SEPTEMBER 2025

REDMOND CHAMBER PREMIER LEVEL SPONSORS

DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

September 2025

A SEASON OF CELEBRATION, LEADERSHIP, AND COMMUNITY

Here we are at Labor Day already, wow, what a busy summer. This summer rocketed by, with every week being jammed packed full of outstanding events and activities, and with relatively smoke free days and nights. Our final Music on the Green summer concert will be held on Wednesday September 3. Be sure to join us at American Legion Park as the Hokulea Dancers help us bid aloha to summer in true island fashion.

As we transition into Fall, I hope you enjoyed your summer and all the events the Chamber brought to the community. We thank you for your support, participation and sponsorships – as the host of six Music on the Green concerts, the Fourth of July Parade/Fireworks, the Redmond Brew Fest and Night Glow, our Chamber Golf Tournament and all our summer Coffee Clatters and Lunch and learns, we thank you. We are looking forward to fall and of course make Redmond a special place for the holidays. We do what we do to make Redmond the best place to Live, Work and Play.

Leadership

With fall comes the next class of Leadership Redmond. I know I have already talked about Leadership Redmond last month, but we are now ready to launch the 21st year of the program. I am always eager to get the program started and once again have a very dynamic lineup for this year’s class. I am fortunate to have facilitated each year and to watch the participants leap headfirst into leadership roles throughout the community. The Alumni of the program have gone on to impact almost every aspect of our community. The partnership between the Redmond Executive Association and the Redmond Chamber has created a program that has demonstrated value and effectiveness. I am tremendously honored by the vote of confidence we continue to receive from all our Day Sponsors, participants, scholarship providers and the City of Redmond. Throughout the years, they have continued to see value and support the program with their funds, time and energy. The City support of Leadership Redmond, both by presenting

valuable information during the program and by sending participants each year is truly a statement of the program’s success. I encourage anyone who is interested in learning more about Redmond to check out the program and give me a call. It is not too late to join this year’s class.

Chamber Board Elections

September is also the month where we elect new Board Members, so I encourage you to keep an eye out for your 2025 ballot. Board candidates are selected by a nominating committee made up of current board members and presented to the full Board for approval. The committee reviews all candidate qualifications and which sector of the community they represent. The goal is to have a diverse representation of the Redmond community. All candidates must have expressed a willingness to serve on the Board and understand the duties and responsibilities of a Board member. Ballots will be mailed out by September 26 and must be returned by noon, October 7, 2025. If you are interested in serving on the Board, please notify any Chamber Board member or myself anytime throughout the year.

In Memoriam – Don Lee

In August we lost a true Redmond community leader, Don Lee. Don was a consummate business advocate and constantly working towards building a better business community. Don’s commitment and involvement was far reaching, including serving as the Redmond Chamber Board President in 1981. He was a key leader in creating an economic development agency for Redmond in 1987, known as REDAP (Redmond Economic Development Assistance Partnership), which is now Redmond Economic Development Inc. Don was also a key founder of the Redmond Executive Association (REA) and a passionate member of the Redmond Kiwanis Club. Don Lee made a lasting impact on Redmond and will be truly missed.

Reach Business Leaders Directly in their Inbox

When it comes to promoting your business in Redmond, you want strategies that deliver results without draining your marketing budget. That’s why the Redmond Chamber of Commerce’s email advertising program stands out as a smart, cost-effective way to reach the people who matter most—local business owners, professionals, and community decisionmakers.

The Chamber’s Weekly Update email is sent every Monday morning to over 1,400 engaged subscribers, each of whom has a vested interest in Redmond’s business community. This isn’t a generic list—these are business leaders who open, read, and act on what they see. With an average open rate of 46.5% and a click-through rate of 7.2%, the Weekly Update far exceeds industry standards, where typical open rates hover between 20–25% and click rates average just 2–3%. Those numbers alone show that your advertising message

is much more likely to be seen and acted upon when placed in the Chamber’s email.

Unlike social media feeds where your ad competes with countless posts and distractions, or print ads that are easy to overlook, email offers a direct line into your audience’s inboxes. Readers choose to subscribe to the Chamber’s updates, which means they are already interested in what’s happening in Redmond and are more likely to pay attention to your message. It’s targeted, permission-based marketing at its best.

Another key advantage is the exclusivity of advertising placements. Each Weekly Update offers just three ad options— one Sponsored Content placement, one Premium Top Banner Ad, and one Lower Banner Ad. With only one advertiser featured per placement per week, your business won’t get lost in a sea of competing ads. Instead, you’ll stand out, making your message more impactful.

Sponsored Content is particularly effective for businesses looking to tell a story, share an offer, or highlight an event. With a 600x400 image, 100 words of custom messaging, and a clickable link, it’s an opportunity to engage readers with both visuals and content. Premium Top Banner Ads ensure your business is the first thing readers see when they open the email, maximizing brand recognition. Meanwhile, Lower Banner Ads offer an affordable way to get your message in front of a local audience, perfect for businesses looking for budget-friendly exposure.

Beyond these placements, the value of Chamber email advertising lies in its community credibility. By advertising through the Chamber, you signal that your business is invested in Redmond and committed to supporting the local economy. That builds trust, strengthens your reputation, and encourages readers to choose your services over out-of-town competitors.

Finally, the Chamber’s email ads are affordable, starting as low as $25 per week for a Lower Banner Ad, making this opportunity accessible to small businesses and startups as well as established companies. With a required threeweek commitment, advertisers benefit from consistent exposure, helping build familiarity and drive conversions.

