Medanos De-Coro National Park -

This is a Venezuelan National Park located in the state of Falcón, near the city of Coro on the road that leads to Paraguaná.

The National Park was created in 1974. The park is easily reached by bus or taxi from Coro. The massive sand dunes, known as Médanos, spread over an area of approximately 5 by 30 km. They can reach 40 m (130 ft) in height and are constantly transformed by the unrelenting wind.

Houngbo, Togolese candidate for the post of President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), whose elections will be held

International Fund for Agricultural Development from 14 to 15 February 2017 in the context of the 40th Meeting of the Governing Council of IFAD in the city of Rome.

At the meeting, the Togolese candidate presented to the Venezuelan Foreign Minister his work proposal, his vision and strategy, which he hopes to apply to the service of this institution should he be elected. Among them, he emphasized his desire to promote a general program aimed at improving food security by 15% in order to tackle extreme poverty, as well as achieving greater access to food for the poorest.

Russia: Venezuela is a key ally in defense of international law Russia recognizes Venezuela as a key ally in the international scene because both nations are united by principles of defense of international law, multilateralism and their common interest of rejecting interferences in internal affairs of sovereign countries.

Vladimir Putin’s government emphasizes that "Venezuela has a significant role in the processes of integration of Latin American, which is exceptionally important in the context of the growing presence and influence of this region in the international arena."

This was expressed by the Government of the Russian Federation through a statement published on the Ministry of foreign affairs website in anticipation to the meeting that will take place on 6th of February that will include the foreign ministers of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, and Russia’s, Sergey Lavrov.

"Interest in cooperation development with Venezuela in the framework of the powerful alliances of Latin American countries, such as the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) and the Bolivarian Alliance For the Peoples of Our America (ALBA)," the statement added.

In the statement, Russia reaffirms its support for Venezuela's independent foreign policy and stresses that both countries are united by "the principles of multilateralism, the primacy of international law, noninterference in internal affairs of sovereign countries, rejection of application of extraterritorial legislation and rejection of implementation of coups d'état to change governments. "

Russia also appreciates the growing economic, educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries, and ratified its commitment to invest in joint energy projects.

In this regard Russia advocates for peace and stability in Venezuela and rejects any destructive intervention from outside meddling in internal affairs of the Bolivarian nation.

Russia also emphasizes that both countries work together productively according to the systems and policies of the United Nations governing bodies and other international bodies.

"Today, I thank all those soldiers who 25 years ago had the courage to rise up for the country. He indicated that after the manifestation of the Bolivarian Revolution and the refoundation of the country, Venezuela now has a united Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Fanb) that is empowered by the Constitution and the people of Venezuela.

The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, indicated that 25 years after the military revolt of February 4th 1992, led by Commander Hugo Chávez, the Bolivarian Revolution still stands firm in its commitment to defend the sovereignty of the homeland and the rights of the people of Venezuela.

He explained that all this changed with the entry of Commander Chavez to the presidency, and "it is no longer a handful of officers and a group of soldiers as it was back then on February 4th, now there are thousands and thousands of officers and soldiers with the best weapons that Venezuela never had in order to defend the sovereignty, the constitution and the people.”

He also stressed the importance of strengthening the organization of Local Committees for Supply and Production (CLAP) as part of this economic offensive. "We also have to multiply Clap in all communities, we have to improve supply, production work in the communities, and to strengthen the plan in order to reach 6 million households served by Clap nationwide," he said.

In his address, the President called on organized popular power to be alert, in constant work of improving missions and great social missions, to make the Bolivarian Revolution increasingly irreversible.

A set of strategies to restart dialogue between countries and a culture of coexistence and respect among nations of the world are being prepared by the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), informed President Nicolás Maduro who holds the pro tempore presidency of the bloc.

The Head of State, together with the president of the Villa del Cine, José Antonio Gómez, toured the installations of the film complex located on the Guarenas-Guatire highway.

Kenya cabinet okays proposal to set up Open University Kenya is to establish its first Open University after the Cabinet recently approved a proposal that has been on the table for years.

Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i told a national conference on higher education in Nairobi last week that the Open University is one way of expanding access to higher education at a low cost. Currently, Kenya has 70 public and private universities, with a total enrolment of 540,000 students.

At the conference, organised by the Commission for University Education and held at Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Dr Matiang’i outlined legal and policy interventions being pursued to promote higher education. Among other moves, the government is revising the laws to give powers to the Commission for University Education to regulate quality and standards.

The Open University model provides distance teaching and allows more students to enrol for degree programmes because it is not bound by physical infrastructure. It allows flexibility, where students study at home and at their convenience, using pre-packaged learning materials and online resources.

The government is also enhancing funding for research and innovation in higher education, raising its financial allocations from the previous 0.5 per cent of the gross domestic product to two per cent.

The best example on the continent is the University of South Africa (UNISA) with more than 400,000 students at home and abroad.

The secretary of the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), Prof Alexandre Lyambaje, called for regional approaches to research programmes, saying universities stood to benefit from funding for joint initiatives.

In the region, Tanzania pioneered the Open University model in 1993. The Open University is being set up at a time when East Africa is pushing for the creation of a common higher education zone, where students can
