KTF PRODUCTION S

Katie Reeves Image from episode 375, “The Walk”

CMV Welcomes New VJ KTF Productions is proud to introduce, Katie, our newest “Christian Music Videos” Video Jockey! Katie is heavily involved in Christian ministry on the campus of Western Michigan University and a huge fan of Christian music. She has graciously volunteered to become one of our VJs for CMV, and I think she makes a great addition. Several weeks ago I, Surgeon, met with campus ministry leader, Scott Shank, to talk about future ministry work on Campus. I shared the ministry and vision of CMV, and mentioned that I was beginning to look for a few new people to help VJ the show. He immediately thought of Katie. After meeting with her, I knew that God had preordained this partnership. I could tell that her

heart was in the right place and we connected on the mission to reach others with the love of Christ through this show. As it turns out, it wasn’t just me looking for her, but she told me that only a week before, she prayed that God would open the door for her to DJ on the campus radio station to reach out to students. When she heard the voice mail from Scott about being a video jockey for CMV, she jumped up and down in the parking lot at the opportunity. And so the journey begins… On Tuesday, August 2nd, Katie recorded her first episode for “Christian Music Videos” and did a wonderful job. The first episode is often the hardest, but she did way better than I

did on my first episode. Katie has great presence, is well versed in the scripture and most importantly is crazy for Jesus! Be sure to catch her first episode airing later this month during the week of September 20th. Katie is also a “Facebook fan” of CMV. If you are too, be sure to welcome her to the show if you feel so inclined. It is my hope to have Katie spin Christian hits for several shows to come. It is quite possible that you’ll be able to see her at work doing campus ministry, sharing the love of Christ while spinning some of your favorite Christian hits!

In week three, the week of September 20th, Katie takes the helm in her first ever CMV episode. She takes us back to Genesis to explain a very important truth about how we should live our daily lives. Rounding out the month, the week of September 27th, Surgeon takes a break from running his Saturday errands to emphasize the importance of baptism. Watch this episode which includes a new episode of “The Wartleys”! So don’t forget to join Surgeon and Katie this month as they spin Christian

Fall semester in schools and college campuses around the country is upon us. What does this mean for KTF Productions? It signals the posting of a new “Christian Music Videos” fliers on the campus of Western Michigan University. Every year, KTF tries to keep a constant supply of fliers hanging on campus. Last year we weren’t very successful, but this year, with the help of Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship, I believe that we will be. Each flier on campus requires organization sponsorship for posting. Chi Alpha is our sponsor. We’ve already partnered with Chi Alpha in several ministry projects and plan to do so again this semester. So far, Chi Alpha is responsible for our newest VJ, Katie, and allowing us the opportunity to hang fliers on campus. It seems like a match made in heaven. Hopefully, these fliers will bring college students in front of the TV set to “hear the call to Christ”. 3

Christian Music Videos will hear the heart of lead singer, Dawn Michele, as she shares a bit from the Word of God. You’ll also hear a bit of her jamming out! The last of the three episodes features footage from Kutless. They performed music from their worship album along with my favorite song of theirs "Strong Tower". In each of these episodes, you’ll see music videos from these artists and in most cases hear some of their live performance.

CMV VJs Surgeon and Katie at the World Pulse Fest in South Bend

CMV at the World Pulse Festival August 14th, “Christian Music Videos” went on a road trip to South Bend, Indiana to watch live performances from Fireflight, Kutless and Toby Mac as they sang for the glory of Christ to a packed audience. While there, CMV VJs Surgeon and Katie, shot 3 episodes highlighting each of these performances. Initially it was our hope to score interviews with the artists, but when that fell through, we were forced to settle for only footage of the event. The weather was perfect, and the music even better. Each of the bands spent time glorifying Christ through their music and there were instances where they would pause with a word to the audience. You can catch some of what they said in these upcoming episodes of CMV

Watch these three episodes beginning the second week of October. I know you probably weren't there, but this is the next best thing!

along with some clips of their performances. Katie carried much of the load VJ-ing 2 full episodes and sharing the third with Surgeon. The first episode focuses on Toby Mac. Though he was the last to perform, this episode will be the first of the three to air. Unfortunately, Surgeon and camera operator, Jeannene Evans, couldn't stay for the entire concert, but Katie did. She snapped a few photos for the newsletter, but you won't see any footage of his performance in the episode. The second episode features footage from Fireflight. They put on a high powered performance singing about a half dozen songs. They are one of Katie's favorite Christian bands, and in this episode you

Christian Music Videos

New York City, Times Square area

CMV On Location in the Big Apple Last month “Christian Music Videos” visited New York City with a goal to shoot 5 episodes of the series in the "Big Apple". Mission accomplished. Along the way we had a lot of fun, and even met a few famous people. The first episode takes place right next to Times Square. Next, we walked down to Battery Park, close to the statue of Liberty and ground zero to record an episode. For the third episode, we went for a row boat ride where I rowed us out on a lake in Central Park.

