Great question. A few important points about Lyme disease. Lyme disease affects between 15 and 20 thousand people in New York state each year, so by no means is it an uncommon problem.
Also, most people who develop Lyme disease do not remember being bitten by a tick, so not knowing about a tick bite does not preclude someone from developing Lyme disease.
SEND US YOUR QUESTIONS SEND
Also important to understand is that Lyme disease does not always have the same presentation. The symptoms and body systems involved will vary. This may include fever, rash (most easily diagnosed) arthritis (joint pain/swelling), meningitis (inflammation of the covering of the brain), encephalitis (brain inflammation) and/or carditis (heart inflammation).
The variety of presentations makes Lyme disease easy to miss, but most practitioners who treat patients in our communities are familiar with the disease and tend to be on the lookout for atypical presentations of Lyme disease.

I
was upstate for the summer where ticks are common. Should I be concerned about the potential exposure to Lyme disease or consider testing?
Despite some misconceptions that Lyme disease is untreatable (or very difficult to treat), most medical professionals agree that a course of antibiotics taken for 2-4 weeks will typically cure Lyme disease.
As with everything else, prevention is the most important cure so avoid tall grass, use insect repellent, tuck pants into socks and body checks after potential exposure. Be on the lookout for any unexplained illness or symptoms and, of course, consult with your medical provider with any specific questions.
There are no guidelines for routine checking for Lyme disease, but your provider may choose to do so based on potential exposure and risk factors.
I hope this sheds some light on this topic, and again, any specific concerns should be discussed with a licensed medical provider.

Elections 2025 OUR UNITED VOICE IS
MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER!
A conversation with the askonim behind a massive campaign to unite Boro Park’s voice— ensuring that every single resident is registered to vote!
The offices of Boro Park’s askonim are a hive of activity in these very days as they prepare for a massive campaign to unite Boro Park’s voice—not behind any one candidate, but simply to make our collective voice heard. To vote en masse in the upcoming election in New York City.
We connected with some of these energetic askonim in order to hear firsthand about these efforts, what is behind this campaign, and why this election is different than elections in the past.
Please share with us how this campaign came about.
This grassroots campaign is the result of an awakening by a group of devoted askanim and volunteers who looked around at the situation that Brooklyn Jewry finds itself in. Understanding the immense power that we can have if we all come out and vote, we were motivated to come out with this crucial and important call to the community.
We began by turning to the menahalim of local yeshivos and schools, and to the devoted community servants at the Boro Park Jewish Community Council (BPJCC)—and a united call was issued to the community for every individual to register to vote. This will establish a united political voting bloc in which every single resident will ensure that their voice is heard. Dozens of volunteers are working as we speak, connecting with local residents who appreciate the gravity of the moment we are in, and have pledged to exercise this duty and privilege of voting.
In short, what is the goal of this campaign?
Our goal is to bring out an unprecedented number of voters from the Boro Park community in the upcoming election. We hope to eventually grow this effort to include other communities in New York City, maximizing the power of our voting bloc—ensuring that no matter which candidate wins the election, our voice will be reckoned with in the halls of power.
Why is this election different?
Klal Yisroel all over the world, and especially in New York, finds itself in a very difficult situation. Anti-Semites and criminals fill our neighborhoods and many in our community don’t feel safe in the streets of their very own neighborhood. We have all witnessed how criminals regularly snatch valuables from innocent and unsuspecting women and children, and physically attack men and bachurim, only to get away with it.
Regard and respect for religion is at an all-time low, and the
morality and behavior of our neighbors is often at odds with our most deeply held values.
During these turbulent times, it is especially important that our elected officials must respect us and reckon with our community. Experience has shown that the only way this can happen is when a community votes in elections. Nothing else matters to them other than our voting power.
Thus, in times like these, it is more important than ever that our voice be heard—and this requires being registered to vote. For this reason, we are coming directly to the community, and we have made it easier than ever to register to vote.
