African Union celebrates 64th Anniversary The world pays homage to the great men and women such as Kwame Nkrhuma, Gamal Nasser, Sékou Touré, Julius Nyerere and the great fighters like Thomas Sankara, Agostino Neto, Amilcal Cabral, Nelson Mandela, Patrice Lumumba, Wangari Maathai, among many sons and daughters of Africa Revolutionary and protagonists of important socio-economic achievements that brought progress to their people and political sovereignty to their Nations.

Venezuela as an Observer Member of the African Union recognizes it as the most important organization on the continent in the search for peace, unity, representation and defense of the interests of the African countries that comprise it; As well as its active and decisive presence in multilateral organizations in order to reach solutions that contribute to peace and global development.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela ratifies the paths of friendship and cooperation with the countries of Africa, consolidated by President Nicolas Maduro and planted with deep love for Commander Hugo Chávez Frías, who always affirmed that the African Continent was the true Mother Country, of people who fight for their freedom and independence with courage and determination.

OPEC agrees to extend oil production cut for nine months OPEC members agreed on to extend crude oil production cuts for a further nine months in order to stabilize market prices says Saudi Arabia's Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih .

The agreement that curbs global oversupply will run until March 2018 and plans to reduce production to 1.2 million barrels a day to 32.5 million barrels in 2017.

Other non-OPEC countries are waiting to make a decision on the agreement.

In December 2016, 11 non-OPEC countries agreed to reduce production by a total of 558,000 barrels a day, including Russia (300,000 barrels / day). www.mre.gob.ve

Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) celebrates its 42nd Anniversary The People and Governments of the West African region celebrate 42 years after the creation of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

This organization, founded on May 28, 1975 with the Treaty of Lagos, has its place in the world as a successful mechanism of regional integration and has become a model for Africa and the whole world.

Since 2010, Venezuela, as an Observer Member of ECOWAS, has recognized it as the most influential body in the West African region, as well as its decisive role in defense of regional peace and security, democracy, promotion of economic processes, Integration and infrastructure development as fundamental bases of human development that have made that sub region to be one of the world's largest economic economy.

On this anniversary, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela ratifies its ties of friendship and cooperation as were supported by Commander Hugo Chávez Frías and are now being continued by President Nicolás Maduro Moros .

Venezuela announces elections for National Constituent Assembly "We will work on a schedule proposal culminating in an election for the National Constituent Assembly at the end of July," Lucena told reporters.

Likewise, the President of the Electoral Power announced that "we have decided to convene the regional elections for governors and the Regional Legislative Councils by December 10, 2017, for that purpose I have convened a session for Thursday to approve both schedules."

On the 23rd May, 2017, the president of the National Electoral Council (NCE), Tibisay Lucena, reported that the commission has decided to instruct the National Electoral Board to propose the timetable for the election of the National Constituent Assembly.

Lucena added that the constituent alternative arises from a political reality "that urgently requires building peace and closing the way to violence, hence we will proceed with special care to guarantee citizens' rights in a crucial moment of the country."

Venezuela denounces right-wing attacks on health structure before the NAM

Kenya's Major Sectors Stand to Benefit after G7 Talks

President Uhuru Kenyatta held talks with four of the six leaders from the Group of Industrialised Countries who attended the G7 meeting in Italy over the weekend, State House reported today.

State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu described the President's address to the leaders as representative of Kenya's ascent in global relevance.

"As a democracy with a growing and mixed economy, that is facing global terrorism, Kenya's success is key to the G7's democratic countries whose priorities are protecting global security, protecting democracy and expanding opportunities for their private sector," Mr Esipisu said.

INNOVATION In his talks with Mr Macron, President Kenyatta was reported to have agreed to increase cooperation on security and industrialisation.

Ms Merkel invited Mr Kenyatta to the G20 meeting in Hamburg in July while they discussed cooperation on health and security with Mr Trudeau.

INFRASTRUCTURE The President met Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, French president Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Other heads of state who attended the meeting were US President Donald Trump and Paolo Gentiloni, the Prime Minister of Italy. With Mr Abe, the conversation was around cooperation on investing in infrastructure and progress in the implementation of matters agreed on during the Tokyo International Conference for African Development (TICAD) last year.