Then we returned to the heart of Times Square to shoot a

show among the masses. The final episode of the trip takes place outside of CBS studios where the CBS Early Show is broadcast. Be sure to tune into CMV for the entire month of November and join us on our trip to New York City!

The purpose for the trip wasn't primarily to record CMV. When we take these excursions the show is usually just an added benefit. We specifically went to catch 4 broadway shows, watching a new show every night. We started with "Rock of Ages" the first night. To me, this sounds like it could be a Christian play because there is a church praise song of the same name, but nope. It is a rock musical based off of music from the 80's. It was very good, partially because most of the music I listen to is from the

80's... Yes still. I haven't bought a new album in about a decade. The second play was "Wicked", which turned out to be the best play I've ever seen... No kidding. The writing is amazing. I was quite impressed. I grew up watching "The Wizard of OZ" and this offers an interesting twist to a movie that many of us love. The third play was "The Addam's Family". It was cute, featuring a couple of TV stars, including “Cheers” Bebe Neuwirth. It was certainly fun to watch. The last play was "Come Fly Away" based off of the music from Frank Sinatra. It was high class dancing set to his music. I found it surprisingly good even though I don't really go for that kind of music (but don't tell my wife, she owes me like 5 horror movies for going to that with her).

We saw other stars as well. We saw Tracy Morgan who plays the character Tracy Jordan from "30 Rock" just walking along the streets of Broadway. We were in the studio audience of "Regis & Kelly", front row. My wife got took great photos, so much so that Regis "called her out" asking if she was with the paparazzi. She also got a lot of air time. 5

Host Regis Feldman questioning actress, Maggie Gyllenhaal

The camera guy must have loved her, because you could see her in most of the second half of the show. The guest for the day was Maggie Gyllenhaal, who stars in the newly released "Nanny McPhee Returns" - but I like her best as the love interest in the Batman movie, "The Dark Knight". We were also on the "CBS Early Show". If you’re a fan of CBS news, you may have seen me out on the plaza cheering with everyone else. We were able to meet the morning anchors. Harry Smith and Lonnie Quinn really chatted it up with my wife because she works for a CBS affiliate in Kalamazoo. Yes I was a little jealous - they seemed to pretty much ignore me, but I got lots of video of it. After the early show wrapped, we were taken on a tour of the morning show set. It was cool to see where sets were positioned and how different it looks in person as opposed to on television. I watch the early

show every morning so it was quite exciting to meet the anchors. During the four day trip we also took a bus tour, visited a lot of great restaurants, went on a row boat (where I rowed), and saw lots of sites. You can catch some of what we experienced

in the November episodes of CMV. If you haven’t been to New York City, I highly recommend it. There’s a lot to do any time of the day or night. I just wish we could’ve taken in a couple of comedy shows or music concerts. But we did get to visit the Apple store!

The Wartleys

New Wartleys Episode This Month

Image from “Misguided” We’ve been quite busy here at KTF Productions, working on several cartoon episodes and online comic strips of “The Wartleys”. So far, season two of the cartoon series has been stifled by a limited amount of time to work on the series, and the challenges of coordinating different efforts for obtaining cartoon elements for animation. Last month, there was a brief, but productive time window to work on the series unabated. And in that window KTF made every effort to make the most of the opportunity.

This month, watch a brand new episode of “The Wartleys” called, “Misguided”. This episode introduces 3 new characters to the series. Written by David Evans, this episode features Carla (Sherri Evans), Sherri (Kelly McMeekan) and Milton (Sid Ellis). Each of these voice actors have appeared in other productions from KTF including the Christian science fiction series, “Chronicles” and the animation/dramatic audio series, “Rezin”. “Misguided” is the first in a three part arc that

takes place in Judy’s office building. Be sure to watch it Thursday, September 16th. If you forget, and are a fan of “Christian Music Videos”, don’t worry, this episode will also appear on the music video series the week of September 27th. With the completion of “Misguided”, work is already underway for the next two episodes that round out this arc. Upcoming episodes “Flirting” written by Kev Hill and “Restraint” written by David Evans are in the audio editing and animation stages.

