Education is a fundamental right that every child should have access to, regardless of their background or socio-economic status. For underserved children in India, education plays a crucial role in transforming their lives and opening doors to a brighter future. The immediate and long-term effects of education on these children are profound, not only on an individual level but also on the overall development of the nation.

Firstly, education provides marginalized children with the necessary knowledge and skills to break free from the cycle of poverty It equips them with literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking abilities, enabling them to pursue further education or vocational training. Education empowers these children by expanding their opportunities for employment, thereby increasing their chances of securing better-paying jobs and improving their socio-economic conditions.

Additionally, education plays a crucial role in fostering innovation and creativity among underserved children. It equips them with the necessary tools to tackle complex problems, adapt to a rapidly changing world, and contribute to scientific advancements and technological innovations. By nurturing their intellectual potential, modern education in India cultivates future leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers who can drive India's progress in various fields.

To ensure the effective implementation of education for at-risk children in India, it is imperative to address the existing challenges. These include inadequate infrastructure, a lack of qualified teachers, and financial constraints faced by marginalized communities. The government, in collaboration with civil society organizations and international partners, should prioritize investments in education, improve infrastructure, enhance

teacher training programs, and implement inclusive policies to remove barriers and ensure equal access to quality education for all children

Founded in 2009 by the Shiv Nadar Foundation, VidyaGyan is a groundbreaking educational initiative in India aimed at empowering rural, economically disadvantaged students It provides a transformative opportunity for these students by offering them a world-class education completely free of charge. Through a rigorous selection process, VidyaGyan identifies talented children from marginalized backgrounds and nurtures their academic and leadership potential. The program focuses on transformation in education and an overall holistic development.

Hailing from a community where engineering was perceived as a male-dominated field and societal norms restricted women's interaction with science, Dakshayani embarked on a mission to challenge these barriers and redefine the role of women in STEM. Recognizing that biology does not limit women's capabilities but rather society's perception and gender roles, she initiated the SteministCosmos project as part of the New York Academy of Sciences' 1000 Girls, 1000 Futures program. Her efforts sparked a transformative chain reaction, inspiring over 50 girls to embrace the wonders of science and pursue careers in STEM. Dakshayani is grateful for the opportunities she has received and excited to contribute in return. With an unwavering belief that science is for girls, she proudly identifies as a STEMinist, knowing that millions of other girls deserve equal access to science labs, computer labs, and research think tanks.

Her experience of living 400 km away from home instilled independence and self-reliance from a young age VidyaGyan fostered discipline and courage in her. Although she spent seven years away from her parents, with just a 10-minute monthly conversation, those years became

transformative. Like a lotus with seven petals, Dakshayani emerged from the darkness of her surroundings, exploring and blossoming at VidyaGyan, guided by her mentor. Now, she is prepared to dive into the vast ocean of opportunities before her

In the face of change, some build walls while others construct windmills

Since childhood, Dakshayani has been winding her own spring, and whenever possible, she strives to electrify the lives of those around her through community-driven innovation.
