The ‘Nieuwestad’ is the centre’s main street which is divided into two by one of Leeuwarden’s many canals. The main street branches off into many smaller shopping streets where you can find the most amazing boutiques. Every Thursday evening you can shop late and every Friday there is a market on the Wilhelminaplein. Also, Leeuwarden’s shops are open to customers every Sunday.
