SPRING 2020
Happy Birthday Maine! While Maine like the rest of the nation is grappling with the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic, it’s easy to forget this is an important year for all Mainers. March 15, 2020 marked the Bicentennial of Maine's statehood, on that day Maine became the 23rd state in the nation. Though the question of independence for Maine started as early as the Revolutionary war, when Massachusetts faltered at protecting its eastern borders from British occupation, there were many obstacles to overcome before Maine would earn its own statehood. To learn more about Maine’s journey from Massachusetts colony to statehood you can find information on-line at: https://www.mainememory.net/bicentennial
