PLAY SMARTER
Fergal O’Brien’s TIP TOP CAT has returned an improved model this term and is fancied to defy a career-high mark now he reverts to this longer trip. Fellow hat-trick seeker Time To Tinker rates the obvious threat for the Paul Nicholls yard, although in-form duo Some Detail and Only The Bold warrant plenty of respect too.

Horse welfare is a priority at Taunton Racecourse. At every meeting there are 3 specially qualified equine veterinary surgeons appointed to look after the welfare of the horses in action. One vet is present at the start of each race and during the race follows the runners in a vehicle. Horses can be attended to in the same time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating injured jockeys. A second vet follows the action from the stands and coordinates the required response to any incidents. In addition, throughout the meeting a close check is kept on all horses, especially those returning after a race. It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected around the horse. It is designed to afford the vet and horse some privacy. Please do not assume the worst.
