ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY
Michael Blake – 2025 Cultural Attaché
Gurumba Bigi. West Moreton Anglican College acknowledges the Yugara people as the First Nation custodians of the lands upon which our College stands.
For thousands of years the Yugara people have gathered on this country, to share knowledge, stories, and teachings.
We pay our respects to their language, lores, customs, creation spirits, culture, and traditions.
We pay tribute to Elders; past, present and to be.
We acknowledge that within the boundaries of this country, there has always been places of teaching, researching and learning, a tradition which we as a College proudly continue today.
CALL TO WORSHIP
Priest: Jesus said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
All: We come before God with humble hearts, open to receive God’s grace.
Priest: Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth; you are the light of the world.”
All: We come to be renewed. To bring flavour and light to God’s world.
Priest: Let us worship the one who calls us to shine before others, that through our lives, God’s love may be known.
All: Come, Holy Spirit. Make us your people of blessing, that we may be salt and light for the glory of God. Amen.
Time of Your Life
by Green Day
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go So make the best of this test, and don’t ask why It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in time
It’s something unpredictable
But in the end, it’s right I hope you had the time of your life
So take the photographs and still frames in your mind Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time Tattoos of memories, and dead skin on trial For what it’s worth, it was worth all the while
It’s something unpredictable
But in the end, it’s right I hope you had the time of your life
It’s something unpredictable
But in the end, it’s right I hope you had the time of your life
It’s something unpredictable
But in the end, it’s right I hope you had the time of your life
PRAYER OF PREPARATION
Priest: Let us pray the Prayer of Preparation together:
All: Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden, cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name, through Christ our Lord. Amen
FACING THE UNKNOWN
Priest: As we embark on our new journey, we may have a sense of inadequacy or fear of the unknown. Let us, go forward in faith and trust, As we share with each other and be joined in our humanity.
All: Jesus, remember us, as we live faithfully as your people.
THE ASSURANCE
Priest: St Paul writes:
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, nor angels or rulers, not things present nor things to come can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. Nothing in all creation can separate us from the love of God. Therefore, rise up and walk in faith.
All: Jesus, guide us, as we serve in your name.
MINISTRY OF THE WORD
First Reading Romans 12:9-19
Annabelle Cleeland - 2025 Chapel Captain.
“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honour one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practise hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay, says the Lord’.”
Reader: This is the word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God.
The Gospel Matthew 5:1-3 and 13-16
Joseph Schmalkuchen - 2025 Chapel Captain.
The Gospel of Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew chapter 5 beginning at the first verse.
“Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.”
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.”
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Reader: This is the Gospel of the Lord.
All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
THE REFLECTION
The Reverend Jane Markotsis.
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
Leader: Let us together affirm our faith, and the faith of the church.
All: We believe in one God, who made and loves all that is. We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was born, lived, died and rose again, and is coming to call all to account. We believe in the Holy Spirit, who calls, equips and sends out God’s people, and brings all things to their true end.
Priest: This is our faith, the faith of the Church: All: We believe in One God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
Annabelle Cleeland and Joseph Schmalkuchen
Leader: We now enter a time of prayer. Let us pray for the world God loves. Our response to “Lord, in your mercy” is, “Hear our prayer”.
Leader: Loving God, we thank you for the journey that has brought us to this day. For the friendships made, the lessons learned, and the growth that has taken place within and beyond the classroom. Grant that the memories we carry may remind us of your goodness and faithfulness. Lord, in your mercy.
All: Hear our prayer.
Leader: God of wisdom and light, guide us as we step into a new season of life. When choices seem uncertain, may your Spirit grant us clarity; when challenges arise, may your presence give us courage. Teach us always to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with you.
Lord, in your mercy.
All: Hear our prayer.
Leader: Gracious God, we thank you for parents, families, teachers and all who have supported and encouraged us. Bless them for their patience, dedication and love. May they know the deep joy of having shaped young lives toward hope and purpose.
Lord, in your mercy.
All: Hear our prayer.
Leader: God of unity and grace, bless this school community. May it continue to be a place of learning, friendship and faith. Where minds are stretched, hearts are kindled, and Christ’s love is known in word and deed. Lord, in your mercy.
All: Hear our prayer.
Leader: God of all creation, send us out to be light in the world. May we be bearers of hope; may we work for peace; and in every place we go, may we serve others with humility and joy.
Lord, in your mercy.
All: Hear our prayer.
Leader: Faithful God, as we give thanks for the past and look with hope to the future, we entrust ourselves to your care and keeping. May we know that nothing can separate us from your love in Christ Jesus. Amen.
THE CONFESSION
Leader: Let us confess our sins to the God who knows us through and through:
All: Holy God, we have disobeyed your commandments, we have resisted your call. We have failed to live by your generous love. We are sorry for all our sins, and ask you to forgive us, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

COLLEGE HYMN
ON EAGLE’S WINGS
Michael Joncas © 1979 New Dawn Music. Used with permission under College’s copyright licensing arrangements.
You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord, who abide in this shadow for life; say to the Lord, “My refuge, My rock, in whom I trust”.
Chorus
And I will raise you up on eagle’s wings bear you on the breath of dawn, make you to shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of my hand. The snare of the fowler will never capture you and famine will bring you no fear; under God’s wings your refuge with faithfulness your shield.
Chorus
You need not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day. Though thousands fall about you, near you it shall not come.
Chorus
For to the angels God’s given a command to guard you in all of your ways. Upon their hands they will bear you up lest you dash your foot against a stone.
Chorus
… And hold you, hold you in the palm of my hand.
CHALLENGE BY 2025 COLLEGE CAPTAINS
Halle Anderson and Oliver Ryan
Extract from author Marianne Williamson, famously quoted by Nelson Mandela in his 1984 Inaugural Presidential Address.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves: Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear our presence automatically liberates others.”
THE BLESSING
Priest: God the Father, who places in our hearts the spark that searches for wisdom and for truth draw you into the paths of life as you learn and grow day by day.
God the Son, the Light of the World, teach us to live in love and service to others, help us bear one another’s burdens and give us courage to bring reconciliation and healing to the communities we encounter.
God the Holy Spirit, who fills us with the breath and life of God, enflame our heart’s fire so that we may truly be lights shining in the world God loves.
And the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit rest upon you and remain with you always.
All: Amen.
SENDING OUT
Priest: Graduates of 2025. Please follow us through the centre isle of the Chapel to the Ott, where we will gather in a circle at the top of the Ott and wait for the dismissal. As you do so, “Walk towards God’s guiding light as you enter the next stage of your life’s journey.”
THE DISMISSAL (on the OTT)
Priest: The Lord be with you.
All: And also with you.
Priest: Go in peace, to love and serve the Lord
All: In the name of Christ. Amen
The students and staff of the Senior School thank you for joining us on this very special occasion.
