PRESENTACIÓN | PRESENTATION

na memoria institucional puede convertirse en un material para pensar en qué somos y qué hacemos. Suele decirse, y es verdad, que nuestra Universidad tiene su mayor fortaleza en la calidad humana de quienes forman parte de su comunidad. Personas talentosas, dedicadas, abiertas a la curiosidad, la reflexión y el diálogo, pero también profundamente comprometidas y leales a la institución que les dio un espacio para su desarrollo personal y profesional. Somos, ante todo, una comunidad. Una comunidad que integra a decenas de generaciones de profesores y estudiantes; que armoniza el peso de la tradición con la expectativa por el porvenir; que ha alcanzado los cien años de existencia buscando bridar aportes significativos al desarrollo del país. La misión fundamental de nuestra Universidad no solo es formar profesionales competentes y eficaces. Queremos crear también agentes para el cambio, ciudadanos que se distingan por su integridad y amor auténtico por el país, el que se vive con entereza en la vida pública, en el actuar consciente de una profesión que es medio de vida y a la vez experiencia de compromiso con los peruanos. El padre Jorge Dintilhac, fundador de la PUCP, incidía en el esencial sentido humanista de nuestra institución. Y esto lo tenemos muy presente: que de poco sirve un saber si este finalmente no contribuye al pleno desarrollo del ser humano. Y que ese contenido humanista que moviliza día a día nuestra labor proviene del hecho mismo de ser universidad, pero, de modo señalado, de nuestra clara sensibilidad católica. El 2016, antesala de nuestro centenario, fue un año cargado de actividades. Este documento nos sirve para rememorar un periodo en el que las actividades estuvieron orientadas a reafirmar nuestros principios fundadores. Esta memoria nos recuerda qué nos hace auténticamente universitarios y qué debemos hacer en las tareas que vendrán.

n institutional memoir may serve as an impulse to think who we are and what we do. It is often said, and it is true, that our University’s greatest strength lies in the human quality of those who make up its community: talented, devoted people, open to curiosity, reflexion and dialogue, who are also deeply committed and loyal to the institution that has provided them with an environment for personal and professional growth. We are above all a community. A community that brings tenths of generations of teachers and students together; that harmonises the weight of tradition with the expectations for the future; that has reached its hundredth year of existence in search of significant contributions to the development of our country. Our University’s fundamental mission is not merely to prepare competent and efficient professionals. We also wish to create agents of change, citizens who distinguish themselves by their integrity and their sincere love of country, a love which is lived with fortitude in the public sphere, by carrying out a profession with awareness as a means of subsistence and at the same time as an experience of commitment to all Peruvians. Father Jorge Dintilhac, PUCP’s founder, stressed the essentially humanist nature of our institution. And we keep this very much in mind: knowledge is of little use if it does not contribute to the development of humanity. Furthermore, this humanist ideal, which moves our everyday work, comes from our being a university, but even more —as it has been pointed out— from our decided catholic inspiration. The year 2016, the threshold of our centenary, was filled with activities. This document allows us to look back on a period during which activities were focussed on reaffirming our founding principles. This memoir reminds us of what truly makes us a university and how we should take on forthcoming tasks.

uestra Universidad goza de un merecido prestigio nacional y regional, gracias a la calidad de sus docentes, los aportes de sus graduados y egresados, y el desarrollo de su modelo educativo, basado en una formación sólida e integral. Dentro de este marco, nuestra institución planifica y realiza cada año una serie de actividades que buscan elevar su calidad académica. Las siguientes son las más representativas de 2016.

ACREDITACIÓN Varias de nuestras carreras están acreditadas individualmente, mientras que las restantes se encuentran en proceso de hacerlo. Así, la carrera de Economía y las cinco que ofrece la Facultad de Arte y Diseño (Escultura, Pintura, Grabado, Diseño Gráfico y Diseño Industrial) realizaron la identificación y levantamiento de la información requerida para el proceso de autoevaluación. La carrera de Contabilidad ha seguido trabajando en desplegar acciones declaradas en su plan de mejora, como son la actualización curricular y la evaluación de algunas competencias de su perfil de egreso. La carrrera de Gestión y Alta Dirección inició el proceso de levantamiento de información para efectuar su informe de autoevaluación. Las carreras de Ingeniería que venían avanzando en sus procesos de autoevaluación (Ingeniería Civil, Ingeniería de las Telecomunicaciones, Ingeniería de Minas, Ingeniería Electrónica) recibieron un dictamen favorable de sus agencias acreditadoras, en tanto que la carrera de Sociología se dedicó a planificar su respectivo proceso. En el posgrado, Física y Química conformaron comités especiales a fin de gestionar un informe diagnóstico con miras a la acreditación. En cuanto a la reacreditación institucional, desde finales de 2015 se está trabajando en este proceso. En 2016 se elaboró un plan de sensibilización para ser aplicado en todas las áreas, así como una matriz preliminar de indicadores para la autoevaluación. También se recibió la visita preliminar de un representante del Instituto Internacional para el Aseguramiento de la Calidad (IAC-CINDA), quien sostuvo reuniones con representantes estudiantiles, directores de programas de posgrado, comisiones de evaluación por área, miembros del comité de acreditación institucional y, finalmente, con la comunidad universitaria en general.

NUEVOS PROGRAMAS La Comisión Académica revisó y dio opinión favorable a 80 propuestas de modificación de planes 28

de estudios, de las cuales 48 correspondieron a carreras de pregrado, 19 a programas de posgrado y 13 a diplomaturas. También revisó y dio opinión favorable a una propuesta de creación de una nueva especialidad de pregrado, 10 de programas de maestrías, 1 mención de un programa de maestría, 2 propuestas de creación de programas de segunda especialidad profesional y 50 propuestas de creación de diplomaturas (6 de especialización y 44 de estudios). Relaciones Internacionales, de la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales, es el nuevo programa que ofrece el pregrado. Los nuevos programas de posgrado son Arquitectura y Proyecto, Artes Escénicas, Gobierno y Políticas Públicas, Dirección de Cadenas de Aprovisionamiento, Gestión de Políticas y Programas para el Desarrollo Infantil Temprano, Gerencia de Tecnologías de Información, así como Ingeniería y Gestión de las Cadenas de Suministro, Gestión de la Ingeniería, Administración Estratégica de Negocios Jurídicos, Emprendimiento y Nuevos Negocios, y Pueblos Indígenas de la Maestría en Derechos Humanos

FORMACIÓN CONTINUA Las distintas unidades de la PUCP que desarrollan acciones de formación continua –facultades, centros, institutos y algunos departamentos– llevaron a cabo a lo largo del año un total de 1,921 de estas actividades.

SISTEMA DE BIBLIOTECAS Un aspecto central en este ámbito fue establecer líneas de gestión para todas nuestras bibliotecas gracias a la consultoría y capacitación ofrecidas, en el marco del convenio que tenemos con la Universidad de Almería, por la gestora de los Sistemas de Calidad EOQ -European Organization for Quality, Encarnación Fuentes Melero.

ur University enjoys well-deserved national and regional prestige thanks to the high quality of its teachers, the contributions of its alumni, and the development of its educational model, which is based on a solid and integral formation. Within this framework, each year our institution plans and carries out a series of activities aimed at improving its academic quality. The following are some of the most representative of 2016.