How do politicians affect our community on a daily basis?
There are countless examples of the way friendly relationships in the halls of power enhance the lives of the residents in a community. One example is the provision of police security personnel in communities and ensuring that our streets are free of criminals who frighten the local residents, or to secure order during large gatherings, including heated protests by outside influences who enter our community to rabble rouse.
In recent years, much progress has been made in stopping criminal activity, and this was a direct result of cooperation between askonim and the mayor’s office and other politicians where they have found an open door. Friendly politicians have also been able to assist when community members have found themselves in legal trouble, fending off investigations, and ensuring that matters are handled with sensitivity.
In every aspect of our daily lives, politicians can assist every individual citizen in the community. This includes the allimportant vouchers, building permits, ensuring that parking tickets aren’t issued on Shabbos and Yom Tov, and an entire array of instances where relationships with elected officials help improve quality of life for our residents every day.
We find ourselves in a time when some politicians have come out against the entire idea of private schools and want to see every child in New York sent to public school. During times like these, it is especially important to bring out the maximum number of votes so that our voice is properly represented in the halls of power.
Can we really make a difference in elections?!
When we analyze the numbers, we will find that the orthodox community comprises 10% of the 1,000,000 votes cast in New York City in the last three elections. We have the potential to double this number, to 210,000 votes! Twenty percent can very well sway an election one way or another.
But regardless of whether we will determine the winner, one thing is certain: every single vote will send a strong message to City Hall—a message that our politicians cannot afford to ignore. But this depends on the volume of votes…
Who must register to vote?
Every United States citizen aged sixteen and above can register to vote, and from the age of eighteen, one can begin voting in elections.
Would you recommend registering to vote in a specific party?
The most important thing is to be registered to vote—period—
regardless of which party. Everyone should decide for themselves which party they wish to register with.
How does one register?
The process can take about thirty seconds! One must only fill out a document and return it to the askonim who will deliver it to the Board of Elections.
So, where does one get this document?
Throughout the week of parashas Ki Savo (September 7), a massive distribution operation will be launched in which every Boro Park resident above 16 years of age will have access to the registration document.
Forms will be distributed in the mosdos haTorah and brought home by students to their parents. Distributions will also take place throughout the week in shuls across Boro Park, with special drop-off locations at supermarkets and grocery stores across the community. In addition, the forms can conveniently be returned through the schools, enabling the women of the community to complete and submit them with ease.
How can members of the community assist in this important campaign?
As noted, there’s a growing group of askonim and volunteers already on board, working to register their friends and neighbors, and getting their friends and neighbors to do the same. Anyone who wishes to receive a package of forms and take part in this incredible grassroots effort, or to learn more about the campaign in general, is asked to contact 917-3820094, and leave a voicemail or text message. Emails may be sent to votebp2025@gmail.com
Some are afraid to register to vote because it may place them onto the “Jury Duty” roster.
Anyone who has ever filed a document in New York State— including drivers license, marriage license, Medicaid, Section 8, or state tax return—is already on the Jury Duty list. We believe that there’s hardly a resident of our community who isn’t part of this group. Registering to vote will not make a difference.
In closing, what is your message to the Boro Park community?
Experience has shown that even in cases where politicians began with a hostile attitude to our community, and took positions at odds with our values, they quickly came around once they saw our community vote in large numbers. When we look back at past elections, we will see that once politicians realized our community’s voting power, they actually became great friends of our community.
New York City is no different. If we come out to vote with all our might, it will send a powerful message to all politicians that, regardless of who wins the election, our community is a force to be reckoned with.
Don’t delay this important act. Register yourself and every member of your household of age. Remember that it takes seconds, and that it’s easier and simpler than ever.
You can have an impact on Boro Park’s future. You have a voice. Utilize it and make it count for the benefit of every individual in our community.

NINE A.M. IS A COMPLETELY FICTIONAL STORY WHICH TAKES PLACE FIFTY YEARS AFTER THE HOLOCAUST.
