The Dingle Marathon 2016 This Saturday September 3rd will see the 2,600 participants take part in the eight Dingle Full and Half Marathon. The past year has been one full of accolades for the event with the Dingle Half Marathon voted Half Marathon of the Year 2015 in the Running in Ireland Race Awards and more recently Runners World magazine selecting Dingle Full Marathon as one of the “52 Best Races in the World”. Dingle Marathon was the only Irish event to be selected by this huge international running magazine. The half marathon leaves Dingle Town at 9am from the marina and heads off in the direction of Ventry to Slea head and finishes near Dunquin. The full marathon has all the half has to offer but much more continuing on from Dunquin, the spectacular scenery continues to keep the spirit alive. As if the stunning scenery wasn’t enough, organisers have also laid on DJ’s, traditional musicians, samba bands, and Star Wars characters to motivate runners all around Slea Head. Due to large numbers of participants involved there will understandably be restrictions on traffic.