ACCREDITATION Several of our majors have already been individually accredited, while the remaining ones are in the process of being accredited. Thus, the Economics Major and the five majors offered by the School of Art and Design (Sculpture, Painting, Engraving, Graphic Design, and Industrial Design) have identified and collected the necessary information for the self-assessment process. The Accountancy Major has continued carrying out the tasks outlined in its improvement plan, e.g., curricular update and assessment of the skills of its student profile. The Management and High Direction Major started gathering information for its self-assessment report. The engineering majors (Civil Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Mining Engineering, Electronics Engineering), whose self-assessment processes were under way, received a positive ruling from their accreditation agencies. Meanwhile, the Sociology Major started planning its self-assessment process. The graduate programmes for Physics and Chemistry formed special committees in order to prepare a diagnostic report aimed at accreditation. In regard to institutional reaccreditation, we have been working on this process since the end of 2015. In 2016 an awareness plan to be applied to all units was designed, as well as a preliminary indicator matrix for self-assessment. We were also visited by a representative of the International Institute for Quality (IAC-CINDA), who met with students’ representatives, Directors of graduate programmes, assessment commissions, members of the institutional accreditation committee, and with our community in general.

NEW PROGRAMMES The Academic Commission reviewed and approved 80 proposals to modify study programmes, 48 of which belonged to undergraduate programmes, 19 to graduate programmes and 13 to diploma programmes. It also reviewed and approved proposals to create new programmes: 1 undergraduate ma-

jor, 10 master’s programmes, 1 concentration for a master’s programme, 2 second minors, and 50 diploma programmes (6 specialisation programmes and 44 study programmes). The new undergraduate programme is the International Relations Major of the School of Social Sciences. The new graduate programmes are master’s programmes in Architecture and Project, Scenic Arts, Government and Public Policy, Supply Chain Management, Management of Policies and Programmes concerning Early Childhood Development, Information Technology Management, Supply Chain Engineering and Management, Engineering Management, Strategic Management of Legal Business, Entrepreneurship and New Business, and the Concentration in Indigenous Peoples for the Human Rights Master’s Programme.

CONTINUING EDUCATION The different units of our University that undertake continuing education tasks —Schools, Centres, Institutes, and some Departments— carried out 1 921 activities throughout the year.

LIBRARY SYSTEM A central achievement in this area was the establishment of lines of management for all of our libraries. We were able to do this thanks to the consultancy and training offered by the EOQ (European Organization for Quality) Quality Systems Manager, Encarnación Fuentes Melero, within the framework of the agreement we have with the Almería University.

ACADEMIC INFORMATICS Amongst the multiple achievements in this area, the improvements to our institutional website ought to 29

DISTINCIONES

De los múltiples trabajos realizados, destacan las mejoras implementadas en nuestra web institucional, que ahora refleja mejor las actividades del Vicerrectorado. Asimismo, el boletín “Novedades académicas” cambió de formato y desarrolló un tratamiento más completo de sus notas, mientras que el Sistema de Seguimiento de Egresados comenzó a producir análisis en base a información multianual. En relación a este sistema, se creó una nueva herramienta que permite la implementación de un cuestionario a los egresados en el campus virtual, lo que implicará más seguridad en el manejo de la información y en los procesos.

Durante el período se concedieron dos profesorados honorarios: uno a Jean-François Cerisier, quien pasó a ser miembro honorífico del Departamento Académico de Educación, y el otro a Jean-François Mabardi, quien fue incorporado al Departamento Académico de Arquitectura. Por su parte, los docentes José Agustín de la Puente Candamo, del Departamento Académico de Humanidades, y Rogelio Sueiro Cabredo, del Departamento Académico de Arte y Diseño, fueron nombrados profesores eméritos. El doctor Sueiro Cabredo fue reconocido, además, con la Medalla de Honor R.P. Jorge Dintilhac, SS.CC. en mérito a su valiosa trayectoria profesional dentro de nuestra Universidad.

PARTICIPACIÓN ESTUDIANTIL Como en años anteriores, la Federación de Estudiantes, la representación estudiantil ante la Asamblea Universitaria, los centros federados, los centros de estudiantes y las asociaciones de alumnos, entre otras organizaciones, trabajaron de manera entusiasta y comprometida en la realización de numerosas actividades académicas, culturales, artísticas y deportivas, así como de fomento a la integración, la participación ciudadana y la responsabilidad social universitaria.

PROFESORES Se continuaron con los fondos concursables como impulsadores de la innovación docente, se seguió reforzando el rol del docente investigador y se perfeccionaron las actividades de planificación y evaluación docente, así como los soportes informáticos que respaldan los procesos vinculados a su labor. Con respecto a estos soportes, se puso en funcionamiento un nuevo portal del profesorado, el cual busca generar un espacio para mostrar información actualizada sobre los procesos de la carrera profesoral, los beneficios y servicios para los profesores, datos sobre convocatorias, el acceso a documentos y reglamentos institucionales, así como noticias de interés para el profesor.

be highlighted: the site offers now a better overview of the activities of the Academic Vice-Presidency. Also, the newsletter “Academic News” changed its format and developed a more thorough approach to its pieces. Meanwhile, the Alumni Tracking System started generating analyses based on multiannual information. Concerning this system, we created a new tool that allows the implementation of an alumni questionnaire within the virtual campus server. This will improve the security in handling and processing information.

STUDENT PARTICIPATION As in previous years, the Students’ Federation, the Student Representatives in the University Assembly, the Federated Centres, the Students’ Centres and the Students’ Associations, amongst other organisations, worked enthusiastically and committedly on the organisation of several academic, cultural, artistic, and sporting events, along with other activities encouraging integration, citizenship and university social responsibility.

DISTINCTIONS Throughout this period, our University awarded two Honorary Professor distinctions: one to JeanFrançois Cerisier, who is now an honorary member of the Academic Department of Education, and the other one to Jean-François Mabardi, who joined the Academic Department of Architecture. Furthermore, José Agustín de la Puente Candamo, teacher of the Academic Department of Humanities, and Rogelio Sueiro Cabredo, of the Academic Department of Art and Design, received the Professor Emeritus distinction. Additionally, professor Sueiro Cabredo was awarded the R.P. Jorge Dintilhac, SS.CC. Medal of Honour in recognition of his valuable career path in our University.

