The year 2021 22 was a year full of hope and also despair. It was a roller coaster ride for all of us where at one end we were looking forward to opening our schools physically and on the other were extremely cautious and anxious about the safety of our children and staff In addition to this, there were always clouds of uncertainty looming large over us.
After a full academic year behind our screens, we started the new session with a plan for opening physically. Our experience of the year gone by taught us the agility to shift back to online classes promptly as the situation demanded We continued to focus on remaining connected with our children through online classes. With an outreach of 1600+ children, more than 80% were connected online.
In the last quarter of 2021, we opened physically for a brief period and then had to close once again due to prevailing Covid situation Its only in January 2022, we were finally able to welcome all our children for physical classes at Vidya & Child schools.
With their tiny faces covered with masks, we could feel their joy and enthusiasm through their smiling eyes.
Vidya & Child was continuously in touch with the parents, online and/or offline ensuring that we understand the ground realities, are able to support them emotionally and help them stay in the loop with respect to their child’s education especially during the online period. It would not have been possible to maintain connect with over 80% children without the trust and understanding of our parent community
Just as we were getting our younger children back to physical school, it was also time for our senior batches to choose their career streams and fly off to pursue their dreams. Our senior children of grades 10th and 12th attended numerous counselling sessions which helped them identify and decide on their possible career paths. Besides academics, Creative and Life Skills classes continued integrated to their daily schedule and gave our children the opportunity to express and in a way heal themselves internally of the various life experiences that the pandemic made them go through.
The teachers of Vidya & Child stood by the children like rock solid pillars providing them much needed strength and emotional support above all else.
Vidya & Child’s journey continued through the year amidst challenges and hurdles The year 2021 was also about taking time to 'pause’ and ‘reflect’ on various aspects of our work so as to ensure that as an organisation we are continuously learning and improving upon the quality of our interventions with all our stakeholders the child, the parent and the employees.
In our quest for learning and improvement, we asked a few questions to ourselves How can we focus on children who need that little extra attention, what can we do to provide better career exposure to our senior children, how can we further enhance the trust that we have of our parents, how can we enable our teachers to connect better with our children and more…
This whole exercise helped us set a new benchmark for ourselves as this is not a one time exercise but a life long process of learning, self review and enablement for each member of Vidya & Child. This would directly impact the quality of education for our children; career paths that our children choose; system and processes that we have; the relationship that we share with the parents; training that we provide to our teachers and the connect that we have with our employees.
The last two years have been very tough but it is with the support and blessings of all our well wishers that we have the confidence to forge ahead and continue to learn so as to make a difference in the lives of our children
Vidya & Child today is more agile, more resilient and more determined to work in a more focused manner keeping all the stakeholders in mind.
We would like to thank each one of you for your unwavering belief and commitment towards the cause of Vidya & Child. We look forward to your continued support and blessings so as to work towards our goal of providing Quality Education to First Generation Learners.
Vidya & Child was established in the year 1998 with the objective to provide 'Quality Education' to First Generation Learners. The journey which started with 2 children, reaches out to 1600+ children today. We have less than 5% dropouts and over 200 children studying to make careers in the fields of their choice.
Vidya & Child provides complete education lifecycle support to the child from Nursery to Class 12, Vocational & Graduation and beyond, focusing on holistic development of each child through a creative learning environment that encompasses academics, arts, sports along with opportunities for self exploration through value based life skills curriculum.
This ensures that EACH child completes the full cycle of school education and also pursues higher education
We are immensely proud of our children they are supporting their siblings after completing their own higher education, are working in renowned companies focussing on their careers, have helped their parents move to better living conditions and are a role model for the entire community.
In the last two years of the pandemic, Vidya & Child stayed rooted to its objectives and ensured that we remain connected with all our stakeholders. Our interventions included online academic, creative and life skills classes, online PTM's and parent workshops, online Teacher trainings and employee connect sessions and more
The year 2022 started on a good note as January onwards, with improvement in the Covid situation, we could open the school physically for all our children with appropriate covid precautions.
At Vidya & Child, we were delighted to have our children back to school.
A long term vision is essential to realize the true impact of education.
We work through the complete education life cycle of a child and strongly believe that we need to provide support for this period in the child’s life; to enable the parent to believe that the child’s interests are being looked after and that we will continue to offer the opportunity as long as it takes for the child to be independent
Therefore, it is imperative that we support the child through his/her learning years, ie from the age of 4+ to 20+ years so that the child can avail of the benefits of the education process that exist in the country today.
The life cycle approach caters to the child's learning needs as he/she grows through the primary and secondary years to complete school education, pursue higher education and charter new territories based on his/her unique potential.
Vidya & Child, being a completely grass root level organisation since the last 23 years, firmly believes in the direct work that is needed to be done with each of our stake holders the child, the parent and our employees.
Through the current pandemic year, we pursued our work with the objective to reach out to EACH CHILD, PARENT and STAFF and focused our efforts to remain rooted to our core areas of work and made alterations and adjustments as per the need of the hour basis ground realities.
