A LEGENDARY RACE AT THE FOOT OF THE UNPREDICTABLE MONT VENTOUX!
This legendary race, established nearly 30 years ago and organised by Team Sports 84 for the past decade, joins the UTMB World Series in 2025 as the sixth French event on the international calendar.
Since its inception, the Grand Raid Ventoux has given participants the chance to discover what makes this region truly exceptional: its iconic peaks, sweeping vistas, renowned vineyards, and the rich biodiversity of its regional natural park — not to mention the legendary and unpredictable Mont Ventoux. All this while traversing 16 characterful communes along the race routes.

An extraordinary adventure that will test your limits!
YOUR EXTRAORDINARY!

“Following the success of the launch last September, which drew nearly 4,000 registrations, we are thrilled to welcome you to the Vaucluse for the inaugural edition of the Grand Raid Ventoux by UTMB ® !
The enthusiasm has exceeded all expectations from day one, and we are immensely proud of our collaboration with Team Sports 84, who have been organising this event for over 10 years in support of the Pupilles des Pompiers du Vaucluse.
“The final weekend of April is already shaping up to be extraordinary, and we look forward to sharing it with you — a blend of sport, solidarity and celebration, set against the breathtaking natural backdrop of Mont Ventoux.“
ISABELLE VISEUX-POLETTI
RACE DIRECTOR – FRANCE
UTMB® GROUP

“It is with immense pride and shared enthusiasm from the entire municipal team that I welcome you to our beautiful commune of Malaucène for the Grand Raid Ventoux by UTMB ® .
This event is a true source of pride for our community, uniting a passion for sport with the breathtaking beauty of our region. The legendary ascent of Mont Ventoux will, I am certain, challenge both the endurance and spirit of every participant.
My heartfelt thanks go to the volunteers whose dedication ensures this race is an unforgettable experience.
To all of you, I wish a Grand Raid Ventoux by UTMB ® that is memorable, marked by camaraderie, sporting spirit, and deep respect for our natural heritage.”
JÉRÉMIE JEAN
COUNCILLOR FOR YOUTH AND SPORT
MAIRIE DE MALAUCÈNE

“Welcome to the Vaucluse, at the foot of the majestic and unpredictable Mont Ventoux! Beyond the physical challenge, a rich experience awaits you: a warm, welcoming atmosphere, meaningful connections between runners, supporters and volunteers, and a celebration of trail running in an exceptional natural setting.
Malaucène will be the beating heart of this sporting celebration, with a vibrant event village, opportunities to meet and connect, and the collective energy that gives the Grand Raid Ventoux by UTMB ® its unmistakable spirit.
Each course has been carefully designed to offer a truly distinctive race experience — blending technical challenges, intensity, and the opportunity to test your limits. But above all, this is a race built on solidarity. By taking part, you’re supporting an essential cause: the orphaned children of the Vaucluse firefighters.
This commitment goes far beyond the competition. It brings us together — runners, organisers and volunteers — in a powerful spirit of generosity and purpose. Every kilometre covered becomes a step towards a better world, where individual effort becomes collective support for those who need it most.
We look forward to welcoming you for a weekend of sport, connection and unforgettable emotion!”

CHARITY BIBS
Since 2016, the Grand Raid Ventoux by UTMB has been more than just a test of endurance.
It’s a chance to make every step count for something greater. Every runner becomes a force for good, with €2 from each bib sale donated to the Œuvre des Pupilles Orphelins des SapeursPompiers (Orphans of Firefighters’ Fund), a cause close to our hearts.

Charity Bibs go one step further, offering runners the opportunity to make an additional donation. Each kilometre covered becomes an act of support — transforming individual effort into collective impact, and helping to build a better, more compassionate world for those in need.
More than material aid, it offers a steadfast community of solidarity. A reminder that firefighter families are never alone, and that their sacrifice is honoured with humanity, respect, and enduring care.

The Œuvre des Pupilles Orphelins is much more than an association. Founded on 27 March 1926 by Commandant Guesnet, it was recognised as a public benefit organisation in 1928 and operates under the high patronage of the President of the French Republic.
For nearly a century it has supported the children of firefighters — professional, volunteer, or military — offering essential moral and financial aid when they lose a parent — whether in the line of duty or outside active service.

