The site given is located in M54NY, initially, the site was an

old church that existed from 1958 until the 1970s. through these years a fire station has been added around the site also some residential houses. the main importance of the church at that time it played an important role whether it was locally or nationally which lead to lots of negotiations to demolish the Church during 1970. currently, the site is a parking lot. most of the older buildings are red brick, however, the new buildings have used stronger red against white facades.


THE LOCAL EDUCATION IN NEED OF AN ECO NURSERY BUILDING LOCATED IN SALFORD NEXT TO SALFORD UNIVERSITY CAMPUS. THE CLIENT'S REQUIREMENT IS TO DESIGN A SPACE THAT FITS 75 CHILDREN FROM THE AGE (2-4 YEARS OLD). THE MAIN KEY FACTOR OF THIS NURSERY PROJECT DESIGN IS TO IMPROVE THE WELL-BEING OF THE CHILDREN BY DESIGNING HEALTHY AND HIGH-QUALITY ENERGY-EFFECTIVE SPACES.

ONE OF THE BEST INSPIRATION PRECEDENTS I LOOKED AT IS THE FUJI KINDERGARTEN, DESIGNED BY THE ARCHITECT TAKAHARA TEZUKA, IN HIS DESIGN HE FOCUSES ON ONE IMPORTANT PART WHICH IS CONTINUITY BETWEEN OUTSIDE AND INSIDE (THERE'S NO BOUNDARY BETWEEN IN AND OUT) WHICH IT'S GOING TO LEAD INTO A POSITIVE EFFECT TO HELP THE CHILDREN NOT TO FEEL INSECURE COMPARED TO A SQUARE CLASSROOM ALSO, THEY WILL FEEL LIKE THEY ARE PART OF NATURE, IN THIS CASE, THIS CASESTUDY WAS A PERFECT EXAMPLE TO USE ESPECIALLY TO THE GIVEN SITE.

MATERIALS / INTERIOR

THE INDOOR ENVIRONMENTS SHOULD BE ALWAYS ATTRACTIVE AND MAKE CHILDREN FEEL SAFE, SECURE, AND HAPPY TO BE THERE TO LEARN AND EXPLORE. ALSO, CHILDREN SHOULD BE IN A PLACE WHERE THEY CAN CONFIDENTLY EXPRESS THEMSELVES, AND THAT ALL COME BY CHOOSING THE RIGHT MATERIALS AND SOFT INTERIOR COLORS.

CHILDREN BENEFIT FROM PLAYING OUTDOORS. THEREFORE THEY SHOULD HAVE EASY ACCESS TO OUTDOOR SPACE REGARDLESS OF ALL EXCEPT THE WORST WEATHER. IN THIS CASE I WANTED TO FOCUS ON LOOKING AT HELPFUL OUTDOOR CASE STUDIES TO CREATE A LEARNING/ JOYFUL ENVIRONMENT OUTSIDE TO ALLOW THEM TO MOVE AROUND WITHOUT MANY OF THE RESTRICTIONS OF BEING INSIDE.

ALL OF THE INDOOR ACTIVITIES LIKE BOOKS, CLOTHES FOR DRESSING UP IN, AND SMALL ITEMS SUCH AS CARS, DOLLS, AND JIGSAWS SHOULD BE ACCESSIBLE BY CHILDREN THEMSELVES TO LEARN HOW TO BE INDEPENDENT EASILY WITHOUT THE NEED OF OTHERS.