TEACHERS Contestable funds were further offered in order to foster teaching innovation. We continued promoting the position of research professor. The activities regarding teachers’ planning and assessment were improved, as well as the computer technology that teaching can profit from. Regarding the abovementioned technology, a new teachers’ website was launched, with the aim of generating a space where teachers may access up-to-date information concerning processes of the teacher career, teacher benefits and services, announcements, institutional documents and rule books, and news of interest.

esde hace un buen tiempo, la investigación se ha convertido en uno de los principales ejes de nuestra labor universitaria. De manera constante y sistemática buscamos crear conocimiento en el pregrado y en el posgrado, entre los alumnos y los profesores, y en cada uno de los diecisiete institutos y centros que integran nuestra Casa de Estudios. El resultado ha sido que los trabajos de investigación surgidos o apoyados por nuestra comunidad no solo han crecido en número y diversidad sino también en calidad, lo que nos pone en buen camino en nuestra meta de ser una universidad de investigación. A continuación, un listado de los principales logros en este ámbito.

FORTALECIMIENTO DE UN SISTEMA INTEGRADO DE GESTIÓN DE LA INVESTIGACIÓN

FORTALECIMIENTO A GESTORES DE INVESTIGACIÓN

Durante el período, se elaboró el diseño de un sistema de flujo de información, el cual constituye un primer insumo del conjunto de productos, informes y reportes que se producen en el proceso de la gestión de la investigación. Este documento ayudó a identificar qué insumos se requieren previamente a manera de “output” y, a partir de ello, se realizaron reuniones con proveedores para la adquisición de dicho sistema.

A través del Programa de Gestores de la Investigación, se pretende crear una estructura organizacional que sea el soporte adecuado para la gestión de la investigación en toda la Universidad. Una primera fase de este programa comprende el desarrollo de habilidades y conocimientos para la gestión de proyectos de investigación; una segunda, el monitoreo y el empoderamiento de los actores estratégicos.

FORTALECIMIENTO DE LA PRODUCCIÓN DE INVESTIGACIÓN Desde la creación del Vicerrectorado de Investigación, nuestra Universidad ha incrementado el financiamiento interno para la promoción de la investigación, lo que ha permitido mejorar los niveles de subvención de proyectos de este tipo. Así, contamos con fondos internos para docentes, como el Concurso Anual de Proyectos de Investigación y el Concurso de Proyectos Interdisciplinarios de Investigación, y fondos internos para estudiantes, como el Programa de Apoyo a la Iniciación en la Investigación, el Programa de Apoyo a la Investigación para Estudiantes de Posgrado, el Programa de Apoyo al Desarrollo de Tesis de Licenciatura y el Programa de Articulación de la Formación en Investigación a nivel pregrado y posgrado. Se ofrece igualmente apoyo y subvención a proyectos especiales, así como a aquellos proyectos que son presentados para financiamiento externo.

FORTALECIMIENTO A GRUPOS DE INVESTIGACIÓN Para el periodo se alcanzó el número de 136 grupos, que diseñaron o desarrollaron proyectos diversos. 34

FORTALECIMIENTO A LA CALIDAD DE LA INVESTIGACIÓN La Oficina de Evaluación de la Investigación continuó afianzando sus procedimientos de aseguramiento de calidad de la investigación, que involucran la evaluación de propuestas de investigación y de proyectos de investigación financiados por la Dirección General de Investigación, así como el reconocimiento a grupos de investigación. Durante el año se rediseñaron las estrategias y actividades de esta oficina.

CALIDAD Y VISIBILIDAD DE LA INVESTIGACIÓN Se publicó “Investigación en cifras”, dosier que da cuenta de la producción académica de nuestros investigadores en distintas áreas del conocimiento y que este año incluyó textos de análisis cualitativo. Del mismo modo se publicó de manera periódica la producción de los investigadores PUCP en reconocidas bases de datos de producción científica a fin de visibilizar la presencia de nuestra Universidad en dichos espacios.

esearch has been for a long time one of the central axes of our task as university. We constantly and systematically seek to create knowledge at undergraduate and graduate levels, amongst students and teachers, and within each one of the seventeen institutes and centres that are part of our institution. As a result, research stemming from our community or supported by it has increased in quantity, diversity and quality. This sets us on the path to reach our goal of becoming a research university. We offer next a summary of the main achievements in this area.

STRENGTHENING OF AN INTEGRATED RESEARCH MANAGEMENT SYSTEM During this period, an information flow system was designed. This design is the first element within a set of products, drafts and reports produced in the process of research management. This document had the output of helping identify which supplies are necessary. Accordingly, meetings with suppliers were arranged in order to purchase the system.

STRENGTHENING OF RESEARCH PRODUCTION Since the creation of the Research Vice-Presidency, our University has increased internal funding for research, improving the levels of research subsidy. Thus, we have internal funds for teachers, like the Annual Research Projects’ Contest and the Interdisciplinary Research Projects’ Contest; as well as internal funds for students, such as the Students’ Initiation in Research Support Programme, the Graduate Students’ Research Support Programme, the Major Thesis Support Programme, and the Research Articulation Programme for undergraduate and graduate students. We also offer support and funding for special projects, as well as for projects that request external funding.

STRENGTHENING OF RESEARCH QUALITY The Office for Research Assessment continued consolidating its research quality assurance procedures. These procedures include the assessment of research proposals and of ongoing research projects financed by the General Direction for Research, as well as the recognition of research groups. During this year, the strategies and activities of this office were redesigned.

RESEARCH QUALITY AND VISIBILITY We published a dossier, “Research in Numbers”, summarising the academic production of our researchers in diverse areas of knowledge. This year the dossier also included a qualitative analysis of the academic production. Additionally, we periodically registered the production of PUCP researchers in the most important international databases, in order to make our University’s academic production visible in such spaces.

FORTALECIMIENTO DE ACCIONES EN LA GESTIÓN DE LA COMUNICACIÓN PARA LA INVESTIGACIÓN En el Mes de la Investigación, se presentaron una serie de actividades para evidenciar la gestión y las herramientas de investigación con las que cuenta la PUCP, al tiempo que varios de sus investigadores participaron en “Perú con Ciencia”, la feria de investigación más grande a nivel nacional. Además de la publicación de guías, boletines y videos relativos a la investigación, se desarrolló una campaña para fomentar la filiación institucional entre docentes.

FORTALECIMIENTO DE CAPACIDADES PARA LA INVESTIGACIÓN Nuestra Universidad organizó el III Congreso Nacional de Gestión de la Investigación y el Seminario Internacional “El nuevo orden académico: debates contemporáneos sobre la calidad y el impacto social de la investigación”. Asimismo, realizó numerosos talleres de capacitación para los miembros de su comunidad, entre los cuales destacaron “¿Cómo publicar y difundir mi investigación?” y “Organiza tu bibliografía en un clic”.

FORTALECIMIENTO DE PROYECTOS DE INNOVACIÓN Durante el año, la Oficina de Innovación fue recorganizada con la finalidad de mejorar y potenciar sus áreas para promover eficientemente la vinculación universidad–empresa. Con este propósito, por medio del fondo Innóvate Perú, ganado en 2015, se diseñó e implementó un portal web para que los empresarios puedan visualizar los servicios que brinda la Universidad. Asimismo, en tanto se promulgó en 2016 la Ley 30309, que ofrece beneficios tributarios a las empresas que inviertan en proyectos de I+D+i, esta oficina pudo liderar la gestión de las postulaciones para que dichas empresas sean autorizadas como centro de investigación, desarrollo tecnológico e innovación tecnológica, dentro del marco de la ley.

