Itisimportanttounderstandtheimmediateaswellaslong-termimpacts ofqualityeducationonchildrenParticularlyduringtheirimpressionable years,educationplaysapivotalroleinhelpingchildrenbuildtheir personalities,broadentheirperspectives,andstrengthentheirlearning curveforapromisingfuture.


ButforchildrenfrommarginalizedneighborhoodsinIndia,thesituation isbleak,sinceanestimated46.24millionchildrendidnotattendschoolin 2016.(DISE2016–17andRGICensusPopulationProjection2016).Several childrenaredeniedtheirfundamentalrighttoattendregularschooland getagoodeducationforavarietyofreasonsPovertyisoneofthekey factorsthataffectsthedecisionofmanyparentstosendtheirchildrento workfordailyincomeratherthantoschooltoacquireknowledge. Childrenareboundtoworkatplaceslikefactories,roadsidedhabas,and otherunlawfulbusinessestofeedmanymouthsbackathomeInIndia, therearearound10millionworkingchildren(undertheageof14)asper the2011Census.

Additionally,anotherreasonwhysomanyyounggirlsareheldbackfrom receivinganeducationisbecausetheyaregivenlesserprioritythanboys duetoadeep-rootedgenderdisparityParentsinmanyhouseholdswould ratherhavetheirgirlstakecareofthehouseholdchoresandgetmarried, whichoftenleadstoearlymotherhoodandalackofjobopportunities. AccordingtoCensus2011,thereare13millionmarriedadolescentgirlsin Indiabetweentheagesof10and19
Suchcircumstancesconsiderablyholdbackchildrenfromaprosperous life.ThisiswhereVidyaGyanhasbeenmakingabigdifferenceinthelives ofpotentialstudentsbyrunningaruraldevelopmentprogram. VidyaGyan,establishedin2009,isaninitiativeundertheShivNadar FoundationthatfocusesonthetransformationofIndiabyinvestinginthe youthofthecountry.Itisthenation’sfirstruralleadershipschoolinthe stateofUttarPradesh,India’smostpopulousstate,thatoffersacarefully craftedleadershipcurriculumfordeservingstudentsVidyaGyanfocuses
