What a joy to welcome back Krystle Dos Santos to our community for an already sold out run of Motown Get Down We’ve gotten to know Krystle and her powerhouse vocals over the years with her previous shows Hey Viola! and BLAK: Iconic Canadian Women in Music.
Krystle brings her charisma and style to Motown, a genre described as “the sound of young America.” The record label was called Motown after the nickname Motor Town given to the city of Detroit. At a time when people are divided and faced with racial discrimination, Motown demonstrates that barriers can be broken down with music. The African American-owned label played a vital role in the racial integration of popular music, and its blend of soul, rhythm and blues, gospel, and vocal jazz, with a mainstream pop appeal achieved crossover success with white audiences. Art has a unique ability to bring people together, and we know you’ll all leave this show feeling like you shared something truly special.
As we look ahead to our 50th anniversary season, the team has been reflecting on the many artists, such as Krystle, that our audiences get to know and love after performing in multiple productions at Western Canada Theatre. Thank you for joining us this season and we look forward to sharing an all Canadian season with you next year.

CREATOR’S NOTE
From the very beginning, Motown Get Down has been about more than just music—it’s about energy, connection, and celebration. This show was born out of a love for the timeless grooves of Motown and the way they make people move, sing, and feel. I want to take that spirit and infuse it with my own passion for performance, creating a night where every audience member can let loose, get down, and be uplifted.
To know that Motown Get Down has already sold out months in advance is nothing short of incredible. It’s a testament to the power of this music and the way it continues to bring people together across generations. Even before we’ve hit the stage, the excitement is already electric—it means that people are as ready for this show as I am.
This journey is shaping up to be one of the most rewarding of my career. Motown Get Down is designed to be a joy-filled, high-energy escape, and I can already feel that it’s going to be something truly special. To everyone who’s coming, who’s ready to sing, dance, and celebrate with us—thank you. You are what will make this show unforgettable, and I can’t wait to get down with you.
