Doctor of Medicine PROGRAM LAUNCH

2024-2025 Admissions Guide

addressing Nevada’s critical shortage of physicians with a medical school that will align students, educators, and the community in delivering an inclusive and collaborative environment for innovative learning, healthcare, and research.

• Our MD program offers an unparalleled learning environment, facilitating active learning, increasing collaboration and teamwork, and exposing students to primary care patient experiences immediately, creating a solid foundation of learning early on, enabling greater competency, mastery, confidence, and empathy.

• Our pioneering approach – called household-centered care – gives medical students early clinical experiences in the most essential of all settings – the home. Students will learn alongside Roseman’s Nursing, Pharmacy, Dental and Graduate Studies students in urban and rural areas through the College of Medicine’s GENESIS program. GENESIS is an educational, research, community development and healthcare delivery system.

• Through GENESIS, students will learn that a patient’s overall health is driven mainly by social, economic, and environmental factors – and that 80-90% of disease outcomes are attributable to the Social Determinants of Health such as family, income, safe housing, food, and education. Our graduates will understand how the Social Determinants of Health impact individual and population health and how to address healthcare inequities in their own practice.

• Roseman is building on its healthcare mission to advance health education through its innovative educational model and to positively impact the health, education and wellness of the communities it serves through our MD program, located in one of America’s most diverse, dynamic, and naturally beautiful communities.

According to the AAMC, Holistic Review is a flexible, mission-driven approach to recruit and assess an individual’s competencies by considering their experiences, attributes, and academic metrics to select applicants who will best contribute to the program’s unique goals, learning environment, and the practice of medicine. In doing so, we have the ability to create a program that will coalesce the diverse experiences, skills, and talents of its students to create a class of dynamic learners who wish to improve the world through empathic care, service and advocacy.