RECAP OF CHAPTER 85: At Leo’s shivah, Sol, his nephew, brings a terse condolence note from the Wangels. Acting as the new camp manager in place of Leo, he warns everyone not to speak badly about the Wangels and asks for people’s help in arranging a manhunt so they can find Binyamin, who the Wangels are desperate to interrogate.
The manhunt systematically goes from house to house, searching for Binyamin, much to Rechel and Naomi’s worry and fear.
CHAPTER
EIGHTY SIX
Visiting hours for the public at the shivah house:
Morning between 6:00 and 7:00 am
Afternoon between 2:00 and 3:00 pm
Evening between 8:00 and 8:45 pm
It was only 6:30 in the evening, but Naomi ignored the sign on the door and knocked. It was the first time she’d ever knocked at this door—or had even approached it. It was the first time she was seeing the unusual door handle—an elongated tube made of gold-colored metal that was cool and smooth to the touch—which was very different from the round wooden knobs that the rest of them had on the doors of their little houses.
Did it make the Sherer family happy that this knob adorned the door of their home, or was the point just to indicate that their status was different from that of the other residents of this place? Naomi didn’t have time to think about that,
because just then the door opened, and Eva stood there, staring at her. After a moment she said, “Yes?”
“Eva…” Naomi said. “I will come later in the evening to be menachem avel. But right now, I need to speak urgently with Suzy. Is that possible?”
“Yes,” Eva said and walked back into the house.
A moment later, Suzy came to the door. She blinked when she saw Naomi but then recovered quickly. “Is Dror okay?” she asked.
“As okay as he can be on a day like this ” Naomi replied. “That’s what I wanted to talk to you about. Some time ago, my grandmother gave me advice on how to cushion difficult information for children. I will work with him in class, but do you want to hear some ideas that you can implement at home?”
“Okay…” Suzy’s eyes were cold and distant, as always. “Do you want to come in?”
“I prefer not to. I’m a bit uncomfortable.”
Suzy stepped outside and closed the door behind her. She glanced back for a moment to the closed window, and then scanned the path ahead of them. “What do you want?” she
CHAYA HEILIGMAN
asked in a whisper.
“The telephone…”
“Did it stop working? Did the battery finish?”
“No…I don’t know, actually.”
“I hope that you turned it off between each call. The battery is supposed to last a long time if you do.”
“You turn it off with the same round button that you turn it on with, right? So yes, we turned it off. I hope my brother did too, after his last call. What I wanted to ask is where the telephone is now. I know it’s in the forest, but…”
“Wait here,” Suzy said. Then she went back into the house. Naomi waited for a minute near the door that had been slammed in her face, hoping that nothing was being plotted and schemed behind the wall, and that it would not be Sol who would step out of the door to confront her.
But it was Suzy who came out again a few moments later. “A bit later, my husband will come and pick up Dror from school,” she said. “And from there, he’ll go with him to the forest. Let’s say that this is one of the pieces of advice you gave me: to take Dror to a pastoral and distant place and let him talk about everything that is hurting him. Try to follow them discreetly. The phone is buried in the ground, at the foot of one of the trees. That’s where your brother put it. And just to be safe, my husband will hang an old piece of clothing on that tree, and he’ll stick a branch into the ground at the place where the phone is buried.”
“But…what will Dror say?” Naomi asked, practical as always.
“David won’t do it in front of him.” Her eyes suddenly grew wide, and she took a step closer to Naomi until she was just inches away, and grasped her shoulder. “But if you’re caught, we are not involved, do you hear? David has gotten into enough trouble with your brother’s phone call!” She didn’t wait for a response; she just opened the door and disappeared back into the house.
Naomi turned around and continued on her way, wondering with a dour smile what an observer of this scene could be thinking to himself. They certainly did not look like a devoted preschool teacher and a mother listening attentively to her advice. Suzy wasn’t a great actress.
