Recap: Mrs. Gordon attends an interview at her sister-in-law Devorah’s agency, and impresses the boss there, Mr. Millman, with her understanding of the situation.
Harry, Sam Kleinberg’s lawyer, sits over the case after work, thinking hard about how to make sure the judge allows them to set bail.
Pessy Cooper talks to her friends about the upcoming PTA while her mother listens in..
Mrs. Kleinberg leaned forward toward the mirror as she finished applying her makeup, scrutinizing the folds on her skin. It wasn’t wrinkles, right? Of course not, she reassured herself.
Not that it would have been so surprising if she would have gotten some wrinkles from this whole business with…her husband being in jail.
In the mirror, Mrs. Kleinberg’s left eyelid twitched at that humiliating thought. That uncomfortable line was soon followed by a rush of rage.
What was Bnos Golda thinking, scheduling in a PTA meeting just 2 days before her husband’s bail hearing? Couldn’t they at least have waited until afterwards?
Her fury ignored the likelihood that “after the bail hearing” would be no panacea.
She noticed her eyebrows scrunching in the mirror and carefully smoothed them out. It wouldn’t do to have anyone see her looking ill at ease.
Maybe she should simply skip this PTA. Yes, that made more sense than trying to pretend everything was just dandy when in fact the world should have stopped turning by now.
The more Mrs. Kleinberg thought about this, the more she liked the idea. Really, Bruchi was a big girl. There was no reason her mother had to go to her PTA.
But then she thought of all the other mothers in Bruchi’s class, who would surely be discussing “the poor Kleinbergs” behind their backs if she wasn’t there. When they would realize that Bruchi’s mother had failed to show up, they would take that as proof that the Kleinbergs were pitiful indeed.
No, she had to show up at that PTA, but she had to make sure to look like she was on top of the situation and managing perfectly fine despite everything going on. That was what would throw the gossip mongers off her tail.
With one last backward glance in the mirror, Mrs. Kleinberg closed a zipper on her makeup bag and turned to put it away, squaring her shoulders determinedly.
The truth was, this PTA from Bnos Golda was just an excuse. Sooner or later, she was going to have to stop avoiding the public eye by ordering everything to her door and taking taxis wherever she could. A pity it was sooner rather than later, but there was nothing much she could do about it, was there?
“I’m not that nervous,” Pessy proclaimed to her co-teacher and friend, Layala. “What’s there to be nervous about?”
Layala shrugged. “Oh, I don’t know, making a good impression, you know?”
The two of them entered Bnos Golda’s lunchroom, which had been set up especially for the PTA taking place that morning. Tables were arranged so that there was enough space between them to give privacy to each teacher and the parent she spoke to. On each table, a placard displayed the name of the teacher it was assigned to and the grade she taught.
A table off to the side held refreshments, arrayed with pretty napkins and paper goods, and the signs showing parents where to go had been prettily designed.
“Whoa, looks nice,” Layala said, noting the spiffed-up appearance of the room. Pessy laughed.
“Weren’t you the one who was just saying something about making a good impression? Looks like Bnos Golda had the same idea as you.”
Layala smiled. “Well, it does look like it’s going to make a really good impression. Mrs. Gordon is amazing for taking care of all this, no?”
Mrs. Tabak, the eighth grade teacher, came up behind them.
“This is nothing compared to what Mrs. Gordon used to do,” she inserted into the conversation. “I remember other times when Mrs. Gordon personally baked the refreshments. She used to bring homemade things all the time.”
“Really?” Pessy found it hard to imagine their overworked principal baking homemade refreshments.
Mrs. Tabak laughed. “You can’t imagine it, right? But when the school was smaller, Mrs. Gordon was different. I guess she was less busy. Anyway, she’s probably going to come in any minute and give us another prep talk.”
Pessy and Layala nodded. Mrs. Gordon had asked them to be there a half-hour before the scheduled time, so that she could make sure they were all ready before any mothers showed up.
“Meanwhile, we should find our tables, no?” Pessy asked. She eyed the placards on each table, looking for the one that said, “Miss Cooper.” When she found it, she felt the first nervous drizzle go through her system.
In less than half an hour, she would be standing behind that table, confidently greeting the mothers of the students that she taught every day. Layala was right, it really was important to make a good impression on her students’ mothers.
Tentatively, Pessy walked behind the table and placed her bag down on the chair, feeling her stomach squeeze in response.
