Volume 27, Issue 1 June is National Safety Month and the perfect time to start a new safety initiative. Safety month can be about helping people to prevent injuries by calling attention to common safety and health risks. MEveryone has something they live to see or experience and we engage in safe behaviors so we can live for what matters to us. mCurrently, Park Place is working with Med Pro Disposal Service to become a possible site to safely dispose of used needles, syringes, and lancets. Managing these items correctly can prevent injury and disease transmission from needlesticks. Remember to never leave needles or syringes on streets, in parks, or anywhere else where someone could get injured. Park Place hours are located on page 4. Safety is more important than convenience. Park Place is endeavoring to begin a new support group! The lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Support Group will have its first meeting at Park Place on Saturday, June 20th, 10:00am. Going forward the LGBT Support Group will continue to meet monthly. The group will celebrate ethnic, racial, and gender diversity and serve members who are 55 and better. Call 847-2449242 for meeting day and times. If you are looking to save on your prescriptions, consider Waukegan Township’s FREE

I would like to wish a Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures. Special recognition to our male staff and volunteers. No matter how you celebrate Father’s Day, it is the memories made that will last a lifetime. Thankfully, I have a “lifetime” of great memories shared with my father, Mr. Leroy P. Jones, a veteran, community activist, elementary school principal, and consummate family man. Love you, dad. Patricia Jones Waukegan Township Supervisor 847-244-4900