Wartleys”. Ivin also mentioned that I might be interviewed for the paper if everything works out. I will certainly keep you posted if this ever occurs.

Rezin Update

Ivin has written 5 episodes of “The Wartleys”, two of which are completed and can be found at ktfproductions.com. Check out his episodes, “Communion” and “Baptism”.

Also this month, be sure to read the third comic strips completing the 3 part series “Seeds of Revival”. Coincidentally, this series includes many of the same characters in the current cartoon animation arc. Be sure to read part 3 on Thursday September 9th.

Become a “fan” on Facebook

The best way to keep up-todate on the latest information on “The Wartleys” is to become a fan of the show on Facebook. By becoming a fan, you’ll be updated on the latest cartoon, comic and puzzle uploads as they happen. Also, cartoons and comic strips can be viewed and downloaded directly from Facebook. Progress Strips to Appear in information, photos and future “The Testimony” plans are also announced first on Facebook. So if you’re into Last month, Ivin Viljoen, writer Facebook and into “The for “The Wartleys” cartoon Wartleys”, consider becoming a series and Christian pastor from fan of the show! South Africa contacted me about including “The Wartleys” comic strips in a new Christian online newspaper called, “The Testimony”. Ivin now writes for the web publication. The vision for the online paper is to include print distribution of 250,000 copies in the nations administrative capital called Pretoria. The first issue of this newspaper will be released Monday, October 11th featuring a comic strip from “The

Last month, plans were underway for the next four episodes of “Rezin”. These episodes represent the beginning of episode 4, “Jean-Claude”. At present, the narration for each episode is recorded as well as the character dialogue. With so many other KTF projects underway last month, no episode was completed. However, episode 44 is being worked on and we hope that it will be completed for next month. This fall we hope to begin the planning for a brand new series for KTF, so it is my hope that between now and then, we create several new episodes of the “Rezin Dramatic Audio Series”.

KTF Drops Twitter

KTF Drops Twitter I’ve never fully understood the appeal of twitter. There are multitudes of ways to disseminate information to interested parties and it seems like new methods are cropping up all the time. Twitter is one application that took off so quickly, that I felt it necessary to include it in our organization as well. Even still, I never found the killer use for it. Originally, I wanted to use it as a ministry tool, much like many of the other web-based productions we create. But I couldn’t come up with a reasonable idea. Then, I decided to use it as a way to update those interested in KTF with the latest information on what’s happening. However, nothing really happens that quickly around here, and I found that I was posting updates only once or twice a

week. And that’s where I’ve been ever since. With the advent of Facebook Fan Pages, I found a better, more comprehensive way to communicate because it allows me to post links, embed video, pictures and audio files. Statistically, there seems to be more of an interest among viewers of KTF videos for Facebook updates than Twitter. I began finding myself reposting what I’ve posted on Facebook to Twitter. And given that we’ve never had many Twitter followers, I began to wonder if we should really keep tweeting. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure it is a powerful tool for some ministries, but it never seemed to take off with us. In an effort to scale back our internet footprint, and our internet responsibilities, I’ve decided that Twitter isn’t a good fit for KTF Productions. Over the past few months I’ve also dropped two Facebook fan pages as well, and added a more comprehensive PDF newsletter. Instead of saying the same thing in three different areas on the internet, I’m finding that it is best to simply maximize what is working well, and drop what isn’t. As a result, we’ll continue to communicate through the “Christian Music Videos Facebook Fan Page”, “The Wartleys Facebook Fan Page”, and the “KTF Monthly Newsletter”. For comprehensive information about all things

KTF, please continue to read the KTF Newsletter. For frequent updates, posts and information about “The Wartleys” and “Christian Music Videos” you can become a fan on Facebook as well as reading the Newsletter for a deeper look into what’s happening with those shows. As things change and technology advances there will almost certainly be more ways to communicate and share material. It has been our practice to try out technologies and if God doesn’t seem to be using it, to move on. We’d like to thank all of our Twitter followers for hanging in there with us and I encourage you to become a fan of CMV and “The Wartleys”, as well as subscribe to our KTF Monthly Newsletter. You can also email us at writecmv@hotmail.com with questions and comments.
