When it comes to cultivating innovation and creativity across Baldwin County, Keith Glines is a name that stands out. As the Director of Hatch Fairhope, Glines is at the center of South Alabama’s growing ecosystem for entrepreneurs, researchers, and creatives. His mission—and the mission of the Hatch Fairhope team—is simple but transformative: to give big thinkers the space, resources, and support they need to turn their ideas into thriving ventures.
With more than two decades in technology, publishing, and creative development, Glines brings hands-on experience leading teams and launching innovative projects. That foundation in innovation made him a natural fit to guide the next generation of startups and thought leaders here on the Eastern Shore.
“Fairhope has always been a place where creativity meets community,” Glines shares. “Hatch gives people the tools to turn that creativity into opportunity—for themselves, for their businesses, and for Baldwin County.”
Under his leadership, Hatch Fairhope—supported by the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance—is expanding in both vision and footprint. A new 18,000-square-foot innovation hub and co-working space is planned, designed to foster collaboration among entrepreneurs, artists, and technologists. The expansion represents more than physical growth—it reflects Hatch’s purpose of connecting people and ideas across industries, especially in emerging areas like artificial intelligence and life sciences.
AI now plays a role throughout Hatch’s programs, from predictive tools that support biotech ventures to creative applications within its music accelerator. These efforts have drawn interest from universities and private-sector innovators, positioning Fairhope as a growing center for innovation.
That momentum is also attracting new companies from outside Alabama— including startups from Montana, New York, and Seattle—and inspiring collaborations through events like the Hatch-a-thon, a two-week challenge co-created by Hatch Fairhope and Lower Alabama AI. The event brings together entrepreneurs and professionals to develop AI-driven solutions to real-world problems. The inaugural Hatch-a-thon debuted this summer, with another planned for January.
Glines is also a familiar face in education. As an instructor in the Graphic Arts & Multimedia Department at Coastal Alabama Community College, he inspires students to approach design and technology with both imagination and purpose.
Beyond his professional background, Glines is deeply committed to community. He believes innovation should never exist in isolation—it should serve people, strengthen neighborhoods, and create pathways for local talent to flourish right here at home.
“True innovation happens when you bring people together,” he says. “Hatch isn’t just about startups; it’s about building a community that believes in possibility.”
With vision and a strong belief in collaboration, Keith Glines continues to shape the Eastern Shore’s identity as a place where ideas grow and creativity thrives.

GCC Roofing & Restoration delivers high-quality residential and commercial roofing solutions across Alabama and the Southeast, with a focus on quality, professionalism, and long-term customer confidence. Based in Daphne, Alabama, the company specializes in storm-resilient roofing systems, commercial reroofing, and full roof replacements backed by expert installation and dependable service.
As a certified FORTIFIED™ Professional and Roofer, GCC installs roofing systems that meet the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) standards for severe weather protection. The company is also an approved contractor in the Strengthen Alabama Homes program, but its focus is consistent across all projects: roofs built for strength, longevity, and peace of mind.
GCC Roofing & Restoration operates as the roofing division of Grace Construction Company, a fourth-generation commercial builder with roots dating back to the 1950s. While Grace continues to deliver large-scale construction projects throughout the Southeast, GCC exists to meet the growing demand for expert roofing services with the same standard of integrity, craftsmanship, and client-first approach.

GCC Roofing & Restoration was developed under the leadership of Andrew Forsdick, Vice President of Grace Construction Company , who recognized the need to expand the firm’s capabilities with a dedicated roofing division. What started as a professional connection through local networking soon developed into a collaborative vision for a roofing company built on quality, integrity, and industry expertise. That partnership led to the launch of GCC Roofing & Restoration earlier this year.
Operations Manager Scott Leighton brings the hands-on roofing expertise behind that vision. A Gulf Coast resident and former owner of Leighton Roofing & Solar, Scott has managed residential and commercial roofing projects across the region with a focus on craftsmanship, clear communication, and long-term client trust. Now based in Orange Beach, he leads GCC’s field operations, ensuring every project reflects the company’s commitment to accuracy, durability, and service.
Together, Andrew and Scott blend decades of construction leadership with practical roofing experience, building a company shaped by partnership, guided by expertise, and rooted in doing things the right way.