FORTALECIMIENTO AL RECONOCIMIENTO DE LA INVESTIGACIÓN A lo largo del año se continuaron otorgando a docentes y estudiantes PUCP los periodos de investigación y los reconocimientos a la investigación.

FORTALECIMIENTO DE REDES PARA LA INVESTIGACIÓN Y VINCULACIÓN NACIONAL E INTERNACIONAL EN INVESTIGACIÓN, DESARROLLO TECNOLÓGICO E INNOVACIÓN Las actividades más importantes en este rubro fueron la celebración de la IV Conferencia Anual del Consorcio de Universidades, el otorgamiento del Premio a la Investigación Interuniversitaria y Multidisciplinaria, la implementación del portal web Soluciones Tecnológicas Integrales y la creación de la Red de Intercambio de Conocimientos en Gestión de Proyectos de Investigación.

LABOR DE LA OFICINA DE INTERNACIONALIZACIÓN DE LA INVESTIGACIÓN Constituida en 2015, esta oficina se encarga de vincular cooperativamente a los investigadores de la PUCP con sus pares de otros países a través de diversos mecanismos. Los más comunes son las visitas de los investigadores de la PUCP a sus pares de instituciones seleccionadas de otros países, con el respaldo institucional de la Universidad mediante un fondo al que puede postularse por concurso anual y que autoriza al investigador PUCP a visitar a sus pares extranjeros (con los que tiene acordado un proyecto de investigación que requiere de la reunión de los investigadores de ambas partes) hasta por un plazo de un mes. Asimismo, este fondo autoriza a invitar a nuestra Universidad (también hasta por un plazo de un mes) a investigadores de instituciones externas que tengan proyectos de investigación en marcha con sus pares de la PUCP y que requieran realizar esa visita para avanzar con sus investigaciones.

STRENGTHENING OF RESEARCH RECOGNITION During this year we continued to offer PUCP teachers and students research periods and research recognition prizes.

STRENGTHENING OF RESEARCH SKILLS Our University organised the III National Congress of Research Management and the International Seminar “The New Academic Order: Contemporary Debates on the Quality and the Social Impact of Research”. We also offered several training workshops for members of our community. Some of the most noteworthy were “How to Publish and Circulate my Research” and “Organise your Bibliography with a Single Click”.

STRENGTHENING OF INNOVATION PROJECTS During 2016, the Office for Innovation was reorganised in order to improve and strengthen its areas to efficiently promote the UniversityBusiness relationship. As part of this effort and thanks to the “Innóvate Perú” Fund, earned in 2015, a website was designed and launched so that businesspeople may get to know the services offered by our University. Furthermore, after the passing of bill 30309 in 2016, which offers tax exemptions to businesses that invest in R+D projects, the Office for Innovation guided the requests submitted by such businesses to be authorised under the law as research, technological development and technological innovation centres.

STRENGTHENING OF RESEARCH NETWORKS AND NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH, TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION NETWORKING The most important activities in this area were the IV Annual Conference of the Universities’ Consortium, the Award to Interuniversity and Multidisciplinary Research, the launch of the website “Comprehensive Technological Solutions”, and the creation of the Network for the Exchange of Knowledge concerning the Management of Research Projects.

ACTIVITIES OF THE OFFICE FOR RESEARCH INTERNATIONALISATION Created in 2015, this Office is in charge of establishing relationships of cooperation between PUCP researchers and their peers in other countries through different mechanisms. Different types of research visits are thus organised. Most frequently, PUCP researchers visit their peers from selected institutions in other countries. These visits are financed by our institution through a contestable fund, to which researchers can submit proposals annually and that enables them to visit their foreign peers (with whom they share a research project that requires both parties to meet) for a period of up to a month. This fund can also be used to invite foreign researchers to our University (also for a period of up to one month) who are carrying out projects with their PUCP peers and require such a visit in order to advance their investigation.

n nuestra Universidad deseamos ampliar el horizonte del conocimiento para contribuir al desarrollo de nuestra sociedad. Así, desde el trabajo en aula hasta la ejecución de diversos proyectos de campo con poblaciones afectadas o vulnerables, nuestro propósito central es convertir el saber en un medio efectivo para resolver problemas y para hacer más plenas las vidas de las personas. En 2016 se efectuaron distintas acciones en ese sentido, de las cuales consignamos en este apartado las más destacadas.

OTORGAMIENTO DE CRÉDITOS POR RSU Esta propuesta, luego de ser aprobada por el Consejo Universitario, fue implementada durante 2016. Su objetivo es lograr la incorporación de al menos un curso con enfoque RSU en las mallas curriculares de las 47 especialidades que ofrecemos.

CONCURSO DE INICIATIVAS DE RSU PARA ESTUDIANTES Durante el año se llevaron a cabo siete proyectos interdisciplinarios que congregan a 44 estudiantes de diversas especialidades. Se convocó además a la séptima versión de este concurso, de la cual resultaron ganadoras siete propuestas orientadas a temas de emprendimiento, interculturalidad, recuperación de tradiciones, reciclaje y educación, innovación, reinserción social, entre otros.

FONDO CONCURSABLE PARA DOCENTES A lo largo del año se realizaron diecinueve proyectos que accedieron a este fondo mediante el concurso desarrollado durante 2015. Entre las propuestas se encuentran cursos socialmente responsables y proyectos de corto y mediano plazo que estuvieron a cargo de docentes de doce departamentos académicos. Además, en este mismo año, se celebró la séptima convocatoria de este concurso, de la cual resultaron ganadoras doce iniciativas que serán ejecutadas en 2017. Los temas que abordan son espacios públicos, comunicación e identidad, medio ambiente, fortalecimiento del Estado, inclusión, educación y políticas públicas, entre otros.

RSU E INVESTIGACIÓN Se continuó apoyando y promoviendo investigaciones que respondan a las necesidades y demandas del país. Por ello, se otorgaron bonos a las investigaciones premiadas por la Dirección de Gestión de la Investigación que incluyeran un impacto social. Entre estos trabajos se encuentran los del Programa de Apoyo a la Iniciación en la Investigación, el Programa de Apoyo al Desarrollo de Tesis de Licenciatura, el Programa de Apoyo a la Investigación de Posgrado, y el Concurso Anual de Proyectos de Investigación. 40

VINCULACIÓN CON GREMIOS Y ORGANIZACIONES ESTUDIANTILES A través de diversas iniciativas, la Dirección Académica de Responsabilidad Social continúa promoviendo y colaborando con el trabajo de RSU de gremios, grupos organizados de estudiantes y la representación estudiantil ante la Asamblea Universitaria.

PROGRAMA DE VOLUNTARIADO Este año se puso en marcha el piloto del Programa Permanente de Voluntariado, el cual busca incorporar la RSU como un quehacer cotidiano. Se lograron resultados positivos, pues se reafirmó el voluntariado como experiencia formativa y de gran impacto entre los estudiantes.

