Our headline race of the day is the Tattersalls Stakes, a fantastic Group 3, which has often seen its leading contenders go on to compete in the Dewhurst late on in the season here at Newmarket.
Our sincere thanks go to all our sponsors for their valued support, which helps makedaysliketodaypossible.Weareproudtosaytoday’scardissponsoredby the European Breeders Fund, the Federation of Bloodstock Agents, Tattersalls, Jockey Club Estates, and Weatherbys. We would also like to thank Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai, for their ongoing sponsorship of our Owners’ and Trainers’ facility.
While you enjoy the thrill of world-class racing, make your way down to the Boulevard Lawn for a taste of Oktoberfest! Soak up the festive atmosphere with traditional food, drinks, and entertainment.

As a leading distributor of horse feed, bedding and supplements in the greater GCC area, I am once again immensely proud to support the Jockey Club at Newmarket Racecourses for the 2025 season. Newmarket is credited as being where thoroughbred racing first started which is why so many from every corner of the world Mile Rowley The appreciate and assemble and The July Course.
As ever, the enthusiasm of Sophie Able and her team at Newmarket translates into a top class service for Owners, Trainers, Jockeys and Stable Staff and for that we are deeply grateful.
I would like to wish all those visiting Newmarket throughout the 2025 season, the very best of luck.
Have a wonderful day at the races today.

How the experts rate the horse’s chances:
2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse.
3. Timeform view and TFR rating
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race.
Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day.

‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.
The Jockey Club would like to thank our Group Partners for their support in 2025

MALTESE CROSS wasn’t knocked about when going close on debut at Ascot and, likely to be sharper this time, the Sea The Stars colt shades preference ahead of another promising type from a top yard in Del Maro Third on the list is Moment of Light, while Moonlight Warrior is by far the most appealing of the three newcomers and the betting should be informative where he is concerned.

There is plenty of substance to DARK SHORE’s form and, with the promise of betterto come now upped to a mile for this nursery debut, he looks the way to go off what looks a very fair opening mark. Loblolly got the job done on the all-weather last time and he is feared most ahead of Godolphin’s Monoceros.

A tight handicap and plenty of these have met before 3-y-o sprinter LADY ROXBY shaped well when posting a career-best to finish a narrow second at Yarmouth 9 days ago and she’s fancied to improve again. Chief danger is dual course winner Royal Velvet who resumed her progress when making it 2-2 underWilliam Buick atYork. That form is working out well and she should appreciate a strongly-run 6f at this track, while Arabian Leopard is 1-1 on this course and may find this race run to suit.

The highlight of day one of the Cambridgeshire Meeting is the Group Three Tattersalls Stakes. The registered title of the seven-furlong contest for two-year-old colts and geldings is the Somerville Tattersall Stakes in remembrance of Somerville Tattersall (1863–1942), a senior partner of Tattersalls bloodstock auctioneers.
First staged in 1962, the contest can sometimes serve as a trial for the Group One Darley Dewhurst Stakes over the same course and distance on Dubai Future Champions Day in October. Wind And Wuthering (1981), Grand Lodge (1993) and Milk It Mick (2003) all landed the Tattersalls Stakes prior to going on to Dewhurst success
Godolphin’s Modern Games is the best winner of recent years Following his success in 2021, he went on to glory later that year in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Del Mar, USA He scored three times at the highest level in 2022 with wins in the French 2,000 Guineas, Woodbine Mile and Breeders’ Cup Mile, while last year he added a further Group One victory to his CV when taking the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.
The late Sir Henry Cecil trained a record five winners of the Tattersalls Stakes Aidan O’Brien leads the way among current trainers with three wins courtesy of King Charlemagne (2000), Aussie Rules (2005) and Wichita (2019)
Similarly, the all-time leading jockey in the contest is the late Pat Eddery with six successes Ryan Moore is the leading current rider with three wins courtesy of Ashram (2008), Wichita (2019) and Nostrum (2022)

Live Your Dream resumes from over two years on the sidelines but still commands plenty of respect given his good record when fresh. East India Dock can prove the pick of the rest in the battle for minor honours.

Probable S.P’s: 5-1 Criminal Shore (IRE), 11-2 Gorgeous Mr George (IRE), Just Typical (GB), 17-2 Sunny Corner (GB), 12-1 Candonomore (FR), Moutai (FR), 14-1 Moon Sniper (GB), 16-1 Renewable Dream (GB), 22-1 Hachiman (GB), Repertoire (GB), 25-1 Savvy Kingdom (GB), 40-1 Buy The Dip (GB), 50-1 Kitaro Kich (IRE)
Lots with chances but CRIMINAL SHORE rates the pick of the weights on the back of a resurgent Musselburgh second so edges the vote from in-form duo Sunny Corner and Gorgeous Mr George. Both Hachiman and Candonomore weren’t seen to best effect at Epsom and Haydock respectively last time out and also need factoring into this very open handicap

At Newmarket Racecourses we believe racing should be enjoyed by anyone and everyone. And one thing is certainly true, the more relaxed and comfortable we feel, the more likely we are to have a great time. So that’s why we’ve created one very simple piece of guidance, to come “dressed to feel your best”.
We’re all unique, and no more so than in our sense of style and comfort. For some, wearing a nice sweatshirt, pair of jeans and clean trainers is what makes them feel confident and at-ease. For others, they might prefer to turn heads with a sharp suit or glamorous dress and high heels, particularly for one of our big race meetings But whatever your tastes, the most important thing when choosing your outfit is, of course, comfort and confidence. So wear what feels right for you and will keep you feeling your best from start to finish, whatever the weather. Here’s some other useful tips and advice for making sure your time with us is as memorable as possible.
Fancy dress can often add colour and fun to our racedays, but please avoid inappropriate or offensive outfits, as anything deemed vulgar or derogatory may be refused entry.
We love other sports as much as anyone, but showing allegiance to a favourite club can sometimes appear antagonistic So, to keep things simple, please refrain from wearing team kits when attending one of our racedays.
Only individuals in possession of a valid betting badge and occupying an authorised pitch are entitled to lay bets in the course of their business. Any individuals found contravening these conditions will be evicted. Members of the public may not use two-way radios, scanning receivers etc, for any purpose at the racecourse.
In an event of an emergency please be guided by our security stewards and by messages you will see and hear around the racecourse We would advise that you keep your personal belongings with you at all times. In the event of an evacuation please do as requested by Newmarket Racecourses Management and security staff They will direct you to a safe place. Do not attempt to regain access to buildings
We are always pleased to hear from our customers and are grateful for any feedback you can provide about your visit today. There are short contact forms available online at thejockeyclub.co.uk/ newmarket and we value your comments
Please keep off the track. The track is for horses, their jockeys and stable staff, please keep them and yourselves safe by remaining inside the barriers. Anyone trespassing on the track will be: Liable to arrest and prosecution; Ejected immediately; Banned from all future Newmarket race meetings; May face a nationwide racecourse ban.
The Racecourse would be grateful if you would observe all Health & Safety requirementswhilstyouareatNewmarket Racecourses. We would request that only those that are disabled use the disabled viewing area and that parents keep a close eye on all children and prevent them from climbing the running rails and getting on to the actual racecourse. We would also like to remind racegoers that we do have a first aid room Should anyone require any assistance please speak to the nearest steward

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Newmarket Racecourses employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