We launched Fulcrum Residential to meet Baldwin County’s demand for landmark-quality homes built to last. Led by Patrick James and supported by Fulcrum’s commercial and civil divisions, homeowners enjoy hands-on craftsmanship paired with the efficiency and resources of the Fulcrum Group.
What’s the most rewarding part of guiding homeowners from vision to move-in day?
Every project is made up of a million small victories. We love earning trust from owners, architects, and subcontractors and fostering a fun, collaborative team culture. By the time we hand over the keys, our goal is that clients are thrilled not just with the home we built—but with the experience itself. The relationships we build along the way are the most rewarding part.
What advice would you give homeowners starting their custom-build journey?
Choose the right team. A successful build depends on harmony between the owner, architect, designer, builder, and lender. When everyone understands their role and communicates openly from the start, the project flows smoothly and sets the foundation for success.
— Patrick James, Managing Partner, Fulcrum Residential

Whether clients come with a dream or detailed plans, we guide them from vision to reality, streamlining the process, aligning budgets and timelines, and ensuring early coordination for a successful build.

Old Towne Daphne
The 2025 Baldwin County Home Builders Association Parade of Homes Showcase Home masterfully blends New England charm with Southern tradition, creating a timeless residence that feels right at home in the heart of Olde Towne Daphne. Designed by Walcott Adams Verneuille Architects and built by Fulcrum Residential, the more than 7,000-square-foot home captures both coastal elegance and family warmth.
From the outside, the home’s personality shines through its New England shake siding, six-over-one double-hung windows, and shallow roof overhangs accented with ornate Southern frieze trim. Deep eaves, louvered shutters, and richly stained mahogany doors root the home in traditional Southern style, while the inviting porches and an upper balcony nod to the Wallaces’ dual coastal heritage.
by Bailey

We wanted to blend both of our backgrounds and roots,” shares homeowner Jillian Wallace, who grew up on Captain O’Neal Drive. “Jake is from Massachusetts and spent summers on Cape Cod. I’m a Southern girl through and through, and we both have so much pride in where we came from. This house tells both of our stories.”
Inside, arched openings, coffered ceilings, and paneled walls introduce refined sophistication, softened by warm wood floors, layered textures, and subtle pops of color. “The arches and coffered ceiling were must-haves,” Jillian says. “They turned out even better than we imagined. The girls’ bedrooms upstairs are truly something dreams are made of.” Jake adds, “I love the vaulted beadboard ceilings upstairs—they remind me of home.”

Founded in 1946 in Greenwood, Mississippi, Malouf Furniture & Design has remained family owned and operated for three generations — built on a promise to offer beautiful furniture at a fair price.
From a single storefront to a 90,000-square-foot showroom in Foley, Alabama, Malouf continues to grow along the Gulf Coast, combining timeless craftsmanship with today’s leading design trends. Style from the Floor Up. Exceptional furniture, flooring, and mattresses

AArchitect Ryan Baker, Principal at Walcott Adams Verneuille Architects, said the concept was inspired by the couple’s desire to merge two architectural worlds. “When Jake and Jillian came to me wanting a home that blended Cape Cod character with Mobile Bay charm, I was inspired” he says. “We focused on key architectural elements common to both regions—the cedar shake siding, classic louvered shutters, and inviting porches—and let them speak to one another. The result feels completely natural to its setting on Captain O’Neal.”
The home’s success also stems from a strong partnership with Fulcrum Residential, the Eastern Shore–based builder known for its collaborative, detail-driven approach. “Communication is key,” says Patrick James, Managing Partner at Fulcrum Residential. “We work closely with architects and homeowners throughout every phase— preconstruction, production, and post-construction— to ensure every detail aligns with the vision.”
James notes that the project’s fast timeline was made possible by Fulcrum’s integrated structure. “This home was completed in under twelve months, which is remarkable for its size and complexity. Because Fulcrum is part of the larger Fulcrum Group—Fulcrum Millworks, including Fulcrum Civil and Fulcrum Earth & Stone—we were able to manage lot clearing, excavation, and structure fill quickly, allowing our residential team to go vertical within 30 days. All of the cabinetry was also designed and built in-house at our shop in Fairhope. This millworks capacity gives us a unique touch on the project from a customization, quality, and timeline standpoint. That coordination is what makes it possible to deliver high-level detail and quality within a predictable timeframe and budget.”
For Jillian and Jake Wallace, the result is more than a dream home — it’s a legacy. “Home means forever,” Jillian reflects. “It’s the Christmas mornings, the laughter, and the memories still to come. We’re forever grateful to call this our safe place — our home, together.”