PROYECTOS DE DESARROLLO SOCIAL Se continuó con el trabajo de apoyo académico y participativo en diversas zonas del país. Entre los proyectos más importantes están “Reconstruyéndonos: colaborando para nuevos futuros”, en el centro poblado La Garita y en El Carmen Cercado, con el objetivo de fortalecer la organización comunal, el autogobierno y la

From the work in classrooms to the execution of different field projects with vulnerable population, our main objective is to transform knowledge into an effective means of solving problems and making people’s lives better. The following were some of the most important actions carried out in 2016 concerning University Social Responsibility (USR).

USR CREDIT POINTS After being approved by the University Council, this proposal was implemented in 2016. Its aim is to introduce at least one subject with a focus on USR in the curricula of the 47 majors we offer.

throughout the year. Additionally, we organised the 7th USR Student Initiatives Contest and awarded funding to seven proposals regarding entrepreneurship, interculturality, recovery of traditions, recycling and education, innovation, and social rehabilitation, amongst others.

CONTESTABLE FUND FOR TEACHERS Throughout the year, nineteen projects were carried out thanks to the grants awarded to them out of this fund after the 2015 contest. Some of the proposals include socially responsible courses, as well as short and middle term projects under the guidance of teachers from twelve Academic Departments. Furthermore, the contest was carried out this year for the seventh time and twelve projects were chosen to be financed in 2017. These projects deal with themes such as public spaces, communication and identity, environment, strengthening of the State, inclusion, and education and public policies, amongst others.

USR AND RESEARCH We continued supporting and promoting research that responds to the needs and demands of our country. Thus, we awarded bonuses to those research projects chosen by the Direction for the Management of Research that have a social impact. The projects were chosen within the framework of the following programmes: Students’ Initiation in Research Support Programme, Major Thesis Support Programme, Graduate Students’ Research Support Programme, and Annual Research Projects’ Contest.

RELATIONS WITH UNIONS AND STUDENT ORGANISATIONS Through different initiatives, the Academic Direction for Social Responsibility continues promoting and collaborating with the USR work of unions, student groups, and the student representatives in the University Assembly.

VOLUNTEERS’ PROGRAMME This year we launched the pilot Permanent Volunteers’ Programme, which seeks to make USR part of daily activities. We had positive results that confirmed that volunteering is a formative experience with great impact amongst students.

SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS We continued offering academic participative support in different areas of the country. Some of the most important projects are “Rebuilding Ourselves: Contributing towards New Futures” in La Garita settlement and in El Carmen Cercado, whose aim is to strengthen the community organisation, selfgovernment and citizenship; and the “Sacsamarca” project (Huancasancos, Ayacucho). This project seeks to build a democratic citizenship that is diversity-aware. 41

CONVIVENCIA INCLUSIVA Y PROMOCIÓN DE LA CIUDADANÍA EN EL CAMPUS Nuestra Universidad fomenta la convivencia democrática e inclusiva dentro del campus universitario a través de la implementación de políticas existentes sobre RSU y el diseño de protocolos que sean utilizados de manera transversal. En esta línea se realizaron diversos talleres y actividades durante el año que tocaron temas sensibles a la comunidad y contaron con una significativa participación por parte de las comunidades PUCP y actores externos.

SENSIBILIZACIÓN AMBIENTAL Y FORMACIÓN AMBIENTAL PUCP Con la sensibilización ambiental se espera incentivar buenas prácticas ambientales en la comunidad universitaria. En el diseño y desarrollo de estas actividades –dentro de las cuales destacan la Semana Ambiental y la Semana de la Movilidad Sostenible-, participaron más de mil estudiantes acompañados por docentes. En relación a la formación ambiental, se prosiguió con los talleres del Proyecto Oficina Verde, destinados a hacer de los miembros de nuestro personal administrativo agentes de cambio comprometidos con el cuidado del medio ambiente y con el uso eficiente y sostenible de los recursos materiales y la energía.

TRABAJO CON LA RED PERUANA DE UNIVERSIDADES Y OTRAS UNIVERSIDADES NACIONALES Como en años anteriores, se realizaron varias actividades con esta red. Una de las más importantes fue la participación en el Foro Nacional de Voluntarios de la Red de Estudios Interculturales. De igual forma se organizó, junto con la Universidad Nacional de Piura, la Universidad Católica Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo y la Universidad Cayetano Heredia, el Segundo Foro Nacional de Responsabilidad Social Universitaria, al cual asistieron 52 universidades, así como ponentes nacionales y extranjeros.

INCLUSIVE COHABITATION AND CITIZENSHIP PROMOTION ON CAMPUS Our University fosters democratic and inclusive cohabitation inside our Campus through the implementation of existing USR policies, and through the design of protocols that ought to be used transversely. On this grounds, we organised several workshops and activities throughout the year to deal with difficult community issues. A large number of PUCP community members, as well as external agents, participated in these events.

PUCP ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS AND EDUCATION Environmental Awareness should encourage positive environmental practices within our community. More than one thousand students and teachers participated in the design and development of these activities —some of the highlights were the Environmental Week and the Sustainable Transportation Week—. With regard to Environmental Education, we continued organising the workshops of the Green Office Project. These workshops have the aim of making committed agents of change out of the members of our administrative staff. They should be committed to the protection of the environment, and to the efficient and sustainable use of material resources and energy.

WORKING WITH THE PERUVIAN NETWORK OF UNIVERSITIES AND OTHER NATIONAL UNIVERSITIES As in previous years, we organised several activities with the Peruvian Network of Universities. One of the most important events was the National Forum of Volunteers of the Network for Intercultural Studies. We also organised, together with the Piura National University, the Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo Catholic University, and the Cayetano Heredia University, the Second National Forum for University Social Responsibility. Delegations from 52 universities as well as national and foreign speakers participated in this event.

En este apartado, damos cuenta de las acciones concebidas y ejecutadas durante al año por la Dirección Académica de Relaciones Institucionales.

ASOCIACIONES INTERNACIONALES Nuestra Universidad se encuentra afiliada a más de treinta asociaciones interuniversitarias de cobertura latinoamericana, interamericana, iberoamericana y mundial. Estas son algunas de las más importantes: la Organización Universitaria Interamericana (OUI), de la cual nuestro rector Marcial Rubio Correa, en su calidad de ex-presidente, participó en la reunión de la junta directiva realizada en Guadalajara; la Unión de Universidades de América Latina y el Caribe (UDUAL), en cuyas reuniones de la junta directiva, celebradas en Bolivia y Argentina, también estuvo presente nuestro rector, como primer vicepresidente y vicepresidente de la región andina; el Grupo de Universidades Iberoamericanas La Rábida, que organizó una asamblea general en el Cusco, a la cual nuestra Universidad asistió como miembro; y el Programa de Cooperación Universitaria EuropaLatinoamérica Columbus, en cuya asamblea general, convocada en la ciudad de Lima, también nos hicimos presentes.

