Presentation

The event

Trail Verbier St-Bernard was founded in 2008, the result of a friendly challenge between passionate trail runners who aimed to enhance the region's summer appeal. That bold bet paid off.

Year after year, the event has grown in popularity and, in 2022, it became part of the prestigious UTMB World Series.

4 emblematic races wind through the stunning alpine landscapes of Valais and highlight the authentic charm of the Entremont villages.

Nowadays Trail Verbier St-Bernard by UTMB is regularly ranked among the most beautiful trail races in the world, serving as a remarkable international ambassador for the Valais region.

For this purpose, the Trail Verbier Saint Bernard by UTMB organization is implementing the following during its event:

• Making menstrual products and personal hygiene items available at all aid stations for any athletes who may need them,

• Providing separate and suitable facilities, such as distinct restrooms and changing areas for men and women, to offer a respectful and comfortable experience.

In addition, UTMB Group has implemented a pregnancy policy at all UTMB World Series circuit events. This policy is designed to be flexible and accommodating, and applies to pregnant athletes, athletes whose partner is pregnant, as well as athletes undergoing adoption or surrogacy procedures.

Environnement

Environnement

•Nearly 55% of the food and 70% of the beverages served at the aid stations come from Switzerland

•39% of the food is organic.

•To reduce waste, we use reusable tableware, and each runner brings their own utensils for meals.

•A comprehensive waste sorting system is in place at the aid stations.

•A bus service is available for runners and their companions.

•Noise impact in the villages is limited by reducing the duration of musical entertainment.

• The event supports the reforestation of the Swiss stone pine (arole).

•The similarities between the characteristics of the Swiss stone pine and the trail runner particularly appealed to the organizing committee, which decided to commit to its revival in the region.

•Thus, the "Swiss Stone Pine Forest of the Trail Verbier StBernard by UTMB" was born in 2016, at the entrance to La Fouly.

•Each year, the organization and several volunteers gather for a planting day — to date, over 100 Swiss stone pines have been planted in the forest.
