San Joaquin Valley Partnership Program November 2010 Focus: San Joaquin Valley kWh and peak kW reductions This Month’s Major Accomplishments: Working with Mark Okino of SCE partners were happy to finally receive a Savings Project Tracker worksheet that showed not only savings, but details such as likelihood of completion, status of project, and project completion date. The implementer highlighted those projects that are being funded by CEC Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants. As of November 1 the VIEW partnership has identified 6.6 million kWh and 904.7 kW in savings. LED lights for the Holiday Light Exchange program were delivered by Implementer to jurisdiction partners on November 1st. Exchange programs launched at various dates across jurisdictions and will run through December while supplies last. A press release with exchange details was sent out the week of Thanksgiving and stories were subsequently written in the Fresno Bee, the Hanford Sentinel, and the Visalia Times Delta. On December 2 the Visalia Times Delta ran a centerpiece story with multiple color photos, and an A1 above the fold reference. By the afternoon of the 2nd four of the ten exchange locations had run out of lights. While we are trying to determine where the article was picked up out of territory, calls from Southern California came in all day Friday and Saturday. Additionally, Costco national has requested a feature piece from the local store where the lights were purchased. The piece will potentially run in the national newsletter. The implementer is working with the local Costco marketing department to ensure accurate information is reported. The monthly Partnership meeting was held on November 4th. Guest Glenn Morris from the Visalia Chamber of Commerce discussed Visalia’s Green Building Program and offered to share best practices with other jurisdictions in the Partnership. SCE’s Javier Mariscal and SCG’s Ron Gorman discussed Reach Codes and the opportunity to bring code training classes to the Partners. The implementer continued to draft the processes and procedures document for benchmarking on the Strategic Plan. Key Issues or Emerging Concerns: The County of Kings Partner does not have the staff time to devote to a Jurisdiction Needs Assessment follow up meeting. The Utility Partners and Implementing Partners will probably have to schedule a time to travel to the County of Kings’ Partner’s office if a face-to-face meeting is preferred.
