Somogyi Pál (1944) Somogyi Pál belsőépítész életművét a múltat és a jövőt összekapcsoló folyamat felől nézve lehet igazán megérteni. A családi tradíció, a bútorgyárban töltött gyermekkor kivételesen érzékeny befogadóvá tette a történeti stílusok iránt, a kidolgozott részletek, a természetes anyagok – elsősorban a bútorgyártásban leggyakrabban használt faanyag – értékei iránt. A funkcionális követelmények és a kortárs dizájn Somogyi munkáiban kezdetektől fogva együtt jártak az építészettörténeti utalásokkal. Kezdetben művelődési házak (Budapest: Almássy tér, Gödöllő), később szállodák, éttermek, követségi rezidenciák (Székesfehérvár: Magyar Királyi Szálló, Török Nagyköveti Rezidencia) belső tereit alkotta meg a rá jellemző igényességgel.
The oeuvre of interior designer Pál Somogyi can only really be understood by looking at it from the perspective of a process connecting the past and the future. The family tradition, the childhood spent at a furniture factory have made him especially sensitive to historical styles and the values of elaborate details and natural – above all the most frequently used wood in the furniture manufacturing– materials. The functional requirements and the contemporary design went together with references to architecture history in Somogyi’s work from the outset. In the beginning he created the interior of cultural houses (Budapest: Almássy square, Gödöllő), later of hotels, restaurants, embassy residences (Székesfehérvár: Hungarian Royal Hotel, residence of the Turkish Embassy) with the sophistication specific to him.
