Updates from the Dean March Athletics

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome Spring! It is hard to believe that we are halfway through the spring semester. The campus has been extremely active! Spring sports have officially started, the spring musical will begin this month, and we fulfilled the university’s mission of service through five spring break service trips. There are many ways that your student can become involved in the university community!

It is difficult to believe that Easter is right around the corner. Classes will not meet on Good Friday, March 29th. Classes will resume on Monday, April 1st at 6:00 p.m. Residence halls and the Aladdin Campus Dining will remain open for Easter Break; however, students will need to complete a form provided by the Housing Office if they plan to stay on campus. The Grey Line is the primary provider for transportation between campus and Pittsburgh and runs 365 days a year. Waynesburg University will supplement their schedule with student-operated shuttles during the designated dates and times. Please have your student reserve 5 business days in advance by completing the Shuttle Reservation Form located on myConnect under University Links.

As always, we are here to support your student and assist you with any questions along the way Please do not hesitate to contact us at (724) 852-3206

2024-25 FAFSA UPDATE

We are encouraged to hear that many of our students and their families have experienced the simplified 2024-25 FAFSA application process. If you have not had that experience, please know you are not alone The process is new and, in response to the delays and problems, the US Department of Education has been diligently working to improve the user experience on the FAFSA application.

If you have not done so, we encourage you to complete your 2024-25 FAFSA by April 1st .

Go to www.studentaid.gov to complete yours today!

I've submitted my FAFSA, what's next?

If you've already completed your FAFSA, congratulations! Based on the recent update from the Department of Education, we anticipate receiving your FAFSA results/information by the end of March.

Please note, however, that we will not begin processing and emailing our 2024-2025 Financial Aid Offer Letters to returning students until the conclusion of the Spring 2024 Semester, approximately by mid-June 2024.

We understand the important role financial aid plays in a student’s college career and we want our students to have all of the financial aid resources and options that will enable them to realize their educational goals If there is any way that we can assist you as you navigate your FAFSA or if you have any financial aid questions, please feel free to contact us at finaid@waynesburgedu or (724) 852-3208. The Financial Aid Office is here for you!

Fall 2024 Pre-Registration Dates for Current Students:

From the Office of Records & Registration:

Notes:

Students will need to schedule a meeting with their assigned academic advisor to obtain authorization to pre-register.

To prepare for the advising meeting, students are encouraged to review their Academic Catalog, which contains major and general education requirements, course descriptions, recommended sequencing, etc.

To increase chances of securing a seat in preferred courses, students are strongly advised to schedule as early as possible (see table above)

Courses can be added to a virtual cart before the eligible date, but registration still needs to be processed via Self Service for enrollment to occur

Students do not always get the exact schedule they prefer. As such, having a few alternate course options is suggested.

LAST

Notes:

Students simply complete an online course withdrawal form. Advisor approval is needed, so students are encouraged to seek advising consultation prior to completing the form

Students must be enrolled in 12 credits to maintain full-time status. Dropping below full-time status would have athletic eligibility implications and could possibly affect residency status or financial aid. Consultation with an advisor and/or other support offices is suggested (and may be necessary) if withdrawing from a course leads to fewer than 12 credits

Disclaimer: This is the withdrawal deadline for a large majority of classes. However, we do offer a few courses that meet only half of the semester; the deadline for these courses would be different.

Graduate and Professional Studies Highlight

Master of Education

There is an opportunity for our Undergraduate Students to obtain their Master of Education (MEd) in one year after finishing undergraduate coursework This is possible through our integrated Bachelor’s to M.Ed. program, which enables students the chance to start taking graduate-level courses during their senior year.

This integrated degree pathway is currently available for students in the elementary/middle level (grades 4-8) and secondary (grades 7-12) teaching certification programs. Prospective students will need to have credit room within their academic plan to participate and should confirm their eligibility with their Advisor. If eligible this integrated degree pathway allows students to take up to two graduate courses and remain within their undergraduate tuition rate

If a student wishes to wait until after they have completed their undergraduate degree, there is still an opportunity to apply. A prospective student can apply during their senior year if they wish to start right after graduation The MEd can still be completed in a year taking classes as a full-time student or in under two years as a part-time student

Anyone interested in learning more about this opportunity can complete the Request More Information Form or contact GraduatePrograms@waynesburg.edu.

HSC 209 Public and Community Health experienced a field trip to WeCare Nursing Home in Waynesburg This semester’s Book Club assignment, Atul Gawande’s 'Being Mortal', set the stage for this fantastic group service opportunity. The service event provided the opportunity for the student volunteers to donate their time and develop a bond with the aging population The connection between the course, book club assignment, and the service trip is to support the personal growth of the community, thus encouraging the cohort to become strong citizens and future volunteers

We are excited to once again share a unique opportunity to directly impact the everyday lives of our Waynesburg students. Orange Week, our crowdfunding event for academic departments and athletic teams, will take place March 15-22, 2024.

Each participating department or team has determined (a) specific item(s), such as equipment, or a specific experience, like a trip or conference, that will have a positive impact on their students’ educational experiences. Your support during Orange Week will enhance programs offered by Waynesburg University, allowing us to continue to offer an exceptional education and experience to our students.

Visit waynesburg.edu/orangeweek to view the full list of giving opportunities for our departments and teams.
