KTF PRODUCTIONS KTF Productions Update Two new short-term projects begin this month

David M. Evans Editing an episode of “Christian Music Videos” March is shaping up to be a very active month for KTF Productions. During the last few months I have kept my nose to the grindstone, working diligently on projects for KTF. One reason that I’ve been so busy is because it is my goal to stay ahead of schedule on all of our KTF projects. Why is that so important you might ask? Because I really want to keep a consistent release schedule for the 5 projects that I currently have in production. And I know no matter how much one plans - over time, there are commitments that arise, taking attention away from the ministry. Being that I only do this in my free time, life demands including work, teaching, vacation, other ministries and unforeseen circumstances sometimes throw a wrench in my schedule.

!

Therefore, working hard and trying to stay ahead of the game, helps when things come up. And this month, things are coming up.

Later this month, my wife and I will be going to Haiti for a week to do ministry, shoot episodes of “Christian Music Videos” and record footage documenting the event. I usually try to make it to Haiti once a year for these reasons and to visit with my sponsored child, Gaelle. This trip will be a little different. There is very little chance that I’ll be able to visit Gaelle this time because we will be in a different area of the country. However, every trip to Haiti we shoot 6-8 episodes of “Christian Music Videos”. I also always create a video documenting our trip to post on our website. The trip is coming up fast and I really need to begin preparing my heart for it. Please remember to pray for us throughout the month as we prepare, travel, minister and return to the US. I still have to brush up on my Haitian Creole!

KTF SIDE NOTES LITERARY COUNCIL PSA SERIES Also this month, we will be embarking on our first commissioned project of the year by creating 6 PSAs for the Kalamazoo Literary Council. These videos will bring awareness to a service that helps teach adults how to read so that they can get jobs, fill out medical forms, and perform many daily reading tasks that we take for granted. The public service announcements are planned to air locally and on the web when finished and all proceeds that KTF will receive from creating these spots will go back into the ministry of KTF.

“THE GRACE CARD” IN THEATRES You may remember that several months ago we traveled to Albany, Georgia to view the production of the upcoming Christian movie, “Courageous”. If you missed it, I wrote an article about it in the July 2010 KTF Newsletter. While there I met a Christian movie director that happened to have my name... but... it wasn’t me. David Evans is the director of The Grace Card, which only recently found its way to theatres. I highly encourage you to support this movie by seeing it in the theatre. It stars Louis Gosset Jr., which means it’s gotta be good!

Without efforts like the those from the Kalamazoo Literacy Council, some may not be able to read and understand the Bible.

Christian Music Videos Making this show is a blast!

EPISODES THIS MONTH

“Random Acts” Airs Week of March 7th

“Christian Music Videos” is my absolute favorite series to create. The first step is to choose what music videos will air in the episode. Think about it... out of hundreds of awesome videos to choose from, I get to pick which five or six will air in a given episode. I usually choose a couple of videos that I really like. Then I may choose one or two that haven’t been seen in a while. Then, if I’m lucky, I can include a brand new video as the CMV video debut for the week. After I choose the videos, I time the show out to make sure it comes in at exactly 28 minutes 30 seconds. Next, I choose a topic for the episode. I think about what God has revealed to me lately, or what has been on my heart. I admit, some times, I just search the bible for whatever topic God will point out to me, and do an episode around that. Every now and then, Katie will

!

develop an episode which is also cool because I get to learn what God is teaching her. Also, it is nice to see what is new in her life and socialize a little before we shoot the show. Recording an episode of CMV is amazingly easy. Katie does a wonderful job, and I’ve done it enough times that I feel comfortable enough to get it in one or two takes. It takes about 15 minutes to shoot an episode. The most difficult decision is where we will be recording the episode! Then the editing. I love editing. It takes me about an hour to edit an episode of CMV. Afterwards, I get to watch it back to make sure I didn’t make any mistakes as I dub copies for television stations. Sometimes I’m find myself singing with the videos or even dancing in my chair! Now can you see why this is my favorite show to make?

“Science in Creation” Airs Week of March 14th

“Team Effort” Airs Week of March 21st

“Your Choice” Airs Week of March 28th

Free Christian CD Giveaway Drawing four winners this month for B-SHOC CDs

We’ve given away free Christian CDs since we began the ministry of “Christian Music Videos” back in 1997. It was always a “no brainer”. We show Christian music videos, why not continue to glorify God by giving away free music CDs to our viewers? Why not indeed. I’ve always looked at CMV as a partnering ministry where we all have our roles to perform because the show couldn’t happen if everyone didn’t do their part. The Christian artist glorify God with their music, we package a show in a way for the message to be sent out, the TV stations do the distributing, and viewers celebrate and glorify God when watching the show alone and with friends. I’d say it is a win, win, win, win situation! By giving away free CDs, God provides us with another win, win, win situation. Artist get publicity for their work, I have the joy of giving away Christian

material for free to those who want to hear. And winners get free Christian music! We’ve given away CDs from national artists as well as independent artists. We usually only give away 3 free CDs, but this month, we’re giving away 4! That’s right, you can be one of 4 people to win a free CD from independent Christian artist, BSHOC. either “Against The Flow” or “High Voltage”. For a chance to win the CD, all you need to do is enter, and its totally free. And when I say free, I mean FREE! Just visit ktfproductions.com to find out how to enter. And remember... If you've entered before and haven't won, enter again. Even if you have won, you can enter too. There is no limit as to how many times you can win. But you can't win if you don't enter! (Please note: All entries must be from within the United States.)

