate challenges.
Additional support comes from Heads of School, Pastoral Middle School Leaders, and our Chaplaincy Team providing spiritual guidance. Each sub-school also has a Safety and Wellbeing Support Officer who creates tailored programs based on positive education research. Wellbeing is central to everything we do, empowering students to thrive academically, socially, and personally.
Health Services
Our Health Centre is staffed by registered nurses who provide health and medical assistance to students and staff at our College.
Students can access the Health Centre for immediate First Aid (with access to hospital transport if needed), management of chronic health conditions, daily dispensing of medications, and coordination of access to immunisation and Dental Health Programs.
The WestMAC Way and Dandiiri
The WestMAC Way
At WestMAC, we focus on three guiding principlesbeing prepared and engaged, being kind to yourself and others, and being courageous. These principles nurture resilient, respectful, and responsible individuals.
Be Prepared and Engaged
A love of learning, curiosity, perseverance, and teamwork drive our approach. We believe learning is not just about preparing for the future, but about actively engaging in the present and embracing challenges with determination. By fostering a positive mindset, we encourage growth and support each other in our community.
Be Kind to Yourself and Others
We promote kindness through fairness, gratitude, acceptance, and emotional control. Our Religious and Values Education (RAVE), Chapel, and SpiritED programs teach respect and forgiveness, helping us build an inclusive environment and community.
Be Courageous
Bravery, leadership, and creativity are key to unlocking potential. We encourage taking calculated risks and being innovative. By embracing honesty and creativity, you’ll inspire others and lead with confidence.
Dandiiri
Dandiiri is the Yugara word for “To Come Together”.
At WestMAC, we are committed to offering students the opportunity to learn from First Nations perspectives. The Dandiiri Approach is designed to ensure First Nations learning is integrated into our curriculum.
As a community, we are committed to bringing Dandiiri to life across four key areas within WestMAC: Dandiiri Professional Learning, Dandiiri Curriculum, Dandiiri Social and Emotional Wellbeing, and Dandiiri Reconciliation.
The Dandiiri Approach is designed to guide our efforts as an educational institution and community. It helps us work together to build understanding, raise awareness, and lead with both capacity and responsiveness. Through this approach, we authentically contribute to bridging gaps in knowledge and action, fostering a deeper connection with First Nations knowledge and values.
“It is important that the early years of a child’s education provide a solid foundation not only academically, but also in developing the traits of resilience, persistence and compassion.”
Kirsten Mullan, Head of Junior School.
Junior School - Prep to Year 6
The Junior School has built a reputation for caring and innovative teaching where learning is fostered in an environment that inspires creative, critical thinking and students are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning.
Our Prep Program is one of the longest running programs in Queensland. It provides a balanced approach to learning by weaving play into more formal learning experiences.
Our committed and passionate teaching and support staff have a well-earned reputation as dedicated, caring professionals and our educational programs place emphasis on mastering academic and physical skills in an environment where student wellbeing is strongly promoted and supported.
We recognise literacy and numeracy as the keys to academic success. Critical thinking is also a major element of the Junior School program across all year levels. It underpins all basic elements of communication and allows students to distinguish between fact and opinion, to ask questions, make detailed observation, and uncover assumptions and to make their own assumptions.
Students who have been exposed to critical thinking are more inquisitive, judicious, confident in reasoning, open minded and analytical in their thinking.
Students who are achieving beyond their age are challenged to extend their thinking through a variety of enrichment tasks that recognise different learning styles and the existence of multiple intelligences. Students who require more support to reach their potential are catered for through a variety of intervention methods and dedicated specialists.
Junior School class teachers lead learning in English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Digital Technologies/Design and Technologies, Religious and Values Education (RAVE)/SpiritED and Art.
Dedicated specialist teachers immerse students in Chinese, Music (including a Year 3 String Immersion Program, Year 5 Band Program and Year 6 Arts Program), and Physical Education (PE).
Middle School - Years 7 to 9
At WestMAC, we acknowledge that the transition to adolescence represents a time of rapid and significant development. Our Middle School offers a safe and nurturing environment, enabling students in Years 7 to 9 to make decisions and solve problems, with the guidance of specialist teachers.
Our staff teach and encourage our students to positively form a sense of identity, image and self-worth. Middle Schooling fosters the growth of greater independence and self-reliance. Students are encouraged to be flexible, responsive and develop an aptitude for continuous improvement. We strive to instil in our students passion and enthusiasm, a need for social connectedness and independence, a curious and inquiring mindset along with a strong sense of justice. We believe the combination of a rigorous academic program and a comprehensive pastoral care system provides the basis for excellent schooling experiences that enable the personal development of each student.
Structure for success
To facilitate positive transitioning from Junior to Senior School, students entering the Middle School in Years 7 and 8 are placed into classes based around their core subjects (Maths, Science, English and Social Science). The composition of each class is based on a variety of factors such as social, emotional and academic ability with emphasis placed on creating a learning environment where each student can flourish.
Year 7 students are supported in their transition to secondary education through the appointment of two core teachers for Maths, Science, English and SOSE. This allows students consistency and is less overwhelming. In Years 8 and 9, timetables mirror more closely a Senior School offering to with teachers in specialist subject teachers.
Each level is guided by a Head of Year who will remain with them through their Middle School journey.
Rite Journey
The Rite Journey program (Years 8 – 9) is an initiative designed to support the transition of young people into adulthood. It focusses on building self-awareness, identifying strengths, and providing conversations and experiences to guide this important life shift. The program is designed to empower students to become responsible, resilient and reflective individuals.
Leadership Program
Students in the Middle School participate in a highly strategic and targeted leadership program. In Year 8 students begin to develop the appropriate attributes and skills required to prepare them for student leadership roles. Our Year 9 student leaders have specific responsibilities such as academics, faith and service, the environment and cultural awareness for the Middle School through chosen projects and activities.
It is our priority to provide a contemporary education underpinned by the principles of a Middle School philosophy. These principles are:
• holistic learning that is student centred
• teaching for understanding and higher order thinking
• responsive, integrated, differentiated and negotiated curriculum
• relevant, appropriate, flexible and challenging tasks
• empowering students to take charge of their own learning
• collaborative learning and teaching
• multiple opportunities for students to experience success and to develop competence
• encouraging, acknowledging and valuing student voice
• develop a strong sense of community with a relational focus
• safe and supportive learning environments conducive to responsible risk-taking
• seamless transitions
“Our Middle School delivers a holistic educational program that is relevant, responsive and empowering to the developmental needs of our students. We specialise in adolescence, creating multiple opportunities for our students to experience success and flourish.”
John Chalvatzis, Head of Middle School.

At WestMAC, we believe the development of six key character traits is important for our graduates to lead happy and successful lives and contribute positively to their communities, nation, and the world.
• Perseverance & Resilience, enables students to adapt and thrive amidst change;
• Respect, promotes respect for self, others and the environment;
