Oprah Winfrey HBCU Graduate - Tennessee State University December 8, 2020 Dear Artis Yancey HBCU Tour Supporter,

Thank you for your tax-deductible financial gifts directed towards local Lake County, Illinois students who attend the Artis Yancey HBCU Tour.

Students can choose from ninety-nine (99) HBCUs across America including public and private schools, 2 year and four-year schools.

2017-2018: Black Students earned 43% of associates degrees, 81% of bachelor’s degrees, 71% of master’s degrees and 62% of Doctor’s degrees from an HBCU HBCU’s enroll more low-income students than other colleges, and 70% of HBCU graduates end up with at least middle-class incomes.

Black graduates feel more supported while in college. Students feel more prepared as compared to less than 30% non-HBCU black graduates.

Students that attend an HBCU experience more supportive relationships with professors and mentors. Students are more likely to say their education was worth the price.

Most students say their school was a “perfect fit” verses 34 % of non-HBCU black alumni.

The information listed above are only a few of the reasons that your gifts are making a tremendous difference in the lives of local, Lake County, Illinois students. Your tax-deductible donations allow will allow us to increase the number of student that can attend and award additional scholarships to students that attend the Artis Yancey HBCU Tour.