She went back to the preschool. The children in the classroom area were copying the last few lines from the board into their notebooks, and the younger children were wiping down the tables with rags. The first mothers returning from work had come to pick up their children; David Elkovitz was the only father who came along with them. He stood in the yard and waited until Dror came out to him, walking with slow, heavy steps. Naomi smiled briefly at the mothers, and waved to them and their children. Then she got ready to follow the Elkovitzes.
“Do you want to take a walk, Dror?” she heard his father suggest.
“No, I want to go home, to Mama.”
“But I want to speak to you first, in a quiet place.”
“Is it an important conversation?” the precocious child asked.
“Yes. It’s about our grandfather, and about how you feel.”
Shabbos
Candle Lighting Starts Here
Naomi couldn’t hear the answer anymore, because the pair had moved too far away. She straightened the collar of one of her students, patted the cheek of another, and set out. The camp was still relatively empty; there was almost another hour until work officially ended. She didn’t follow the exact same path as Dror and his father; instead, she turned in the opposite direction. If she’d be asked where she was going, she could always say she was heading to the store.
But the minute Naomi reached the store, she bypassed it and disappeared among the trees behind it, and then ran in the direction that the Elkovitzes had taken. The woods grew thicker here, and she needed to move branches and brush from her path so that she could continue walking. Her ears were on the alert for every sound, and for good reason. She suddenly heard a low murmur, and quickly retreated behind three tree stumps that were standing so close to one another that they almost appeared connected. Elkovitz was talking, and his tone was high—unlike the tone he had used to speak to Dror just before.
“Me? I’m going to speak to my son a little bit, Sol.”
“And the forest is the only place you could find to do that?” Yes, that was Sol Sherer.
“As you see.”
When all was said and done, Elkovitz had a clear status, and it was evident from Sol’s voice that he knew it. “Okay, okay, speak wherever you want…” Based on the last word that sounded like it was fading out, and the crackling of leaves and branches, Naomi realized that the man was walking away, and heading toward the left.
She waited another few seconds behind the trees, crouched down, and then slowly stood up. “Sit here a minute, Dror,” she heard his father say. “I’m walking ahead a bit. I want to check if we can see Grandpa’s gravesite from there.”
Naomi tried to peek through the thicket of the leaves. There was Dror, standing in a small clearing and looking around him. Then he
sat down. A moment later, his father was back. That meant that the place where the phone was hidden wasn’t far. “We’ve gone a bit too far. Come, we’ll go over there to speak,” David said with a sigh. They walked back and passed very close to where Naomi was standing.
A moment later, she came out and walked to the place where Dror’s father had disappeared to before. There was a rag, hanging on a protrusion from the trunk.
And here was a short branch lodged into the ground. ***
“Is…am I speaking to Hanter?” Ten hours later, behind the locked door, Naomi gripped the telephone until her knuckles were white.
“Yes.”
“I…this is Schvirtz.”
“Oh, we were waiting for your call. We came in early just for that.”
“I think we need help urgently.” She could hardly breathe, and Aryeh placed a cup of water next to her.
“They found out about my brother, and he has gone into hiding. I don’t know how much time he can hold out until they catch him.”
“But don’t turn to the Austrian police,” Aryeh mouthed to her.
“Right, please don’t call the Austrian police,” Naomi said hastily. “If you could get here with some backup… something else, from your own people… Also, you should know that there are people here who don’t believe us.”
“Jews?”
“Yes. Maybe they’ll think that you are…some type of bait from the outside, or an ambush meant to expose us.”
“I hear,” said Moshe, Bentzy’s father. “We’ll find a plan of action, b’ezras Hashem. Try to hold on. Can you give us some details about the place? We’ll figure out a way to get there, with Hashem’s help, but any information about what’s going on inside would be helpful.”
