Frequently Asked Questions 1. Is Vital secure? Vital is committed to the security of our clients’ data and provides multiple layers of protection for the protected health information (PHI) you trust to Vital. Vital is HIPAA compliant and has completed the SOC 2 Type 1 report for controls relevant to security, availability, and confidentiality. Vital is committed to continual iteration, maturation, and improvement of our information security program. Our priorities include the HITRUST certification and the SOC 2 Type 2 report.

2. Does the patient health meter show negative indicators? No. If a patient’s health is deteriorating, CareAdvisor will not display this on the patient’s health meter. The image on the health meter will be static. Clinicians and other members of the care team will be responsible for communicating negative trends directly to the patient.

3. How does CareAdvisor determine each patient’s goals? CareAdvisor will create patient goals based on a number of factors. When a patient is admitted to the hospital, there are a number of orders that are placed by the admitting service. Vital analyzes and uses these orders in addition to other data elements to phenotype the data. The personalized goals will help the patient understand specific education, tasks, or activities that will empower them to be an active part in their recovery.
