“I will always be grateful for the support I have received from TU donors. I strive to use my academic/clinical training to ultimately give back to the Tulsa community as a mental health professional.”

At Kendall College, we embrace the ampersand to offer the best of both.

A historic small campus experience in a city with big opportunities. Creative discovery with faculty mentors who are global leaders in their fields. Worldclass museums, archives, and labs in our backyard. Our students and faculty collaborate on the big questions about truth, citizenship, and the pursuit of meaning as we cultivate original selfexpression in multiple forms.

For over 130 years, Kendall College has empowered students and faculty to change the world.

It sounds big, but it starts with small things: careful mentoring, personalized learning, and dedication to community. These values make Kendall College of Arts & Sciences the heart of a University of Tulsa education, and you’ll see them reflected in all the facts, figures, and achievements in this report.

We publish hundreds of books and articles on topics ranging from teaching to tequila; but what makes our research powerful is the connection to students and the classroom through programs like the Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge (TURC).

We offer innovative and rigorous classes; but what makes them transformative is their connection to the community, so we started a new Course Experience program to take students out of the classroom and into local aid organizations.

I could not be more proud of the college in my second year as dean: we’ve brought theater back to campus with two sold-out student productions, restarted an award-winning speech and debate program, doubled our external research funding, and achieved the best retention rates since UTulsa started keeping records. Many of these are new initiatives, but they would not be possible without faculty and staff who have poured their hearts into UTulsa and the college for many years. If you’re already a member of the community of supporters that makes it happen, I want to thank you. And if you’re not, I hope this snapshot of our college’s research, student opportunities, and impact will encourage you to join us.

Finally, we give students the tools to achieve their dreams, but we know the first step is meeting their needs. That’s why we founded a new Emergency Fund to help students get back to the books when their lives have been sidelined by unexpected expenses.

Our world-renowned researchers win major awards like the Guggenheim Fellowship and National Science Foundation grants while working closely with students in our classrooms, labs, and in the field.