PROYECTOS DE COOPERACIÓN INTERNACIONAL Estos proyectos buscan, entre otros objetivos, la mejora de la imagen y gestión institucional, la ejecución de la movilidad estudiantil, docente y administrativa, y la consolidación de los lazos de cooperación en materia de formación e investigación. Durante 2016 nuestra Universidad participó activamente en los siguientes proyectos: Estrategias de Internacionalización (ESDI), PRECIOSA-Erasmus Mundus / Comisión Europea, Sustain-T Erasmus Mundus / Comisión Europea, ELARCH Erasmus Mundus / Comisión Europea, y Proyectos Erasmus Plus (E+) para la movilidad de individuos (Acción 1). 46

MOVILIDAD ESTUDIANTIL INTERNACIONAL A lo largo del año, 423 estudiantes extranjeros, de un total de 24 países, nos visitaron por algún programa de intercambio. También lo hicieron, bajo la modalidad de estancias de investigación, otros 60 estudiantes. Paralelamente, 300 estudiantes de la PUCP participaron en programas de intercambio, con un total de 30 universidades de destino. La movilidad de nuestros alumnos se realizó a través de dos modalidades: por intercambio compensado, en la cual los estudiantes quedan exonerados de los costos académicos en la universidad de destino y pagan en la nuestra los créditos por convalidar mediante el programa de intercambio según su escala local; y por intercambio regular, en la cual los alumnos se encuentran exonerados de los costos académicos tanto en la universidad de destino como en la PUCP.

INTERNACIONALIZACIÓN DOCENTE Decenas de profesores de nuestra Universidad viajaron al exterior para realizar estudios de especialización o temporadas de investigación, gracias a las becas otorgadas por el Programa de Cooperación Doctoral Franco-Peruano Paul Rivet-PUCP, el Convenio con la Fundación Carolina-España, el Convenio con la Katholischer Akademischer Ausländer-Dienst (KAAD) y el Programa Alianza del Pacífico. Asimismo, varios docentes de la PUCP se acogieron a nuestro programa de ayudas económicas para estancias posdoctorales en instituciones extranjeras, así como al de apoyo económico para la obtención del grado de doctor en una universidad extranjera. Por su parte, un nutrido grupo de profesores e investigadores extranjeros nos visitaron gracias a las becas ofrecidas por el Programa Senior Specialist de la Comisión Fulbright Perú-Estados Unidos, el Convenio con la Universidad de Bonn-Alemania, el

olidarity and complementarity are fundamental principles in this globalised world. Therefore, in PUCP we strive consistently not only to build relationships with our peers through collaborative work, but also to acquire, through such collaborative work, the experience and knowledge that enriches our mission. Next we present the activities planned and executed by the Academic Direction for Institutional Relations.

INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS Our University is a member of more than thirty interuniversity associations of Latin-American, InterAmerican, Ibero-American and world reach. Some of the most important ones are: the Inter-American Organization for Higher-Education (OUI) —our President, Marcial Rubio, participated in the meeting of its directive board in Guadalajara as former president of the organisation—; the Association of Universities of Latin-America and the Caribbean (UDUAL) —our President also attended the meetings of its directive board in Bolivia and Argentina as First Vice-President and Vice-President for the Andean Region—; the Group of Ibero-American Universities La Rábida —this group organised a general assembly in Cusco, our University attended as member—; and the Columbus Inter-University Euro-Latin American Programme for cooperation— our University participated in its general assembly, which took place in Lima—.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION PROJECTS These projects have the aim, amongst others, of improving institutional image and management; of fostering student, teacher and staff mobility; and of consolidating cooperation relationships concerning education and research. In 2016 our University was an active participant in the following projects: Internationalisation Strategies (ESDI), PRECIOSAErasmus Mundus/European Commission, Sustain-T Erasmus Mundus/European Commission, ELARCH Erasmus Mundus/European Commission, and Erasmus Plus Projects (E+) for the mobility of individuals (Action 1).

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT MOBILITY Throughout this year, 423 foreign students from a total of 24 countries visited us as part of an

exchange programme. Additionally, 60 students visited us as part of research stays. On the other hand, 300 PUCP students participated in exchange programmes. A total of 30 universities welcomed our students. The mobility of PUCP students was carried out in two different ways: through compensated exchange, where students are exonerated from the academic fees required by the destination university and pay the corresponding fees in our University; and through regular exchange, where students are exonerated from the academic fees of both universities.

TEACHER MOBILITY Tenths of PUCP teachers travelled abroad to carry out specialisation studies or research stays thanks to the scholarships granted by the Doctoral Franco-Peruvian Cooperation Programme Paul Rivet-PUCP, the Agreement with the Carolina Foundation-Spain, the KAAD (Katholischer Akademischer Ausländer-Dienst) Agreement and the Pacific Alliance Programme. In addition, several PUCP teachers applied to our economic support programme for postdoctoral stays in foreign institutions, as well as to the economic support to attain a doctoral degree in foreign universities. On the other hand, a considerable group of foreign teachers and researchers visited us thanks to the scholarships offered by the Senior Specialist Programme of the Peru-USA Fullbright Commission, by the Agreement with the University of Bonn (Germany), by the agreement with the Embassy of France, and by a PUCP fund to support research groups. 47

MOVILIDAD DE PERSONAL ADMINISTRATIVO En el marco del Programa STELLA, colaboradores de la Biblioteca Central y de la Oficina de Contabilidad de la PUCP viajaron a universidades españolas para realizar un intercambio administrativo, mientras que miembros de la Universidad de León y de la Universidad Adam Mickiewicz de Poznań visitaron nuestra institución para conocer sus procesos adminsitrativos y de gestión.

RED PERUANA DE UNIVERSIDADES Para 2016, el objetivo principal de esta red fue continuar desarrollando las líneas de trabajo ya instauradas como la movilidad estudiantil y la movilidad docente, así como el Fondo Concursable de Apoyo al Trabajo de Campo. En cuanto a la movilidad estudiantil, 194 estudiantes de la RPU realizaron el programa de intercambio en la PUCP, en tanto que en relación a la movilidad docente, 7 docentes de universidades RPU tuvieron la posibilidad de cursar estudios de maestría o de doctorado a través de las becas RPU. De igual forma se registraron 87 viajes de docentes de diferentes departamentos e institutos de nuestra casa de estudios a las universidades de la RPU para cumplir actividades académicas, mientras que 6 docentes miembros de la red hicieron pasantías y mentorías en la PUCP. En lo referido al Fondo Concursable de Apoyo al Trabajo de Campo RPU, los montos se asignaron a las categorías de profesor investigador con asistentes, alumno tesista y curso de pregrado. Hay que destacar asimismo que, como parte de las actividades institucionales, se celebraron la VII y VIII asambleas de rectores de la RPU. Las sedes elegidas fueron la Universidad Católica de Santa María, en Arequipa, y la Universidad Nacional de San Martín, en San Martín, respectivamente.