But its mission extends well beyond practical assistance. The Œuvre des Pupilles Orphelins embodies a deeply rooted spirit of solidarity — a compassionate and enduring community offering meaningful support to firefighter families in times of hardship. All firefighters — and their loved ones — can count on this unwavering presence, a reminder that they are never alone, and that their dedication is always honoured with compassion and humanity.

ENVIRONMENT
REGIONAL NATURAL PARK OF MONT VENTOUX
Mont Ventoux is a fragile natural environment. To protect it, explore its rich biodiversity, meet the people who live there, and learn how to act responsibly, visit the Parc Naturel Régional du Mont Ventoux website: https://www.parcduventoux.fr/a-voir-a-faire/ adopter-les-bons-gestes
SIGNAGE
To help you understand and respect the environment you’ll be running through, specific signage has been created.
SENSITIVE AREAS
Guidelines:
Please stay on the main trail to help protect the natural environment, minimise erosion, and avoid disturbing the region’s protected wildlife and vegetation.

RESPONSIBLE SOURCING
We prioritise local products to reduce transport and support regional producers. Aid stations are stocked with local produce, and we prioritise organic options.
PERSONAL CUPS & UTENSILS REQUIRED
Since 2006, the UTMB Group has operated under the ‘Bring Your Own Utensils’ (BYOU) principle, making a reusable cup part of the mandatory kit. Since 2018, runners must also bring their own cutlery and bowl for hot meals. These rules apply at the Grand Raid Ventoux by UTMB. No tableware (disposable or otherwise) will be provided.

CARRYING YOUR WASTE
Small rubbish bags will be provided when you collect your race bibs to carry your waste between aid stations — leave no trace, collect and carry your used loo paper, fruit peels, opened gels, and cling film used for food.
Please prioritise using rechargeable batteries. If that’s not possible, do not discard used batteries — special containers will be available at aid stations.
You must leave no trace as you pass through these natural areas. Penalties will be applied in cases of environmental damage.

ENVIRONMENT & WEATHER
The Grand Raid Ventoux by UTMB® takes place in rugged, mountainous terrain, with remote sections far from roads and mobile network coverage.
Weather conditions can change rapidly — from snow, hail and fog to extreme heat (over 30°C) or intense cold (below -10°C), sometimes accompanied by strong winds.
On the course:
- Do not stop on ridgelines or high points.
- If you lose sight of the course markings, turn back until you find the last marker.
- Always stay on the marked paths.
EQUIPMENT
Be prepared for all conditions, here are a few sensible tips:
- Plan for both intense cold and extreme heat.
- Don’t wait until you’re shivering to layer up.
- Avoid changing clothes exposed to the wind — either prepare in advance or wait until sheltered.
- Use sun protection.
Poles: be careful using poles, especially during the early part of the race when runner density is high. Avoid using the wrist straps during descents — in the event of a fall, they may prevent you from bracing yourself properly, increasing the risk of shoulder, wrist, forearm or head injuries.

SAFETY
NUTRITION & HYDRATION
Hydration and nutrition should be adapted to the weather conditions and include added salt throughout the race. Be sure to balance complex carbs and simple sugars.
FATIGUE & ALERTNESS
There will be designated areas at aid stations to rest or sleep for a few moments.
Do not sleep alone in remote areas — it’s unsafe. Fatigue and loss of concentration can lead to accidents. Run within your limits, especially early on, to save energy for sudden challenges — like unexpected weather conditions.
MANDATORY INDIVIDUAL INSURANCE
To ensure peace of mind at the start of your race, please ensure you have personal accident insurance that covers any potential search and rescue costs in France. Every year, runners are caught out by not being adequately insured. This insurance can be purchased through a provider of your choice. Since 2022, UTMB® has also offered its own repatriation insurance, available here: https://utmb.assurinco.com
LIVETRAIL®
The LiveTrail ® app is an essential companion for your safety. It provides real-time race tracking and key updates for both runners and supporters. In the event of an emergency, you can use the app to send your GPS location via SMS directly to the race organisers — a critical feature that can save valuable time. Please note: this does not replace a phone call to Race HQ or the Emergency Services. Carrying a mobile phone during the race is mandatory, with international roaming enabled. The battery must be charged and in working order. Do not use flight mode — organisers must be able to contact you before, during and after the race.
Runners will require a smartphone to use LiveTrail ® — it’s essential for your safety. If you expect to be on the course for more than 15 hours, we recommend bringing a power bank.
Please ensure the emergency contact number you’ve provided belongs to someone who should be notified in the event of a problem.
Important: To assist with your safety and response coordination, make sure the phone number listed in your runner profile is the one you will carry during the race. You can update this information at any time before your race begins.