Just then, Mrs. Gordon bustled into the room, taking in the situation at a glance. Good, it looked like all her teachers were here. To be certain,
she did a quick headcount and nodded to herself. Nobody was missing.
“Hello, teachers,” she said with a smile. “I hope you’re all ready to make a lot of people feel good today!”
The teachers gathered around her, smiling back at her enthusiasm.
“I asked you all to be here early, mostly because I want to make sure none of you are late,” Mrs. Gordon said with a sly smile, “but also because I wanted to quickly go through a few last things with all of you.”
She looked down at the stack of papers in her hand.
“I have a class list for each of you. Please take the list and keep track of which mothers you’ve already spoken to and which you’ll want to follow up with later on. You can also write down any comments or feedback you get which you might want to tell me about afterwards.”
She handed out the lists to the teachers.
“I also wanted to remind you to be careful not to go overtime with any mother. Each girl is important, but I don’t want other mothers to miss out because of one mother who stays much longer.”
The teachers nodded dutifully.
“If there’s anything a mother wants to discuss that you feel she should talk to me about, I’m going to be in my office throughout the PTA, and you can tell them to come right to me.”
Mrs. Gordon looked around at her teachers, at the room, and then back at her teachers.
“Okay, any questions?”
“Only one question: are we allowed to eat the refreshments?” Layala murmured to Pessy, too low for Mrs. Gordon to hear.
Mrs. Gordon looked at Layala, who blushed, but declined to repeat herself.
“Perfect. You all know where to find me if there’s anything you want to ask.” Mrs. Gordon bustled off in the direction of her office.
Mrs. Tabak looked after her, her eyebrows knit. Mrs. Gordon had
seemed a little too uptight, like she wasn’t fully focused on being here. It wasn’t like her seasoned boss to be distracted on such an important day, Mrs. Tabak reflected.
Shrugging, she returned to the table that bore her name on the placard and turned her attention to reviewing the comments she’d jotted down over the last few days.
Distracted or not, Mrs. Gordon would still expect her teachers to be in top form.
Pessy, at her own table, had also pulled out her carefully prepared comment sheet. Mrs. Gordon had given them all a prepared worksheet with each girl’s name and a box to write a thoughtful comment down in. Pessy had painstakingly filled out each box, spending a long time thinking about each girl and what was most noteworthy about her.
As she sat there, feeling her officially nonexistent nervousness grow stronger with each passing moment, she wondered who would be the first parent to show up.
Mrs. Tabak had been right. Mrs. Gordon was distracted.
For good reason.
Back in her office, Mrs. Gordon put away the last few things that had been out on her desk, making sure her office was ready for parents to visit. Usually, she made sure of that a day or two before the actual PTA, but this year, she’d been busy.
Busy going to a job interview at Devorah’s agency. And busy discussing how it had gone, and whether or not to take the job, practically nonstop since then.
It was hard to focus with the same dedication on her principal duties when she knew that she might be saying goodbye to them all very soon.
As soon as the first mother approached her table, a dose of adrenalin shot through Pessy’s veins, and all her nervousness disappeared.
“Devoiry is such a baalas middos,” Pessy gushed effusively to Devoiry’s mother. “I watch her during recess and see how she is always willing to give in to her friends and make them happy. She’s never set on doing it her own way.”
Devoiry’s mother listened with her eyes narrowed.
“I know, Miss Cooper, Devoiry can be a little bit of a pushover, but don’t you think we should teach her to stand up for herself? Maybe she needs a little boost to her self-esteem.”
Pessy’s smile flagged a little. “I, uh, well, I didn’t think of it that way. Devoiry is very smart, you know, I call on her often in class and she always gets the answers right. We make sure she gets a lot of credit for that,” Pessy said, falling back on what she’d written last night about Devoiry’s
answers in class.
Mollified, Devoiry’s mother nodded and smiled. “Yes, Devoiry is very smart. I’m happy you’re getting to hear from her in class.”
“She’s an absolute pleasure!” Pessy assured her.
As soon as Devoiry’s mother walked away from the table, the next mother took her place.
“Miri Pillowitz’s mother,” the petite woman said with a smile.
Miri’s mother was an easier customer, simply smiling and nodding throughout Pessy’s enthusiastic speech. When Pessy finished raving about Miri, her mother said, “And thank you for all your hard work! Miri is very happy in school and the handouts she comes home with are beautiful.”
Pessy glowed at the compliment, though she tried not to show it.
“Thank you!” she said modestly.
One by one, the mothers approached. Each mother listened intently as Pessy talked about their daughter.