OBAMA EN LA PUCP Una gran jornada se vivió en nuestra Universidad el 19 de noviembre con la visita a nuestro claustro, en el marco de la APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation), del saliente presidente de los EE.UU. Barack Obama. La cita se realizó en el Coliseo Deportivo, donde se reunieron con el mandatario miles de jóvenes de América Latina y el Caribe, pertenecientes al Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative, un programa del gobierno estadounidense que busca crear una red de contactos entre los innovadores y emprendedores de todo el continente. Luego de casi hora y media de conversación, Obama se acercó al público para despedirse entre saludos entusiastas y diversas muestras de aprecio. La visita fue organizada por el Departamento de Estado de los EE.UU., la Embajada de los Estados Unidos en Lima y la Casa Blanca. La doctora Rocío Villanueva, directora académica de Relaciones Institucionales, fue quien realizó, por encargo del Rectorado, las coordinaciones para que nuestra Universidad sea la sede de esta importante reunión.

ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF MOBILITY

OBAMA IN PUCP

Within the framework of the STELLA programme, employees working in PUCP’s Central Library and Accounting Office travelled to Spanish universities for an administrative exchange. Meanwhile, members of the University of León and of the Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznań visited our institution in order to observe its administrative and management processes.

Our University experienced an important day on November 19th due to the visit, as part of the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation), of the outgoing US President Barack Obama.

PERUVIAN NETWORK OF UNIVERSITIES (RPU) The main goal for 2016 was to further develop the established working guidelines such as student mobility and teacher mobility, as well as the Contestable Fund to Support Fieldwork. With regard to student mobility, 194 RPU students participated in the exchange programme in PUCP, while 7 RPU teachers enrolled in graduate studies thanks to RPU scholarships. Also 87 teachers from different departments and institutes of our University visited other RPU universities to carry out academic activities, while 6 RPU teachers did internships and mentorships in PUCP. Regarding the Contestable Fund to Support Fieldwork, grants were awarded in the following categories: research professor with assistants, student working on a thesis, and undergraduate course. Finally, as part of the institutional activities, we celebrated the VII and VIII assemblies of RPU University Presidents in the following venues: the Santa María Catholic University in Arequipa and the San Martín National University in San Martín.

The event took place in the Sport Colosseum. There, the President met with thousands of young people from Latin America and the Caribbean, members of the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative. This US Government Programme seeks to create a network of contacts between innovators and entrepreneurs throughout the continent. After a conversation that lasted almost one hour and a half, President Obama approached the public to say goodbye surrounded by enthusiastic greetings and multiple signs of esteem. The visit was organised by the US State Department, the Embassy of the USA in Lima, and the White House. Professor Rocío Villanueva, Ph.D., Academic Director of Institutional Relations, coordinated the visit on behalf of PUCP’s Presidency, enabling our University to host this important meeting.

Este es un panorama de lo realizado en este ámbito durante 2016.

XIV FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE MÚSICA ANTIGUA

Surgido a fines de 2007, este programa busca estimular la lectura placentera a través de actividades distintas de las que usualmente se practican en el salón de clase universitario. Se propone motivar, además, un diálogo interdisciplinario, rico y libre, en el que los participantes compartan y debatan sobre sus percepciones acerca de los textos. Durante el año se eligieron “La distancia que nos separa” de Renato Cisneros y “Nuevos juguetes de la Guerra Fría” de Juan Manuel Robles, novelas de escritores peruanos jóvenes con mucha proyección. En torno a estas obras se organizaron una serie de actividades a lo largo de los semestres.

Del 2 al 8 de mayo, este festival reunió a conjuntos locales e invitados extranjeros provenientes de España, Estados Unidos, Italia, México y el Perú, con obras del repertorio renacentista y barroco de Europa y América Latina. Los conciertos se presentaron en la Iglesia Santa María Magdalena, en el Centro Cultural Inca Garcilaso, y en los auditorios del Instituto Peruano Norteamericano, el Museo de Arqueología, Antropología e Historia del Perú y la Facultad de Derecho de la PUCP.

INVENTARIO Y CATALOGACIÓN DE LOS BIENES CULTURALES DE LA PUCP Este proyecto tiene como misión identificar y registrar todos los objetos de valor patrimonial que se encuentran bajo posesión directa o en custodia de nuestra Universidad. Esto incluye colecciones de bienes muebles (objetos arqueológicos, históricos, artísticos, etnográficos, etc.) y bienes inmuebles (sitios arqueológicos, casonas históricas, etc.). En 2016 se creó una base de datos para cada una de las colecciones inventariadas y se inscribieron los objetos de valor patrimonial en el Registro Nacional de Bienes Culturales Muebles e Inmuebles del Ministerio de Cultura. Se publicó también el cuarto tomo de la serie “Tesoros culturales de la PUCP”, consistente en un catálogo de los principales objetos que conforman la colección Arturo Jiménez Borja del Museo de Artes y Tradiciones Populares. Asimismo, se efectuaron el inventario y la catalogación completa de todos los bienes culturales existentes en la Casa Julia Codesido, así como en la Casa O’Higgins. 52

EXPOARTE, 77º EXPOSICIÓN ANUAL DE LA FACULTAD DE ARTE En los primeros meses del año, en la galería del Centro Cultural PUCP, se realizó la 77 edición de esta gran exposición de artistas y diseñadores de nuestra Universidad, que ofrece al público una selección de sus mejores trabajos en distintas técnicas.

TERCER FESTIVAL DE LA PALABRA En la segunda quincena de octubre, se celebró por tercer año consecutivo este festival con conversatorios, talleres, muestras y otras actividades en torno a la palabra y a su ejercicio creativo. La conferencia inaugural, “El año de las letras: Cervantes, Shakespeare y Garcilaso”, contó con la participación del escritor Alonso Cueto, del psiconalista Max Hernández y del actor Alberto Isola. Entre los invitados internacionales estuvieron presentes los escritores Gabriela Alemán (Ecuador), Alex Ayala (España-Bolivia), Alejandra Costamagna (Chile), Alberto Chimal (México), Arturo Fontaine (Chile), Aramís Quintero (Cuba), Daniel Quiroga (Argentina), Hebe Uhart (Argentina) y Diego Zúñiga (Chile).

In PUCP we are aware of this and therefore constantly offer our support to cultural practices and to the promotion of culture in all of its dimensions, as well as spaces for such practices. XIV INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF ANCIENT MUSIC

This programme first appeared in late 2007 and it seeks to stimulate pleasurable reading through activities different from those usually carried out in university classrooms. The programme wishes to motivate an interdisciplinary, rich, and free dialogue, where participants may share and discuss their perceptions on books. The works chosen for 2016 were La distancia que nos separa by Renato Cisneros and Nuevos juguetes de la Guerra Fría by Juan Manuel Robles. Both are novels by young Peruvian authors with great potential. We organised a series of activities throughout both semesters around these novels.