In a time when every marketing dollar counts, the Redmond Chamber’s email advertising program offers a proven, targeted, and cost-effective way to connect directly with the local business community and get measurable results.

Celebrate Summer's Final Sunset with Hokule'a Ohana at Music on the Green

Join us Wednesday, September 3 at American Legion Park for an unforgettable conclusion to this year’s Music on the Green concert series. We're closing the season with a truly special performance by Hokule'a Ohana, a Central Oregon-based Hawaiian dance group that brings the rhythms, stories, and vibrant traditions of the islands to life through movement and music.

Hokule'a Ohana isn’t just a dance troupe—they are cultural ambassadors. Through their performances, they share the heart of Hawai‘i: the stories of the land, the spirit of ‘ohana (family), and the rich legacy of Polynesian music and hula. This is a performance that speaks to all ages, inviting families to sit back, relax, and be transported.

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and appetite—because we’ll also have local food trucks and vendors onsite serving up delicious bites. The fun begins at 5:30 PM, with the Hokule'a Ohana performance beginning at 6:00 PM.'

Why You Won’t Want to Miss This:

It’s the final concert of the summer. Let’s celebrate the close of the season together with one more night of community, culture, and joy.

Hokule'a Ohana’s performance is a unique experience rarely seen in Central Oregon—beautifully choreographed hula, traditional Hawaiian chants, and a touch of aloha magic right here in Redmond.

It’s a chance to unwind with friends, family, and neighbors in one of Redmond’s favorite parks, surrounded by the warmth and connection that makes our community special.

Thank You to Our Sponsors

This final show is made possible through the generous support of local sponsors, Brian Myers State Farm and Republic Services, who believe in the power of community and the arts. A big mahalo to our Chamber members and partners for continuing to invest in local events that make Redmond vibrant and welcoming.

Regional Business Alliance: A Unified Voice for Central Oregon

Formed in 2025 by the Central Oregon Chambers of Commerce and Economic Development for Central Oregon (EDCO), the Regional Business Alliance (RBA) serves as a unified voice for businesses across Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties. The Alliance advocates pro-business policies that drive regional prosperity, champions infrastructure development, and ensures that the needs of local businesses are heard at the State Capitol. The mission of the RBA is to advance a collaborative legislative agenda that supports a thriving business climate and promotes the economic vitality of Central Oregon. By bringing together regional partners and policymakers, the Alliance provides a stronger, more coordinated approach to addressing the challenges and opportunities facing our communities.

Key to this work is the Central Oregon Legislative Caucus, established in 2025. Co-chaired by Rep. Breese Iverson and Sen. Broadman, the Caucus includes legislators from across the region who are committed to advancing priorities in infrastructure, housing, economic development, and workforce development. Their leadership helps ensure Central Oregon’s voice carries weight in statewide discussions that directly impact local businesses.

The Regional Business Alliance exists to elevate the priorities of businesses of every size and sector. By working collaboratively, we ensure that the unique needs of Central Oregon are recognized and addressed. Over the course of the summer, the Alliance has hosted nine roundtable meetings and engaged over 100 business owners and community members in the tri-county area.

As we move forward, we invite you to share your perspective: What are the biggest challenges your business faces today that could be addressed at the State Legislature?

the ranch NEWS FROM Crooked River Ranch Summer Rec Program

What is happening that is so spectacular on the Ranch in July each year for two weeks? Well, it’s one of the most impressive summer camp sessions for the kids from ages 6 or completion of kindergarten years old. This program is offered at no cost to the families that live in Crooked River Ranch. It has been a long running program and has proven to be generational as young campers grow to be Counselor in Training [CIT’s] beginning at age 13 up to age 18. And then return to be an adult volunteer. Volunteers are what makes this such a successful program, and it takes a lot of them. For the CIT’s it gives these young people their first experience in leadership with the close guidance of an adult volunteer. They are responsible for the younger kids, teaching crafts, swimming, and sports with a focus on work ethics such as showing up on time prepared for the day, all while having great fun themselves.

This year’s camp dates were July 14-18 and July 21-25, with the hours of 9:00am-12:00pm.

A typical day in the life of a camper would be signing in at 8:45am. Swimming begins at 9:00am. The kids are separated in to shallow, middle, and deep depending on their level of skill, with adults and CITs teaching basic swimming. 10:00am they are out of the pool and led over to the Ranch Chapel for a snack and songs. 10:30am they split into either crafts or sports [9 years old and above for golfing]. After a busy morning of high energy fun and learning, parents pick up their kiddos at 12:00pm.

Friday is a fun reward day which begins with swimming, then on over to Mac Park where there is a hotdog BBQ provided for the kids, their families and all the volunteers. Spread throughout the park is a bubbly slip and slide, bouncy house, parachute play, and a special obstacle course set up by our local CRR Fire Department headed by Chief Sean Hartley. The kids are given a CRR Summer Rec certificate. All in all, it’s a crazy, fun way to end the week. At the conclusion of the second week, plans are already being made for the next year’s program. Consistency, and the certainty of the program being available each summer is the goal.

Although the CRR Summer Rec Program is only available to ranch residents, we are sharing this wonderful event as one of the many things that make our beautiful community such a special place. If you are interested in purchasing a home in Crooked River Ranch, there are many reasons to call Crooked River Ranch your home and this is just one of those examples of the awesome quality of life that awaits you here.
