Dear Fellow Members,
In January, Lynne and I usually stay close to home, winding down from the bustle of the holidays but this past January was very different. I’ve had the opportunity to speak to so many of you about the proposed Clubhouse project shared with the membership on January 15th. Through these conversations, I was reminded how fortunate I am to have so many friendships here at Vicmead.
I am incredibly appreciative to everyone who has taken the time to have honest conversations with me, the Development Ad Hoc Committee, and/or my fellow Board members. Your questions and input are invaluable and underscore the strength of the Vicmead community. This past week we gathered and posted supplemental FAQ information and floor plans for the project on the website, and I encourage you to review them. As we continue our conversations, I recognize that some topics may still need further clarification. I’d like to address a few key points:
Many have asked us when the vote will be distributed. We wanted to be sure that the membership saw the proposal and had the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback. Then we we will proceed with the vote. If you haven’t seen the presentation, floor plans or both sets of frequently asked questions, they are available on the home page of www. vicmead.com.
Other approved needs will continue to be addressed. The Indoor Racquets Locker Room has been slated for improvements in 2025, before the start of the proposed Clubhouse project. And as it wasn’t included in the scope of the project, a plan to update the pool house locker rooms will now be prioritized in the upcoming budget cycle using normal annual capital dues.
With a no vote by the membership, you will have to pay significantly more in annual dues and capital costs with no visible change because the Club is obligated to fund the pending repairs and infrastructure upgrades. If the proposed project passes, we do not expect dues to increase any more than the normal increases that we see each year which are in line with clubs in our area (our dues increase this year was markedly less than some area clubs).
Last, we've received questions about how the new Clubhouse will impact our food offerings. This investment means we are committed to making Vicmead a destination not just for your sporting activity of choice but for its cuisine. The new space will allow us to provide a selection of simpler, more casual options—like a delicious burger — for those looking for a quick, satisfying meal, while also offering high-end dishes that truly stand out.
Outside the excitement of the proposed project, the energy at the Club has been centered around the sitting by the fireplaces at the Clubhouse and enjoying the remaining days of the Paddle season. I hope you will consider coming out for the Paddle Pop-Up! “Bunker” on February 20th. Like the Bidermann Bunker, no reservations are necessary, so come by and have a cocktail, order one of the delicious small plates and join us for a great time together.
With Spring on the horizon, we’re already looking forward to the golf season. The Golf and Grounds team is preparing to welcome us back for our 60th season of Bidermann golf with an earlier opening this year on Tuesday, April 1st This will be the earliest our Club has ever opened, providing our members with ten additional days of utilization in the springtime! We’re pleased to inform you that starting this fall, we’ll be offering more dining opportunities at the Farmhouse with the lunch service extended through October. The golf facilities will then close the first Sunday in November. Please note, Green aeration will be pushed back a full week in October and fairway aeration will take place in November (after the closure). Adding an extra week of fall golf “pre-green aeration” will be fantastic!
As always, I appreciate your engagement and look forward to seeing you around the club. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. 302-893-4359 or dsolacoff@me.com

We had a full house for our Men's Member/Member/Guest event. The snow added a magical touch as play stretched into the evening. In a thrilling 3-3 tiebreaker, John Matson clinched the win with a crushing stuff volley, teaming with Evan Niemkiewicz to defeat Rob Heflin and Kurt Hutter. Huge thanks to all who joined in the fun!