“Leah is an absolute doll,” Pessy told Leah’s mother, a tall woman with a blonde sheitel who towered over Pessy. Leah’s mother smiled in gratification.
“Isn’t she simply adorable?” she said. “Leah is just a sweetie pie.”
Pessy smiled back, because Leah was pretty quiet in her third-grade classroom, but it was obvious that at home she was the star of her mother’s eye.
“Of course, we love Leah! She listens so carefully to every story, and she sings along beautifully with the class.”
As Pessy spoke, she watched as the woman lit up and her chest swelled with pride in her precious daughter.
Wow, she really did have to be careful to pump each girl up. Who would have thought that Leah’s mother would be so affected by the praise of her shy little girl.”
When she had a break and it seemed that most of the mothers had already come to her table, Pessy went over to the refreshments table and took a quick drink of water. Her throat was parched.
Then it was back to her table as a lady with a soft brown sheitel and the same strong features as her most notorious student approached.
“Nechama Raizel’s mother?” Pessy asked, immediately connecting the two. When Mrs. Schwartz nodded, Pessy smiled as wide as her overworked lips would allow, and snuck a quick peek back at her paper to see what she’d written.
For the first time since she’d started greeting the mothers, Pessy felt a frisson of nervousness. What had Nechama Raizel’s mother heard about her teacher? •

RECAP OF CHAPTER 23 Zeide tells Naomi how, toward the end of WWII, when he and his fellow inmates were at death’s door, three Wehrmacht officers—one of them Klaus Wangel, Josef’s father—asked for volunteers to come with them and build a military base deep in the Austrian Alps. Zeide was one of the many Jewish prisoners who volunteered, and that’s how the Samson Lager Jewish labor camp started. Then, when things turned in Germany’s favor and they ended up winning the war, the Nazis somehow forgot about that group of Jews. That’s how Wangel was able to get away with leaving these Jews alive, having them benefit him with their work.
Aryeh, Naomi’s husband, slowly begins to recover, even without receiving antibiotics.
List in the back inside cover of Zeide Nachum’s siddur: 1945
March 23 – Digging pits
March 28 – Erev Pesach, we are walking
April 17 – 23 Nissan, Matthausen camp
April 19 – The Wehrmacht comes and chooses people
April 20 – Train ride to Austria
April 22 – Walking through the forest
“Naomi put the siddur back in its place on the high shelf. “Have you ever shown this to Binyamin, Zeide?”
“I don’t remember. Why?”
“Because in recent months he’s been looking for information, answers to some questions he’s had about how this place was established and how it all started, how it was managed, what happened to my father before he passed away…”
“Lots of subjects. Is there something that connects them all, do you think?”
She pondered for a moment. “I think he just wants to revisit things, check them out more thoroughly.”
“Nice explanation.” Her grandfather smiled. “So he sent you to ask me about how the camp was established?”
“No, I asked because the subject came up during one of our conversations. And you didn’t continue writing after you came to Samson Lager?”
“I see it’s not only Binyamin who is taking an interest in these things; his sister seems to be doing so, too! And the answer to your question is no.”
She brushed off her skirt and stood up. “Why not?”
“First of all, we were in the same place the whole time. There were no dates of special changes or movements. And besides…”
He fell silent for a minute and then raised his eyes to his granddaughter. “I wanted to think that all that wandering meant the end of the galus, and that here…well, we hoped Mashiach would be just around the corner.”
“And he didn’t come,” Naomi said in a near-whisper. The words froze on her lips as someone suddenly began knocking wildly at the door, and then tried to turn the knob.
“Mrs. Einhorn! Mrs. Einhorn!”
Naomi leaped to the door and opened it in alarm. Her eyes grew round when she saw the little figure standing there. “Fanny! What happened?”
“Morah Naomi, where is your grandmother?” The seven-yearold’s eyes were opened wide, but she wasn’t focusing. “Because
my mother said that she should come to us fast! Zuska has been sleeping and sleeping since the afternoon, and she’s not waking up!”
“My grandmother is at the infirmary now,” Naomi said as she grabbed her coat. “Go home, Fanny—your house is very close by. I’ll run to call my grandmother, or Dr. Katzburg.”
“How will you go out, Naomi?” her grandfather called from behind her, his voice deep and hoarse. “We’re not allowed out at these hours.”
“Even now, when the diseases are raging and everything?” She shook her head. “Do you think they’ll be angry at me if they catch me?”
