Foreign Minister Rodriguez: The people of the world recognize the pacifist vocation of Venezuela Caracas, April 2, 2016 (MPPRE) .- The Chancellor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez Gómez, gave an assessment of the Tenth Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), she highlighted the importance of the support given by the multilateral body on the renewal of Executive Decree issued by Barack Obama.

"The most important thing for our country is the support given by CELAC to the government of President Nicolas Maduro and the people of Venezuela, rejecting the renewal of Obama’s decree that sees Venezuela as an unusual and extraordinary threat both to the USA national security and its foreign policy” extolled the Chancellor.

She noted that President Nicolas Maduro has ordered all avenues for political dialogue and diplomatic channels to prevail before the imperial actions that violate international law, in addition to the principles of the UN Charter.

Chancellor recalled the statement of the CELAC, held in Havana, Cuba, where the vocation for peace of our territory is reflected.

"On the occasion of the recent Nuclear Security Summit, we are a region free of weapons of mass destruction, nuclear weapons, and when we see the current world situation, terrorism in other countries, this is a precious commodity that as Latin American and Caribbean we have to preserve," said Rodriguez.

On behalf of the Venezuelan Head of State she thanked the solidarity expressed by other regional bodies such as the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) and the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) and on the global scale in the case of mechanisms: G77 plus China and Countries of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

"These statements reject the application of unilateral and extraterritorial measures, they make a call for the respect of international law, respect for diplomatic measures and political dialogue (...) this shows that Venezuela is not a threat. From the soul of Venezuela the people of the world recognize the desire for peace prevailing in our people" stated Rodriguez.

CELAC issues statement in solidarity with Venezuela

The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) expresses its rejection of the application of unilateral coercive measures contrary to international law.

CELAC reaffirms its commitment to the full observance of international law, the peaceful settlement of disputes and the principle of nonintervention.

CELAC reaffirms the principles of the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace as agreed on at Second Summit, held in Havana in January 2014.

CELAC reiterates the content of the special communiquĂŠ adopted within the framework of the Third Summit of the CELAC in Belem, on 29th January, 2015, the special Statement dated 12th February, 2015, and paragraph 13 of the Political Declaration of the Fourth Summit of the CELAC in Quito, Ecuador.

Similarly, CELAC calls on the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, to initiate a dialogue on the principles of respect for sovereignty, non-interference in the internal affairs of States, self-determination of people, and democratic and institutional order in accordance with international law.

Mercosur rejects extension of the US Executive Order against Venezuela States Parties to the MERCOSUR and Associated States, reject the decision of the Government of the United States of America to extend for one year the validity of Executive Order of 9th March 2015 on Venezuela, which is an interventionist threat to sovereignty and the principle of nonintervention in the internal affairs of other States.

They reiterated what was stated in the Joint CommuniquĂŠ of the States Parties of MERCOSUR and Associated States adopted on 16th July 2015 in Brasilia and reaffirm their commitment to the full observance of international law and the peaceful settlement of disputes. The extension of the effective date of this Executive Order circumvents without any consideration its repeal that MERCOSUR and Associated States had requested.

Likewise they appealed to governments to refrain from unilateral coercive measures that violate international law and disrupt an institutional dialogue for the people of Venezuela to reconcile and overcome differences without intervention or foreign pressures.

UNASUR

UNASUR COMMUNIQUE REGARDING USA RENEWAL OF EXECUTIVE ORDER ABOUT VENEZUELA.

The Member States of the Union of South American Nations, reject the decision of the Government of the United States of America to extend by one year the period of validity of the Executive Order of 9 March 2015 on Venezuela, which constitutes a threat that interferes with the sovereignty and the principle of non-intervention in the internal affairs of other States.

The Member States reiterate what was expressed in the CommuniquĂŠ of the Union, approved by the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs on March 14, 2015 and reaffirm their commitment to the full observance of International Law and the peaceful settlement ofdisputes. The extension of the validity of this Executive Order circumvents without any consideration the request that UNASUR presented to repeal the same.

Likewise, UNASUR appeals to the Governments to refrain from implementing unilateral coercive measures that contravene international law and disturb an institutional dialogue that will allow the people of Venezuela to reconcile and to overcome differences without foreign intervention or pressure.
