This is ourY8 global history topic. It is primarily focused on political and military history. Pupils will learn about France under the absolute rule of Louis XVI, the events of the revolution, the reign of terror, the Directory then the rise and rule of Napoleon.
This is ourY8 British history topic. It is primarily a social history unit. Pupils will first learn about West Africa before slavery and then move on to study the rise of the British empire before focusing in on the experience of enslaved people in British colonies in the Caribbean. The unit will end by looking at the abolition of slavery and its legacy.

Pupils will develop their ability to interpret and analyse a variety of historical sources and in this unit there will be a particular focus on analysing works of art. In this unit pupils’ study different aspects of population growth, structure, density and distribution – in different contexts. Pupils will investigate where people of the world are currently living and understand the difference between density and distribution, as well as the factors that contribute to the distribution. The last section of this unit explores migration. The lessons build on the key aspects of migration, before moving on to look at an example of migration within the wider context of a place.