Based on the Eastern Shore, Fulcrum Residential builds and renovates custom homes with precision, transparency, and craftsmanship. With in-house millworks and cabinetry, and a full-scale civil division, Fulcrum ensures seamless coordination from concept to completion—delivering thoughtful design, lasting quality, and a client experience defined by craftsmanship, communication, collaboration, and trust.

From individualized design projects to every aspect of specialized community development, we lead our clients through a process that transforms ideas into reality—helping them realize their unique goals with creativity, precision, and purpose.
In a world where development often moves faster than design, Tickle Creative Company stands out by slowing things down— approaching every project with intention, artistry, and a deep respect for place. Founded by husband-and-wife team Ameri’ca and Jason Tickle, the Fairhope-based firm blends creativity and craftsmanship to shape spaces that feel connected to both people and the land.
Their guiding philosophy is simple yet profound: make places that inspire. Together, the Tickles are reimagining what mindful development looks like across the Gulf Coast, balancing growth with authenticity. “We believe in creating spaces that celebrate the character and history of a place rather than replacing it,” says Ameri’ca. “When design honors the environment and the community, it becomes timeless.”
Ameri’ca’s background as a sculptor and public artist infuses the firm’s work with creativity and soul. Jason’s expertise in real estate and development brings strategy, structure, and an eye for what makes communities thrive. Together, their talents meet at the intersection of art and architecture, crafting projects that are both beautiful and enduring.
But for the Tickles, their work goes beyond blueprints and building materials. It’s about nurturing connection—between art and environment, progress and preservation, design and daily life. “We want to develop more than buildings,” Jason says. “We want to build community.” Their projects are imagined, crafted, and cared for by people who truly love where they live.

Windrow is the newest mindful community from Tickle Creative Company—and a profound evolution of our acclaimed approach at Hilltop. Our vision began with the land itself, drawing on the rich history and unique geography of its rolling terrain and vital water features. F or more than four decades, the Eastern Shore Sertoma Club has embodied the true meaning behind its name— SERvice TO MAnkind—dedicating time, energy, and resources to improving lives throughout Baldwin County. Founded in 1964, the club is part of the national Sertoma organization, a network of civic leaders committed to community service, particularly supporting children and those affected by speech and hearing challenges.
Locally, the Eastern Shore Sertoma Club has become synonymous with generosity and hometown pride. The group meets regularly in Daphne to plan fundraising events, host guest speakers, and coordinate outreach projects that make a tangible difference across the Eastern Shore communities of Daphne, Fairhope, Spanish Fort, and beyond.
Over the years, Eastern Shore Sertoma has quietly supported countless causes—providing assistance to youth programs, contributing to local schools, and stepping up whenever a neighbor needs a helping hand. Their impact is rooted in a simple yet powerful mission: to serve, to connect, and to make life better for others.
Beyond fundraising, the club fosters camaraderie and connection among its members. Weekly meetings are filled with laughter, shared purpose, and a genuine spirit of service. In a rapidly growing community, the Eastern Shore Sertoma Club remains a steady reminder that small acts of kindness—when multiplied by many—can create lasting change.
As they often say, “Sertoma means Service to Mankind,” but on the Eastern Shore, it also means friendship, generosity, and a legacy of giving that continues to grow year after year.

I am proud to be a member of Eastern Shore Sertoma. For decades, the club has been dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged children in Baldwin County. The Christmas Tree Lot in Daphne has become a fixture of the holiday season. The Clay Shoot, through the hard work of the current officers and members, drew over a hundred shooters this year, more than ever before. The Club uses the money raised at these events to give grants to a variety of children's charities, from the Baldwin County Schools to organizations such as Baldwin Youth Services and the Child Advocacy Center. However, none is quite so satisfying as giving Christmas gifts to kids in foster care at the annual Christmas Party.
— Liam Scully, Member, Eastern Shore Sertoma Club

