March

Dear Fellow Members,

Thank you to all who have already submitted their ballots! For those who have yet to do so, we encourage you to take a moment to send them in. You can drop your ballot off in person at the Clubhouse or mail it using the pre-stamped envelope provided. If you are a voting member and have not received your ballot, please contact Jill Noval at jnoval@vicmead.com or 302-655-3333 ext. 120. Please be sure to have your voice heard as part of the process.

In last month’s letter, I expressed my appreciation for the time we’ve spent talking, and I want to reiterate how invigorating it has been to connect with fellow members—not just about the proposed project, but also about the future of our Club. My fellow Board members and I gathered just last week for the annual Board retreat, reflecting on the year that’s passed and refocusing our efforts as we move into 2025. A common theme in our conversations was how grateful we were for the opportunity to engage with each of you during the outreach. We are all looking forward to spring and the quickly approaching summer, when we’ll have even more opportunities to connect and spend time together.

Those opportunities start now. On March 6th, we’re excited to bring back the Bidermann Bunker-style event, which will “pop up” at the Paddle Courts. If you haven’t experienced it yet, this fun and casual event is a great way to enjoy food and drinks from our Culinary team—no reservations required! This Mardi Gras-inspired event promises fantastic food, and I’m especially looking forward to tasting the menu while watching the “Divorce Court” Paddle competition, where mixed teams will face off in friendly competition.

A special thank you to Chef David and the Fitness Committee for launching a new hiking initiative with the Hiking Club. Chef David, an avid hiker who has explored much of the Brandywine Valley and beyond, will be leading our first hike on March 15th at Brandywine Creek State Park. We’ll explore the Tulip and Hidden Pond Trails—both of which are dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your furry friends along.

I encourage you to enjoy dining at the Club over the next couple of weeks before we take a brief break for spring cleaning (March 17th - 31st). The team will be finishing the floors, perform the annual deep clean, and prepare the outdoor furniture and the entire Club for the season ahead. Indoor Racquets and Fitness will remain open during this time. We’ll then be back in full swing April 1st, kicking off with Prime Rib Night, dining al fresco, and celebrating Opening Day at Bidermann for both the Golf Course and Farmhouse Lunch.

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing you all soon!

Warm regards,

W. Timothy Cashman, II