“It’s a mountainous area, and some of it is very heavily forested. There’s a wall surrounding everything. At the upper part, on the east, there’s a forest, and at the foot is the factory and office structures. In the middle, there’s a flatter area, where
Beautiful Collections for Autumn Winter
the living quarters are.” Naomi felt like she wasn’t being so clear, perhaps because of the pressure to finish the conversation quickly, but she was doing the best she could.
“On the western slope are the animal kennels and our cemetery, which is a bit further south. And in the north of the camp is the Nazi estate, with the manor house, which is separated from our camp with a low gate. They are five people right now—the most dangerous are the father, Hauptman Josef Wangel, and his son Bernard. Besides them are Hauptmann Katarina, Wangel’s wife, who you also have to be careful about, and two daughters. But maybe by the time you get here, they will bring backup…I don’t know. Maybe more people have come already, because we’ve had visits from other Nazis in the past.”
“And weapons?” He was writing everything down.
“They have rifles,” she said hesitantly. “That’s what we know. They haven’t come out of the manor house for two days already, but that could change at any—”
Beep-beep-beep. Had they intercepted her? No. The phone had turned off, and she couldn’t get it to turn on again.
Until about four in the morning, Binyamin lay on the roof, almost adjacent to the rectangular hole, and prayed. Throughout that time, he heard voices from the estate, both inside and outside the house. Someone on the floor beneath him was apparently unable to sleep. Only when the skies began to pale, turning a bit reddish, did absolute quiet set in.
Hearing the silence, Binyamin tied his rope to a pipe that stuck out from the edge of the roof. Then he sent the other end of it into the opening in the roof. He grasped the rope and slowly let himself down on it.
His feet soon touched solid ground. He found himself in an old, blackened, wood-burning fireplace; all around him were remnants of wood that the last fire had apparently not burned. The fireplace was surrounded by three stone walls, and in front of him was the low fireplace opening, surrounded by low, red metal bars. Binyamin bent all the way down, skipped over the little railing, and stepped out.
He was in a large room that took up the entire third floor of the manor house. In the past it must have been used as a living room for the nobleman who had lived here more than a hundred years ago. The decorated floor, the scratched mahogany table, and the yellowing lace curtains all bore traces of the long-ago grandeur, but it was obvious that the Wangel family hardly used this area.
The fireplace was in the center of the room, and behind it was an open door. Binyamin tiptoed toward it and peeked out; there was only silence. In another corner, almost hidden behind the table and chairs, was a closet with three doors.
The Wehrmacht uniforms that filled it did not surprise Binyamin. Some of them were very old, nearly crumbling, and some were very new. He didn’t give the uniforms more than a cursory glance. But at the bottom of the closet were two large, heavy boxes, and Binyamin knew that this was what he was looking for.

Bridging the Gap Between Parents and Teens.
Independence, Friends, and Boundaries: Finding Your Role in Your Teen’s World
SHIFRA FRIED
Parents may feel mixed emotions as they watch their teens grow up. They are happy, on one hand, that their children are no longer hanging on to their coattails and they can leave the house without their child getting hysterical. On the other hand, they are unhappy that they don’t seem to need them anymore, except as a cash source, and may no longer want to spend time with them as much as they used to. Sometimes a parent will feel hurt or insulted. They may wonder if they did something wrong and that’s why their child doesn’t want to hang out with them.
It’s crucial to understand that their teens’ individuation (developing independence) is a normal part of growing up and, yes, growing away from the parents. Like the two-year old who learns to say no but is only at the start of their journey of individuation; adolescence is another step in that vital process called growing up.
This stage of life is about them figuring out who they are. They’re learning to develop their own sense of self. Part of that includes a natural need for independence and autonomy. They’re seeking their identity and self-expression, and friendships play a huge role in that.
Why It Is Beneficial for Teenagers to Spend Time with Friends
1. With friends, teens feel freer to express their thoughts and feelings, which helps them gain insight into who they are.
2. The social factor, including the strong desire to belong and peer pressure, causes teens to gravitate toward other teenagers.