It’s that time again the smell of fresh pine, twinkling lights, and Christmas cheer filling the air! The Eastern Shore Sertoma Christmas Tree Lot opens the day after Thanksgiving on November 28th. Atthe heart of Fairhope’s beloved American Legion Post 199 are men and women whose commitment to service extends far beyond their military days — Travis Opsal and Frank Thrasher are two of them. Both veterans embody the camaraderie, humility, and sense of purpose that define what Post 199 stands for: honoring the past while building the future.
Frank and Travis are not just active members — they’re tireless advocates for the Post’s mission. This spring, they stepped far outside their comfort zones to raise funds for the Post’s new facility, taking the runway as models in the Stars, Stripes & Style fundraiser hosted by the Eastern Shore Republican Women at the Fairhope Yacht Club. Their efforts — and their good humor — helped raise more than $4,000 for the Post’s ongoing building fund.
“Frank and Travis are exactly the kind of leaders we all look up to. Their commitment to helping veterans is what we should all strive to emulate” says a fellow Legion member, Dr. Tonya Butler, “They’ll do whatever it takes — whether that’s managing logistics, flipping burgers, or walking a runway — if it helps our veterans and this community.”

That spirit of dedication is what makes Post 199 such a cornerstone on the Gulf Coast. Founded in 1919, the Post has long served as a hub for veterans, first responders, and community events. After its historic waterfront building suffered severe storm damage, members like Frank and Travis have helped lead the charge in rebuilding and restoring the property, ensuring that the next generation of veterans has a place to gather, serve, and heal.
Their efforts come amid a period of renewal for the organization. Construction is completed for the new facility, which is part of a twophase project that includes restoration of the original 1913 structure.
Thanks to volunteers and donors—and the relentless drive of members like Frank Thrasher, who also serves as Adjutant, and Travis Opsal, who is part of the American Legion Riders—that vision is quickly becoming a reality.
For Frank and Travis, service is not a chapter that ended with their time in uniform. It’s a lifelong calling — one they answer through laughter, hard work, and deep community roots. Their dedication reflects the very best of what Post 199 represents: veterans lifting one another up, strengthening the Gulf Coast, and leading by example every step of the way.

When LeWaire Waycaster moved from Brookhaven, Mississippi to Fairhope, Alabama in 2014, she brought far more than moving boxes. She brought a steadfast belief in living with intention, faith, and unwavering purpose—a mindset that continues to guide her family and business today.
Alongside her husband, Wes, LeWaire leads Novare – The Roofing Professionals, a company known for its integrity, craftsmanship, and heart for service across the Gulf Coast. Yet, among all her titles, the one she holds most dear is “Mama.” Together, they’re raising two remarkable children— sixteen-year-old Matti Hamlin, strong, joyful, and driven both on and off the volleyball court, and nine-year-old

Harrison, a witty, big-hearted, and curious leader in the making. Their middle child, James Wesley, born in 2015, now lives in Heaven but remains forever a part of their family and story.
“Motherhood for me includes the children I hold and the one I carry in my heart,” LeWaire shares. “He changed me. He softened me. He taught me how fragile and miraculous life really is.” To LeWaire, motherhood is sacred work—a calling that transcends schedules and spreadsheets. “It’s shaping souls, guarding hearts, teaching faith, and modeling grace,” she says. “It’s messy counters and late-night prayers, hallway hugs, car line pep talks, and learning right beside them. It’s the most important calling of my life.”
As a working mother, she embraces balance through grace rather than perfection. “Some days feel orchestrated and others look like organized chaos… and both are okay,” she laughs. “Being a working mom isn’t about doing everything; it’s about being present where it matters. My children see commitment, resilience, and that you can build big things without losing your softness.”
Through her work, LeWaire hopes to show her children what real-world faith and grit look like. “They watch me protect families, lead a team, and do hard things with kindness,” she says. “I want them to understand that success isn’t measured in titles but in how you serve.”

Her biggest business lesson is simple yet profound: “Every single interaction is an opportunity to make some sort of difference.”
When asked about her proudest accomplishment, LeWaire reflects on her family’s shared journey. “We’ve walked through joy, loss, growth, and grit together and still laugh loudly, serve humbly, and love deeply. Success isn’t a moment—it’s who you become along the way.” And what does she hope her children remember? “That they were and are my greatest joy. That our home was full of laughter, prayer, grace, and love.”
Each year, before school begins, the Waycasters share a beloved family tradition: “Junk Food Weekend.” Everyone picks a sweet, salty, drink, and candy. They pile around the table, play cards and dominoes, and laugh until their bellies ache—celebrating the simple joy of being together.