“I’ll go,” he said. “They won’t do anything to an old man.” He looked toward the small figure who had disappeared in the darkness. “Stay here,” he said firmly to his granddaughter, and he took his coat and went out into the windy night.
“Zuska is in the infirmary, and she’s still sleeping and won’t wake up,” Fanny said in greeting to Naomi the next morning. “When is she going to wake up? My mother says that no one knows!”
“We’re going to daven,” Naomi said, smiling at her warmly. “Hashem will help, and she’ll wake up soon, get well, and come back to our class.”
The children gathered around, all looking nervous to some extent. Zuska Neiman was the first of the children in the preschool to get sick, and while they didn’t understand the magnitude of it, the fact that Zuska was one of them worried them all, and they were eager to talk about it.
“She’s very sick,” someone said knowingly.
“My uncle is also very sick,” another added.
“Maybe she’ll die,” a little boy contributed.
Zeide’s siddur, “maybe today we’ll try a new game, a story-game, about everything that would have happened if—” she lowered her voice—“if when the Nazis tried to take over the world, they would have failed.”
She was met with a resounding silence that seemed to bounce off the walls.
“Let’s say the Nazis would not have won over America, Britain, and the other nations, but that those countries would have won the Germans.” She sat down on the chair near the board. “And all the Jews would have been released from their labor.”
“Whoever wasn’t dead yet by then,” Surele said.
Dena, there’s something important that you don’t seem to understand.”
“And that is: Vienna is not
Yerushalayim.”
“Not true!” Fanny, Zuska’s younger sister, gasped. “She won’t!”
“B’ezras Hashem she won’t,” Naomi said calmly. “We’ll daven for her together, the way you know how, my little tzaddikim, right?”
“And for your husband,” ten-year-old Surele said quietly.
Naomi thanked her with a nod and a smile and said, “Come, let’s daven for all the sick people, okay?” And when her group recited Tehillim in loud voices after Shacharis, even the children from the other group tried to join in and mumble along.
Rivku, the assistant, didn’t say a word.
Even after breakfast, the atmosphere in the classroom remained heavy and dismal, and Naomi tried to find a way to lighten it up with something optimistic. Her worry for Aryeh and her conversation with Zeide last night—which had been cut off by Fanny’s frantic visit—jumbled together in her mind until they melded into one decision.
“Children,” she said to them, thinking about the inner cover of
“Of course.” Naomi took a deep breath. “And at the end of the war, the Yidden would have gone back to live in the many different countries, like they had been living before the Cosmos-Fuhrer—” she lowered her tone to a whisper, and only her lips formulated the words, “yemach shemo v’zichro”—“rose to power. Maybe they would have even gone to live in the Holy Land. Think about it! They could have merited to live in Yerushalayim, with many other Yidden! And get up in the morning to the pure air of Eretz Yisrael! And hear the birds chirping as they swooped through the blue skies there!”
The older girls sitting at the school desks took deep breaths; some of them glanced at the big window to their right. The younger children, sitting on benches on the side of the room, didn’t quite understand every word Naomi was saying, but they were captivated by the tone of their teacher’s voice and the gleam in her eyes.
“So maybe today we can imagine that we are such children,” she said, “in a world where lots of Yidden remained alive, and they live free lives, without being afraid. And now we are in the holy Eretz Yisrael. Who wants to come with me in a few minutes to pick the flowers of Eretz Yisrael?”
“I want to go to a medicine store there and buy lots of antibiotics for everyone who needs it,” Surele whispered. Her delicate friendship with Zuska had just recently begun to blossom.
“Maybe they will give Zuska antibiotics,” Fanny said thoughtfully.
“There’s a terribly long list of sick people,” Surele replied. “But maybe they really give the children medicine before everyone else, because for them, sicknesses are dangerous.”
“So I’ll make an antibiotics factory!” Dror Elkovitz announced.
“Morah Naomi, do you know that our baby Cherut already got some of the expensive medicine? So I’m going to make such a factory, and Zuska and all the other sick people will have enough, and then everyone will get well!”
Everyone’s eyes were on Naomi.
“Excellent, children! So maybe, instead of pretending today that we’re taking a trip to the flower field in Eretz Yirael, we’ll play-act the stores of the Jews there. Who wants to sell vegetables? Who wants to be the baker and sell bread and cake? Who wants to
sell candies?”
