WHAT TO EXPECT
StartTU 2025 kicks off with Move-In Day, followed by a weekend packed with events to help you settle in and start building your campus crew. You’ll attend small-group sessions with your peer mentors, meet faculty and staff, and get answers to all your burning questions — academic, social, and everything in between.
From community-building activities to late-night events, orientation is designed to help you feel at home and confident about your first year at UTulsa.
MOVE-IN DAY
Welcome to campus. We’re so glad you’re here! First stop: Pick up your student ID and residence keys, and then head to your hall or apartment, where volunteers will be ready to help
you get settled into your new home away from home.
Pro tip: Submit your ID form and photo before arrival. You’ll need your ID for meals, events, and activities all week long.
MATRICULATION
Matriculation marks your official entry into The University of Tulsa’s academic community, a meaningful bookend to your future Commencement celebration. Held in the Reynolds Center, this event welcomes students and families alike. You will hear from students leaders and campus professionals, and learn the Alma Mater.
Come as you are. On-campus residents just moved in and commuter students are coming from all around town; this is a moment to pause and take it all in. Reign ’Cane!
GET READY FOR ORIENTATION
StartTU 2025 is your official welcome to life at The University of Tulsa — and your chance to get connected before classes even start. You’ll meet fellow students, learn your way around campus, and dive into everything from academic resources to student life.
Before you arrive, take a few easy steps to prepare:
• Check your UTulsa email regularly for updates and details
• Submit your student ID photo and required forms
• Bring a reusable water bottle, comfortable shoes, and an open mind — it’s going to be a big week!

Starting college is a big step, and orientation is your launchpad. We’ll walk with you as you meet new friends, learn the ropes, and begin your UTulsa journey.

WHAT TO BRING
Settling into your new space is part of the fun of move-in day. To make your residence hall feel like home, here are some essentials to pack:

Shower gear – A shower caddy, towels, robe, and sandals
Laundry supplies – Bag or basket, detergent, and stain remover
Tech and study tools – Laptop, phone charger, headphones, and school supplies
Personal touches – Photos, posters (use 3M Command strips!), and maybe a small plant
Practical extras – A fan, flashlight, hangers, reusable water bottle, and a surge-protected power strip
Appliances – Microwave up to 750 watts, and you’re welcome to bring a mini-fridge (up to 6 cu. ft.) or rent a MicroFridge through UTulsa for added convenience. It will be delivered to your room before you arrive.

SAFE & SECURE

SAFETY, WEATHER, AND WAYFINDING
The Safe UTulsa app is your personal safety toolkit on campus — perfect for new students learning their way around. It connects you directly with campus security, offers real-time emergency alerts, and even includes features like Friend Walk and Virtual WalkHome so you never have to walk alone. Use it to report tips, access
mental health resources, and view emergency plans, even offline. The built-in campus map helps you find buildings, storm shelters, and more, making it easier (and safer) to navigate college life. Download it for free on the App Store or Google Play and log in with your UTulsa credentials.

HONOR, INTEGRITY, SERVICE
UTulsa Security works around the clock to protect the well-being and safety of students, faculty, staff, and guests. From proactive campus patrols to crime prevention programs, your safety is our top concern. UTulsa Security consists of the Campus and Gilcrease Divisions. Officers also patrol other UTulsa sites,
including the Oxley Health Sciences Facility, 101 Archer, and FabLab.
If you see something on campus that seems out of place or unusual, contact UTulsa Security at 918-631-5555. Be prepared to describe specifically what you observed.
Understanding college costs and managing your student account can feel overwhelming, but you’re not alone. The Financial Aid and Bursar’s Offices are here to guide you through scholarships, billing, payment plans, and more.
When will my loan funds be disbursed to UTulsa?
Loan funds will be disbursed to UTulsa on the first or second day of class. This will only happen if you accepted your loans, complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN), completed the required entrance counseling, and are enrolled in the number of hours for which the aid was processed.
To whom should I send information on outside scholarship awards?
All outside scholarships, including tribal scholarships, must be reported to the Office of Student Financial Services.
When do I learn if I was awarded a scholarship?
If you are the recipient of a scholarship, you will receive notification of your award at the time you receive your admissions letter. All scholarships are automatically renewed with full time enrollment. (We can delete if you maintain good standing 2.0 grade point average.)
Does UTulsa participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program and Post 9/11 GI Bill?
Yes. Please contact the office of veteran services, utulsa.edu/veterans.
How does UTulsa’s free textbook program work?
UTulsa provides required textbooks at no cost to all undergraduate students. If your course materials aren’t available digitally, you’ll receive an email when they’re ready for pickup in the Chouteau Room on the second floor of the Student Union. Be sure to collect them before classes begin!