Prayer Requests? If you have a prayer request and would like Surgeon to pray for you, just email writecmv@hotmail.com and he will be happy to pray for you. No request is too big or too small. If it is important to you, then it is important to God. Be sure to put “Prayer Request” in the subject line so that we don’t miss it. I know that we try to put the call out to you in every episode of CMV, but I want you to know that we’re always willing to pray for you - any time. It never hurts to have another person agreeing with you in prayer.

Facebook Become a fan of the series on Facebook (also known as “liking” the series). By becoming a fan of “Christian Music Videos”, you’ll get frequent updates on what’s new with the series. You can also send messages to Surgeon and Katie if you wish. And now you can watch exclusive video clips from episodes of CMV only revealed to Facebook fans. Not into Facebook? The Wartleys A Dream Come True

Have you ever seen the cartoon series, “Teen Titans”? I think it is off the air now, but I own each of the five seasons (and the movie) on DVD and am watching them now again for the second time. I love that series. I know, I’m like almost 40-years-old and I still like to watch cartoons. But if you think that makes me seem a bit immature, why not just think of it as “research”. There’s so much to like about the Teen Titans series. I love the characters and how they interact with each other. I love the progressive story and how you learn more and more about the characters as the series advances. When watching, I almost feel like the characters are a close-knit family. Even though they battle the forces of evil, they still love each other and help one another. It feels deeper than a simple cartoon and I always walk away feeling as though I’ve gleamed something important about life. When we started KTF Productions, I never really

We first dabbled with cartoons when we made the 3D show “Rezin - The Beginning”. I’ve done some 3D work in the

Hardcore Christianity Never let up on living “hardcore” for Christ Remember to keep your walk

HARDCORE

Catch a new episode Wednesday, March 9th If you’ve been a fan of the audio podcast series, “Hardcore Christianity”, for a while you know that this it has been an on again - off again project for years. One reason why I can’t seem to put it down for good is because living hardcore for Christ is something that never gets old and never goes out of style, but it is something that we tend to forget as life... happens. One of the reasons we’ve brought it back is because I really believe in the series. I believe in what it stands for and I understand the need to think about how we live our lives on a daily basis and to occasionally pause and take a step back to evaluate our world and our walk. It isn’t as easy as it may seem, to come up with a new topic for each episode. But often enough, God opens my eyes to the state of things. This

month, I highlight a ministry that I’ve been interested in for a long time. The ministry is Voice of the Martyrs. I encourage you to google it before listening to the episode this month, which is titled, “True Persecution”. This episode strikes deep into the heart of what it means to be hardcore for Christ. I hope you join me for this episode which will be posted Wednesday, March 9th. I encourage you this week to evaluate your current walk with Christ. Where are you, and where do you want to be? Then consider how to get from A to B. With the help of the Holy Spirit, I believe that we can all be hardcore for Christ if that is what we truly desire. Feel free to check out this and every episode of Hardcore Christianity at our website or subscribe and download each episode through iTunes. I’d also

Search With Me

Together we can help each other learn more about our God

Episode 67 - “Why The Confusion?” Hosted by David Evans When we as people work together, we can accomplish almost anything. Even God recognized that at the tower of Babble - which is why we all speak different languages today. If this concept is true, I believe that by searching the scriptures and learning together, we can find better soil to grow in our knowledge of our Lord and his Word. This is why “Search With Me” was originally created. The goal is for us as believers to help each other in our spiritual journey. Just as iron sharpens iron, we can sharpen each other. Just like accountability partners help each other stay on track by helping each other with struggles and life challenges, we can help each other in spiritual growth. Over the past few years, viewers and listeners of Search With Me have volunteered their opinions and biblical knowledge

to meet that end. This month, I present another topic and I hope that you will become a viewer and a participant in helping others in their spiritual journey. Wednesday, March 16th, watch episode 67 of Search With Me, “Why The Confusion?” to understand my struggle about why God and Jesus made some biblical truths so cryptic. You may or may not have given it much thought, but I encourage you to watch the episode and chime in with your comments by emailing David your comments at writecmv@hotmail.com, or responding to the online thread wherever you watched the clip.