The enthusiasm mounted, and even Rivku and Katy were swept up in the hubbub and helped give out the jobs, the stores, and the positions. Only when Naomi walked out at the end of a very busy day and met Babbe, who looked drained as she leaned tiredly against the wall, was she suddenly cast back into the day-to-day reality, so starkly different from the colorful world that she had created for the children.
“Babbe! How are you doing?”
“Baruch Hashem.” Her grandmother’s eyes were nearly closed.
“Are you feeling okay?” Naomi began to grow alarmed. Please, let Babbe stay well and not chas v’shalom get infected!
“Yes, I’m fine. I’m just exhausted.”
Naomi nodded. “You haven’t slept at all in the last twenty-four hours?”
“Twenty-eight,” Babbe clarified. “I did doze for a few minutes here and there, on a chair in the infirmary.”
“Is everything…” Naomi was afraid to ask. “Is everything okay in the infirmary?”
“I can’t say everything is okay,” her grandmother said, after a few moments. “Aryeh will come out of it, b’ezras Hashem, and recover—I’m almost sure of that. But the conditions of many of the other patients…it’s not so simple.”
“What about Zuska, my student?”
“She needs antibiotics,” Babbe replied, and her eyes opened. “And there needs to be someone to fight for her to get it. Otherwise, she has no chance.”
Naomi didn’t ask if Babbe meant that Zuska had no chance of getting well without the medication, or that she had no chance of getting the medication without a battle. She was totally confused. “Fight?” she asked. “Who?”
“You.”
Naomi looked at her grandmother, who had abandoned the wall and was walking slowly toward her one-room unit. “Why me?”
“Because Leo Sherer is angry at Zuska’s parents for sending their daughters to you. And yes, I know that his Suzy also sent her Dror to your group—but we have a tendency to forgive family, right? But when it comes to others, it’s a whole different story… So you bear
something like an eighth of an eighth of the responsibility here.”
“Me!” Naomi blinked rapidly.
“And besides—and this is the more practical reason—you are Elky CohenKush’s good friend, and from what I understand, she has something to do with all the medicine deals.”
“Medicine deals?”
“They are literally deals.” Babbe glanced behind her. “Dr. Katzburg and I are trying to make the list in the order of priority, medically speaking, and as far as we are concerned, Zuska is first. But,” she sighed, “these decisions are not in our hands.”
“On spices? I never saw such a thing written on the spices in Israel!” Bentzy protested.
“Maybe not on the packages of all the companies,” Dena said as she finely diced the vegetables for a salad. “But there are certainly those who point out that spices and herbs need to be checked before using.”
“Fine,” he capitulated. “Let them write it—what do I care.”
“But it’s not written on your spices.”
“So we are like those who don’t write it.”
“And let’s say a Jew buys a package and there’s a bug in it, and he doesn’t know that he has to look at the spices and not just pour into the pot without checking it first?”
Bentzy opened the pot on the stove and took a sniff. “It would be very sad, of course.”
“And it would also be an aveirah, of course,” Dena said quietly. “I only thought about this after my mother once called me over and showed me a lump in a container of paprika, which turned out to be a fat worm.”
“Yuck,” he said, and picked up the ladle. “But there are no worms in this pot, right?”
She smiled. “I checked the paprika before I used it.”
“You know, Dena, there’s something important that you don’t seem to understand.” Bentzy sat down at the table with his full plate. “And that is: Vienna is not Yerushalayim.”

I’m not a huge fan of fish. But this salmon is so good that even I can’t resist. The spice blend is the perfect balance of smoky and spicy, with a hint of sweetness. It’s a great blend to use on chicken or meat as well.

Q Is American Cheese healthy? Also, what cheeses are best for weight loss?
AAmerican cheese is a type of processed cheese that is widely recognized and used in the United States. The production of American cheese involves a process where natural cheeses, such as cheddar, or similar types, are blended with other ingredients. These ingredients often include emulsifiers, salt, and sometimes additional milk or cream. The mixture is heated until it melts, then poured into molds and allowed to solidify. This process gives American cheese its characteristic texture and meltability.
The healthiness of American cheese is a topic of debate. Here are some factors to consider:
1. Nutritional Content: American cheese typically contains protein and calcium, which are essential nutrients. However, it is also high in sodium and saturated fats, which can contribute to health issues if consumed in excess.
2. Additives and Preservatives: The presence of emulsifiers, preservatives, and other additives in processed American cheese can be a concern for those looking to avoid artificial ingredients.
3. Portion Control: Moderation is key. Consuming American cheese in small amounts can fit into a balanced diet, but overconsumption may lead to negative health effects.