3. For a growing adolescent, developing social skills is essential. Time spent with friends helps them learn compassion, caring, and empathy.
4. Interaction with their peers helps them develop a sense of autonomy and independence.
Remember: The number of friends your teen has doesn’t matter as much as whether they seem happy in their relationships. But if they don’t seem to have any friends, encourage them to join clubs, teams, or extracurricular activities so they can connect with peers who share their interests.
Nevertheless, although this is all normal and necessary, that doesn’t mean you as a parent should step back completely. Your role as a parent doesn’t stop because your
kids are starting to back away. Your teens still need you, even if they don’t think so. So, even if you need to be more covert, there are key actions you can and should be taking.
How to Stay Involved Without Holding Them Back
1. Get to know your teens’ friends.
2. Set limits on what they can do. By the way, it’s never too early to talk about unsafe behaviors. You can encourage them to surround themselves with friends who have good middos and values, kids who care about others, who try hard in school, and who make good choices. And while you don’t need to focus on bad influences, it’s worth mentioning the importance of staying away from the opposite. Make sure to state what’s non-negotiable—anything that compromises, safety or morality isn’t allowed.
3. Set a curfew. Make sure it’s reasonable for their age and social circle. Be clear and consistent, but that doesn’t mean inflexible. If there’s no school the next day, for example, a later curfew might make sense.
4. Be clear. In your conversations, be very specific so there’s no room for misunderstanding. The most valuable thing? Remind them that you’re on their side. Explain that you set these rules because you love them and want what’s best for them. That sense of security is vital, even if they push the limits. You can do it. Be strong.
A real-life example of this is Shira’s daughter, Mindy. As a teenager, Mindy had a hard time with her parents’ limit settings. She constantly complained because her friends were allowed to stay out until very late, but she had a curfew. “You’re so mean, you’re always saying no. You never let me hang out with my friends,” she’d yell at them. When Mindy turned 20, however, she approached her mother and admitted how safe she felt those times that her parents were strong and didn’t give in to her demands. She now understood that their limit-setting and curfews were their way of taking care of her and providing her with security.

In landmark FDA study, MaxiHealth emerged as leading the nation in accuracy
LARGEST-EVER FDA STUDY INTO DOSAGE ACCURACY NAMES MAXIHEALTH AMONG JUST 3 BRANDS WITH 100% ACCURATE DOSAGE OUT OF 110 TESTED NATIONWIDE
NEW YORK, NY – In a landmark validation that underscores the importance of quality manufacturing, MaxiHealth Research has been recognized as one of only three brands nationwide to deliver precisely what's on the label and achieve perfect accuracy in the FDA's largest-ever such study.
The comprehensive study reveals a significant industry challenge: Out of 110 Melatonin supplements tested, only 2.7% met accuracy standards. While many products showed dosage variations ranging from ZERO content to 667% over-labeled amounts, MaxiHealth delivered precisely 100% of the labeled dosage. The study, featured in The Washington Post, highlights the critical importance of choosing supplements from manufacturers with proven quality systems.
"This FDA validation reflects our unwavering commitment to accuracy and quality that spans five decades," said a MaxiHealth spokesperson. "Achieving perfect accuracy isn't just about melatonin – it demonstrates our manufacturing excellence across all 250+ products in our kosher line. This serves as a powerful litmus test for supplement reliability."
The study highlights the importance of rigorous quality control, as most of all tested products exhibited significant labeling discrepancies. MaxiHealth's immaculate accuracy score validates the company's comprehensive quality systems, which include independent third-party laboratory testing from raw materials to finished products.
"When families choose MaxiHealth, they're choosing a brand with a proven track record of delivering exactly what's promised," the spokesperson added. "Our 'True to Total Wellness' commitment means precision you can trust, backed by 50 years of manufacturing excellence."