KTF Mail Bag (page 1 of 2) Love your show. I live in Dodge, NE and listen to church TV by day and “Christian Music Videos” by night. I’m a God fanatic. Keep up the good work. God bless. I pray for you all. -Joe Hey Joe, thanks for the positive comments and thanks for watching the show! Keep livin’ that hardcore Christian life! -Surgeon Hello, David. I stumbled across “The Wartleys” while doing a search on Vimeo. Great work! I do some animation using characters and backgrounds from Cartoon Solutions, too. But, I noticed something in your cartoons that I can't seem to accomplish in mine. I use Anime Studio Pro for my work, and the backgrounds I purchased from Cartoon Solutions only have one camera angle for ASP. You seem to have multiple angles with every background. Did you create those extra views yourself? Do you use Anime Studio Pro or are you using Flash? I'm hoping you can tell me how to get extra angles out of my backgrounds that I didn't even know existed. Thanks for any advice you can offer. -Ken Hi Ken, thanks for watching "The Wartleys"! I certainly understand what you're talking about with the limitations of Cartoon Solutions single angle

view. There are two things I did. 1) I recruited help from others who were more talented than myself in creating art and graphic backgrounds for me. So I gave them the original and asked if they could make alternate angles for me. 2) I did some modifications of my own on Cartoon Solution's backgrounds. In Photoshop, I was able to take elements from other backgrounds and mix them with the one's I needed. I modified props, backgrounds and even created a few original props of my own. I don't consider myself an artist, so the stuff I made is mostly modifications of what I purchased. Hope that helps. -David Hello my name is Jay. I happened across your channel on dish network, last week. First it's awesome to know there is a local Christian show geared toward a younger generation! I would be very interested to meet you and possibly work with you on future projects. I saw on your site, that there is a need for volunteers and I am open to that but I also want to inquire about the possibility of employment with your ministry. I am also open to something of a Internship if say room and board could be provided. -Jay

open for help if we are working on a project that could use assistance. However, there are no paid positions. Everyone works totally on a volunteer basis. There are typically two people (my wife and I) who work on KTF projects with any consistency. We look for volunteers when a project arises where we need help. Our next project where we'd be looking for assistance would be a documentary series that we are looking to produce. It is still in the early stages though, and I don't have specifics on when we'd actually start. If you're still interested in helping, I suggest that you check back every so often and look at our monthly newsletters. It is there where the most up-to-date information on the ministry could be found. -David I wanted to just tell you I am so glad your tv program is available to our youth and pray you keep on doing what you are doing. I noticed you had a lot of different genres available for the viewers to see, which is nice. I have a different sound to my message as well but we don't have any professional videos done yet. How does one get included or considered for your show? Any information on that would be helpful. God Bless, -Ka-Je

KTF Mail Bag (page 2 of 2) Thanks for watching the show Ka-Je, and thanks for the kind words! To be on the show, first I'd have to see the music video. Most people send me a link to their video somewhere online. Next, you'd have to send me a copy, or allow me to download a high quality copy from online somewhere. That's it. I know you mentioned that you don't have any professional videos done yet. But let me know when you think you're ready, we'd love to consider you for the show! As of late, I've gotten several requests from independent artist. I always love to see what others are doing! Thanks for contacting me and let me know if you have any further questions. -David (Surgeon) Hey my name is Robin. I listen to y’alls show a lot. The music is great! but do y’all ever play hillsong, casting crowns, rita springer etc? but keep playing the awesome music! -Lynda Hi Lynda. Unfortunately, we can only play what we are sent. And we haven’t received videos from these artists yet. But believe me, if/when we do, you’ll see them on “Christian Music Videos”! -Surgeon I just recently started watching your show and I love it! I hear music every night that I haven't before. I praise God for your tv show!

Awesome! Thanks for watching, and thanks for taking the time to send us an email of encouragement! -Surgeon Hi, I was wondering why have there been no broadcasting of your “Hardcore Christianity” podcast since August 2009? Are you Planning to return? God bless you guys for the work you have already put out there. Miss you -Carolina Thanks for the email. Actually we’ve just begun creating new episodes of “Hardcore Christianity” and hope to do at least one episode each month. Keep checking back, and thanks for the email! -Surgeon Hi David, I've been subscribing to your KTF newsletters for several years, ever since I discovered your website. Just wanted to let you know I appreciate your commitment to providing Christian media content. Like you, I'm also very media-oriented in my gifts, so I figured you might be interested in checking out the ongoing video podcast I've been working on; The Bible News Network (BNN). BNN is a comedy podcast that answers this question: What if there had been a TV news network at the beginning of time, reporting on the events of the Bible, as they occurred?

I'd love for you to check it out, give me any feedback you have, and maybe even swap promotional videos or something. God Bless, -Chris Very cool Chris, and what an interesting idea. I've always struggled with how to do Christian comedy, so I'm always amazed when there is someone who can. It kind of reminds me of the Onion News Network, only Christian. Great graphics and special effects. Keep up the good work. I certainly plan to watch more of your videos. I've bookmarked your page. Thanks for sharing. -David Feel free to email us about anything, we love to hear from those who are watching, listening and reading projects created by KTF Productions. I try to answer every email, and keep in mind, if it isn’t of a personal nature, I’d like to share it on the KTF Newsletter unless you tell me otherwise. All prayer request emails are completely confidential, and I will continue to pray for you until I hear back from you that God has resolved your request. Thank you all for your encouragement and prayer support. Since KTF is completely volunteer, your comments are the primary fuel that keeps us going. God bless! -David Evans President, KTF Productions