Regarding American Cheese and weight loss, American cheese is not typically considered a dietetic food due to its high calorie and fat content. Dietetic foods are often lower in calories, fats, and sugars, designed to support weight management. However, there are lowfat or reduced-sodium versions of American cheese available that can be more suitable for those following a diet.
Cheese, in general, can impact weight loss in various ways:
1. Protein Content: Cheese is a good source of protein, which can help with satiety and maintaining muscle mass during weight loss.
2. Caloric Density: Cheese is calorie-dense, meaning that even small portions can contribute a significant number of calories. This can be a double-edged
sword, providing necessary energy but also potentially leading to overconsumption. I see many women plateauing when it comes to weight loss if they consume cheese a little too often. Cutting out cheese may help you lose weight faster.
3. Fat Content: The high fat content in cheese, particularly saturated fat, can be problematic if consumed in large amounts. However, fats are also essential for satiety and hormone production.
To summarize, while American Cheese does offer some nutritional benefits, such as protein and calcium, its high sodium and fat content can pose health risks if consumed excessively. For those looking to maintain a healthy diet, moderation and mindful eating are crucial. Choosing lower-fat versions and incorporating a variety of nutrient-dense foods can help mitigate some of the concerns associated with American cheese.
Here are some other cheeses you may want to explore for weight loss and health purposes:
Cottage Cheese: It is low in calories compared to other cheeses. It is also high in protein which helps with satiety and muscle maintenance. It is also available un low and non-fat options.
Ricotta Cheese: It is moderate in calories. Ricotta cheese made from part-skim milk and is high in protein. It also comes in low-fat or reduced fat options.
Feta Cheese: Feta cheese is lower in fat compared to other cheeses. It has a strong flavor so you can use less and this will reduce your caloric intake yet you will feel full and satisfied. It is also relatively low in calories. This is great to add to wraps or over salads.
Mozzarella Cheese: Skim cheese is lower in calories and it contains a nice amount of protein. Fresh mozzarella has lower sodium compared to processed cheeses.
Parmesan Cheese: A little goes a long way, due to its strong and salty flavor. It is lower in calories when used sparingly and provides a nice amount of protein per serving.
By selecting the right types of cheese and consuming them in moderation, you can enjoy the benefits of cheese while supporting your weight loss goals.

The Torah was given in the middle of the desert to show that it doesn’t belong to a specific country or place but to EVERY place! Hashem wants us to bring Torah to the beach, the mall, or any place where we may go.
There was once a Jew, who after moving into a new town couldn’t stop finding problems with the community, when things seemed like they were only getting worse he decided to go to his Rebbe for a visit. Wearing his best outfit, he walked in and the secretary closed the door. Walking closer to his Rebbe he tries to find the words in order to explain why he came. Before he gets a chance to speak, the Rebbe turns to him and asks, “How are things going in your town?” Since this is exactly what he came to talk about, the Jew started explaining all the various issues in his town. When he finished his explanation the Rebbe looked at him and said, “Perhaps this is why YOU were sent to this town, in order to create a more positive environment and influence the community.”
What is one way you can bring Torah to the place where you live – your school, shul, or home?
Of all the places in the world, including sparkling lakes, majestic waterfalls, and beautiful beaches, Hashem chose to give the Torah in the middle of the desert! A desert is an empty dry place that belongs to no one. Hashem chose to give the Torah specifically there, so that no individual, group of people, or place could claim that the Torah belongs exclusively to them based on where it was given. By giving the Torah in an ownerless desert, Hashem conveyed that the Torah belongs equally to everyone and should therefore be spread throughout the whole world. After receiving the Torah in the desert, the Jewish people continued to the land of Israel, and eventually around the world, signaling that the mission of a Jew is to bring the teachings of the Torah to whichever place he or she may find themselves in.
Create a mountain for the Har Sinai out of green clay, make sure it fits inside the cover of the container.
Make sure to take out cover insert. Ask an adult to help you superglue & stick the Luchos to each other and then to mountain, stick the whole thing onto the inside of the cover.
Put on the cover (submerging the Har Sinai) and close as tight as you can.
Create two equally sized rectangles as the Luchos from the blue clay, making sure they are proportionate to the Har Sinai.
Pour your desired amount of glitter into the container and then pour inside some glycerin. About 2-3 tsp. Mix well.
Turn over, shake, and enjoy!!
Using a tooth pick, etch into the Luchos some of the AlephBeis
Pour water into the container until it is almost full to the top.