BE FIT WITH BENEFIT
QI am wondering if my reasoning makes sense. I know that weight loss is all about a calorie deficit. If you eat fewer calories, you lose weight. On the flipside, if you expend calories due to exercise, you also lose weight. Therefore, I am wondering if it is safe to assume, that on the days that I exercise and burn calories, do I have "extra" calories for nibbles and treats? Or, will I gain weight with all extra treats?
AWhen it comes to weight loss, the foundational principle is simple: calories in versus calories out. If you consume fewer calories than your body burns, you create a caloric deficit, and this deficit is what leads to weight loss. Conversely, a caloric surplus—when you eat more than you burn—can lead to weight gain.
Your line of thinking is sound:
• Calorie deficit = weight loss.
• Exercise increases caloric expenditure.
• So, more exercise = more room for food without gaining weight.
At face value, this is true. If your baseline daily calorie needs (your Total Daily Energy Expenditure, or TDEE) are, say, 2,000 calories, and you eat 1,800 calories, you're in a 200-calorie deficit. If you then burn 300 calories through exercise, your new net intake is just 1,500 calories—effectively increasing your deficit to 500 calories.
So, in theory, yes: you could eat an additional 200–300 calories of food and still maintain your original deficit.
But there are a few important nuances to consider:
1. Exercise calories are often overestimated: Fitness trackers and cardio machines frequently overestimate calories burned—sometimes by as much as 30–50%. That 300-calorie run might
realistically only burn 200 calories. If you eat back the full 300 in treats, you could erase your deficit or even swing into surplus.
2. Treats are easy to overdo: While it may seem reasonable to "reward" yourself with a small treat after exercising, it’s easy to consume more than intended. High-calorie snacks—like pastries, chips, or sugary drinks—add up quickly. One cookie might be 150 calories; a fancy coffee drink could be over 300.
3. Exercise isn’t just for weight loss: Viewing exercise solely as a tool to “earn” food can lead to an unhealthy relationship with both food and movement. Exercise provides a wide range of benefits beyond calorie burn—such as improved cardiovascular health, stress reduction, better sleep, and muscle preservation during weight loss.
4. Consistency over days and weeks matters most: Weight gain or loss isn’t determined by a single day, but by trends over time. If you're consistently in a calorie deficit over the course of a week—even if some days include small treats—you'll still lose weight. The key is maintaining balance and not consistently overcompensating for exercise with high-calorie foods.
Track weekly progress, not just daily numbers. At the end of the day, your reasoning is valid—but with some caveats. Act smartly and consistently!

Ushpizen
COOKIE RECIPE:
2 sticks margarine
1 ½ cups sugar
1 tbs vanilla sugar
2 eggs
3 ½ cups good quality flour
¾ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Cream marg, sugar and vanilla sugar on high speed. Add eggs. Reduce speed. Add baking powder, salt and slowly add the flour.
Roll out dough and use cookie cutters to create your shapes. Bake for 9-11 minutes.
Cookies should be a light yellow color, not brown.
ROYAL ICING RECIPE:
3 egg whites
1 lb confection sugar
Few drops of water
Beat egg whites with electric beaters until stiff. Reduce Speed. Slowly add confection sugar while mixing on low speed. Add a few drops of water. Combine.
You now have icing which is a thick consistency. This is good for outlining, writing, or adding any details on top of your cookie. For the cookie backgrounds or areas that need to be smooth, you need flood consistency. You do this by adding a few drops of water until you reach a smooth consistency.
Divide icing into separate bowls and add food coloring or gel as needed.
You are now ready to fill piping bags!
Welcome to the third in the Ushpizen series, the Yaakov cookie. There is something so beautiful about sitting within the four walls your Succah, surrounded by your beautiful handiwork and creations. Enhance it further still with these adorable Ushpizen cookies.

3. Using your gold, pipe a banner shape and fill in with gold.
4. Using your light color, pipe a ladder: 2 slanting lines meeting at one point. Add the steps.
5. Add the stones, alternating brown and your light color in a semi-circle shape.