The bib serves as your pass for access to shuttle buses, aid stations, first aid tents, rest areas, bag drop and bag collection zones. Do not remove your bib. In the event of withdrawal from the race, a member of the organisation will deactivate your bib.

In line with the ‘Bring Your Own Utensils’ (BYOU) policy, the organisation no longer provides disposable tableware (cups, cutlery, bowls).

Help us protect the natural environment — do not drop rubbish on the course. We all share responsibility for keeping our playground clean.
Don’t forget to carry a small waste pouch to store your rubbish between aid stations equipped with bins.

RULES ENFORCEMENT & RACE MARSHALS
As every year, volunteers are here to support you — but also to ensure the rules are respected by all. Among them, Race Marshals are given specific instructions, particularly regarding the immediate application of time penalties in the event of a rules violation.
Time penalties may be enforced during the race. For runners in leading positions, this may result in a drop in the rankings; for others, it could prevent them from making the next cut-off.
Race Marshals are authorised to check your mandatory equipment at the start and at various points along the course. Missing a mandatory safety item (e.g. required water supply) may lead to immediate disqualification.
You can find the full list of penalties in the race rules at:
VENTOUX.UTMB.WORLD
For more serious cases, decisions will be made in consultation with race management.
AID STATIONS
Only runners wearing a visible race bib on the front of their body (chest or stomach), along with their wristband, and timing chip attached to their backpack, will be allowed access to aid stations.
The organisation will provide still and sparkling water, and energy drinks for refilling bottles and hydration bladders. All other drinks must be consumed on-site only.
THREE TYPES OF AID STATIONS ARE PROVIDED:
• Drink-only aid stations: still water, sparkling water, Näak Ultra Energy drink, cola, coffee, tea.
• Full aid stations: drinks (as listed above), Näak Ultra Energy bars and waffles, sweet cakes, chocolate, bananas, oranges, raisins, savoury biscuits, cheese, cured sausage, bread.
• Finish line aid station (Malaucène): more substantial food will be available to runners after crossing the finish.
CUT-OFF TIMES
Cut-off times are calculated to allow participants to reach the finish within the maximum time limit. They are published in the official race documentation. The stated cut-off time refers to the latest time by which runners must leave the checkpoint. For safety reasons, the organisation reserves the right to adjust cut-off times if necessary. Runners will be informed of any changes by SMS and/or email. No runner may continue past a checkpoint after the sweepers have departed.
COURSE MARKERS
For better visibility at night, course markers feature a yellow reflective section that catches the light from your headlamp.
IMPORTANT: If you can no longer see any markers, return to the last one you passed! Out of respect for the environment, no paint will be used on the trails.
WITHDRAWALS
Except in the case of injury, you must not abandon the race anywhere other than at a checkpoint. You must IMMEDIATELY inform the checkpoint manager, who will then deactivate your bib and collect your timing chip from your backpack. The runner must keep their bib, as it serves as a pass to shuttles, buses, meals, and comfort care zones.
Repatriation is decided by the checkpoint manager, based on the following parameters:
• Buses back to Malaucène will be available for runners who withdraw at certain aid stations, as indicated by a bus icon on the checkpoint timing chart.
• Runners who withdraw at a location other than a designated checkpoint, and are not in a condition requiring emergency evacuation, must make their own way to the nearest repatriation point.
• If you withdraw between two checkpoints, you must go back to the previous checkpoint and report your withdrawal there. If, while attempting to do so, you encounter the sweepers, they will invalidate your bib. From that point on, you are no longer under the supervision of the organisation.
New : For smoother information processing, you can also declare your withdrawal via the app.
Please note: the full withdrawal procedure described above still applies to runners using the app.
REPATRIATION
The organisation does not provide repatriation by car or 4x4, except in the case of medical necessity, and only on the decision of the medical team or checkpoint manager.
Runners who withdraw at a mountain checkpoint must make their own way as quickly as possible to the nearest repatriation point where official event buses are available.
SHOWERS
Hot showers are available at the finish line only.
