OVERVIEW As we know, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on life and business in every industry in every part of the world. In 2020, governments, politicians, businesses, and individuals had to quickly react and adapt to the pandemic and the new normal that was created as a result.

Some industries withered away while others such as online streaming and virtual meeting platforms boomed in the brand new world. Similarly, during this time companies found a renewed focus on digital marketing, public relations and influencers to connect with consumers which was a hidden blessing for our industry.

Before the whole world went into disarray, we started the year off with promise working on Fuse ODG’s TINA Festival on the final Year of Return program, hosting a meetup in Dakar, Senegal and producing the Africa Luxury Dialogue, our symposium on the luxury landscape in Africa.

Once the lockdown and the pandemic hit, we began working with businesses in Ghana, Nigeria and the US to develop innovative strategies to engage in new ways and building bridges across the African continent.

Take a look at our 2020 journey which was wrought with uncertainty but through it all we managed to stay afloat and support some of our clients believe it or not, to have some of their best financial years ever!

AFRICA LUXURY DIALOGUE WaxPrint Media, a leading boutique digital marketing and media agency based in Accra, Ghana, recently hosted Africa Luxury Dialogue, a forum that explored the luxury landscape in West Africa. The first of its kind event to be held in Ghana, the 2-day program featured representation from international luxury and premium brands from all sectors including Mercedes-Benz, LVMH Moet Hennessy, Kempinski Hotel, Remy Martin, and Versace Collection as well as Ghanaian and Nigerian based luxury entrepreneurs and thought leaders such as Roberta Annan, Fred Deegbe, Jewel Arthur, Ken Kweku Nimo and Tamara Jonah-Goka who participated in dialogues that expanded the concept of luxury in Africa.

BACARDI

As encouragement to stay home during the lockdown period in Accra, we selected 9 influencers to receive Bacardi products to create their own cocktail creations at home and post the videos on social media. This was a nice activity to show how easy cocktails can be made and enjoyed at home.

Each influencer received 1 bottle of spirits, mixers, lemon/lime, branded materials.

Brands were introduced in an organic manner to connect with the influencer’s followers.

With extremely limited availability of social services in the country, local communities in Ghana have had to rely on the generosity of individuals, churches and businesses for basic necessities such as food, water and supplies. Ghanaian business leader, Nana Kwame Bediako also known as “Freedom Jacob Caesar”, a real estate developer, industrialist and hospitality giant, is one of such individuals who has committed both resources and supplies to thousands of vulnerable families in some of Accra’s poorest neighborhoods.

BACK2 AFRICA FE S TIVAL AND TOUR

The 3rd Annual Back2Africa Festival & Tour, organised by The Adinkra Group, an African Cultural Edutainment Resource and Consulting company, took place in regions throughout Ghana over the first weekend in March and featured entertainment events, roundtable discussions and a day of service at the Nyame Bekyre School in Akuapem, Eastern Region. Performers and visitors from the US including DJ Alizay (DC), DJ Bimshire (Barbados), Kweku Sumbry (DC) visited Accra, Cape Coast and Elmina in the Central Region, Nzulezu and Takoradi in the Western Region, Koforidua and Akosombo in the Eastern Region for Black History Month and Ghana’s Independence celebrations. The Back2Africa Festival and Tour is held yearly to bridge the gap between continental Africans and African diaspora audiences through artistic collaborative performances, discussions and African heritage tours.

Muhammida El Muhajir is the Director of Strategy at WaxPrint Media. As a global brand/digital marketing and media consultant, entrepreneur and filmmaker with extensive international travel/study/work experience throughout Europe, Asia, Latin America, Caribbean, and Africa, Muhammida has established a solid reputation and network in her field for her visionary strategies for innovative brands such as Nike, Diesel, Pepsico, and Volkswagen.

Rita Abena Achaa Boateng is the Digital and Experiential Marketing Manager who works on a range of marketing and event projects. She graduated from the University of Ghana with a degree in Economics and Information Studies. Rita is enthusiastic about music, dancing and traveling.

Ruth Nartey, Communications Coordinator for WaxPrint Media is a Makeup Ghana Award nominee for Best Makeup Blog 2019. The Creative Manager at WaxPrint Media, Samuel studied Architecture in Central Univeristy but practices Graphic Design out of preference. He enjoys music, movies and books.

Jesse Kobina Wallace graduated from the University of Mines and Technology with a BSc. in Petroleum Engineering. With a passion for computing and IT, he decided to carve a niche for himself outside his field of study and went to work with a number of IT companies and marketing agencies after school.

He currently works at WaxPrint Media as a Digital Community Manager. Jesse loves music and plays lead guitar for a band.