From the 2nd to the 8th of May, this festival brought together local and foreign ensembles and musicians from Spain, USA, Italy, Mexico and Peru to play pieces out of the European and Latin-American renaissance and baroque repertoires. The venues of the concerts were the Santa María Magdalena Church, the Inca Garcilaso Cultural Centre, and the auditoriums of the Peruvian North-American Cultural Institute; of the Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru; and of PUCP’s School of Law.

PROJECT FOR THE INVENTORY AND CATALOGUE OF PUCP’S CULTURAL ESTATE

The aim of this project is to identify and register all objects of cultural value currently owned or guarded by our University. It includes collections of movable assets (archaeological, historical, artistic, ethnographic, etc.) and immovable assets (archaeological sites, historic mansions, etc.). In 2016 a database was created for each of the collections in the inventory and the objects of cultural value were registered in the National Register of Cultural Movable and Immovable Assets of the Ministry of Culture. In addition, the fourth volume of the “PUCP’s Cultural Treasures” series was published. This volume consists of a catalogue of the most important objects in the Arturo Jiménez Borja Collection of the Popular Arts and Traditions Museum. Finally, the complete inventory and catalogue of all cultural assets in the Julia Codesido and O’Higgins Mansions was carried out.

EXPOART, 77TH ANNUAL EXHIBITION OF THE SCHOOL OF ART At the beginning of the year, the 77th Annual Exhibition of the School of Art was inaugurated at the gallery in PUCP’s Cultural Centre. This major event gathers artworks by artists and designers from our University and offers an overview of their best work in different techniques.

THIRD WORDS’ FESTIVAL In the second half of October, we celebrated this festival for the third consecutive year. It included panel discussions, workshops, exhibitions and other activities concerning words and their creative use. 20 FESTIVAL DE CINE DE LIMA PUCP La vigésima edición de este festival se llevó a cabo del 5 al 13 de agosto. Tanto la inauguración como la clausura tuvieron lugar en el Gran Teatro Nacional. Allí se rindió homenaje a Edgar Saba, exdirector del Festival y del Centro Cultural PUCP, y a Luc Dardenne, reconocido cineasta belga. Uno de los invitados especiales fue el destacado actor brasileño Lázaro Ramos. Con gran afluencia de público, además de las proyecciones en sala, se realizaron veintiún exhibiciones al aire libre y una muestra itinerante que comprendió cincuenta y tres espacios en Lima, Arequipa, Cajamarca, Cusco, Junín, Lambayeque, Piura y Trujillo. En total se efectuaron 314 proyecciones.

20TH LIMA FILM FESTIVAL The 20th Lima Film Festival took place from the 5th to the 13th of August, 2016. Both the inauguration and the closing ceremony were held in the Great National Theatre. This year the Festival paid homage to Edgar Saba, former director of the Festival and of PUCP’s Cultural Centre, and to Luc Dardenne, acclaimed Belgian filmmaker. One of the special guests was renowned Brazilian actor Lázaro Ramos. The event captivated a great audience and organised 21 outdoor film projections, besides the regular projections in film theatres. It also prepared an itinerant sample exhibited throughout 53 locations in Lima, Arequipa, Cajamarca, Cusco, Junín, Lambayeque, Piura, and Trujillo. There were a total of 314 projections.

er una institución académica no significa abstraerse de un manejo responsable y eficiente de los recursos materiales y humanos. Por el contrario, ella debe saber disponer de ellos y proyectarse en el tiempo para mantenerse en actividad, pero también para fortalecerse y crecer. En la PUCP contamos con diversas áreas de gestión que velan por el funcionamiento idóneo de todo el soporte logístico y la infraestructura que implica el desarrollo de la enseñanza y la investigación. A continuación, un compendio de las actividades más relevantes emprendidas en el terreno económico y administrativo.

GESTIÓN HUMANA Nuestra universidad imprime especial énfasis a la gestión del talento humano, en el marco de los estándares de excelencia que la caracterizan. Así, además de Clima Laboral y Línea de Carrera Administrativa, cuenta con una serie de programas (Sala-cuna, Lactario, Bebé PUCP, incentivos económicos y de estudios) que hacen que nuestra institución sea un espacio agradable y estimulante para el desempeño de sus colaboradores.

GESTIÓN AMBIENTAL Durante el año se avanzó en la adaptación al criterio de edificación sostenible de la infraestructura universitaria. Así, en octubre, se puso en marcha el proyecto piloto de compostaje de residuos de áreas verdes no leñosos, para lo cual se ubicaron tres contenedores en los jardines del área de influencia de los edificios de Arte Nuevo, Mac Gregor y Derecho. Asimismo, siguiendo con la implementación del Sistema de Gestión Ambiental basado en la Norma ISO 14001:2004, los esfuerzos estuvieron enfocados en realizar la evaluación del estado del cumplimiento legal, identificar brechas y establecer planes de trabajo para su ejecución el año siguiente.

GESTIÓN DE INFRAESTRUCTURA En 2016 se atendieron 296 proyectos de infraestructura, de los cuales 179 fueron aprobados con actividad de inversión. Entre las obras ejecutadas destacan la inauguración de la nueva Sala Cuna, que incrementó su capacidad en 50% e integró nuevas áreas; la ampliación del Edificio de Servicios Administrativos (6° y 7° piso), que ahora alberga a la nueva Dirección de Infraestructura y un área común para el trabajo colaborativo; la implementación del Laboratorio de Espectroscopia, con ambientes

y equipo necesario para el microanálisis; la ampliación del Data Center, que sumó a sus instalaciones un centro de procesamiento de datos en la zona norte del campus; así como la construcción de los talleres de Diseño Industrial, Escultura y Pintura, y la ampliación del Gimnasio. En cuanto a nuestro patrimonio arquitectónico y cultural, se realizó la construcción del Gabinete de Arqueología Huaca 20, cuya moderna infraestructura ofrece condiciones óptimas para la preservación, conservación y seguridad de los bienes; y la puesta en valor de la Huaca 64 mediante la iluminación del monumento, la construcción de una pasarela o mirador con un panel informativo, la recreación de réplicas colocadas en el monumento, y la instalación de un tótem informativo y paneles.

GESTIÓN LOGÍSTICA En las licitaciones de bienes, servicios y obras, se generó durante el año un margen significativo de ahorro. Lo mismo sucedió en los procesos para la adjudicación de bienes a través de adjudicación directa y compra directa. En cuanto a la gestión de compra de bienes, la eficiencia resultó superior a la del año pasado.

Se ejecutaron trabajos en diversos ámbitos para facilitar y agilizar la actividad académica y administrativa. Así, se optimizaron los sistemas de gestión a fin de permitir a las unidades académicas un mejor control y seguimiento del desempeño de los alumnos. También se incorporaron nuevas funcionalidades en el sistema de admisión a pre y posgrado, así como mejoras en el módulo de modificaciones de planes de estudios. he academic nature of our institution does not imply putting aside the responsible and efficient management of our human and material resources. On the contrary, academic institutions ought to be skillful in such management and be able to think and plan ahead in order not only to sustain themselves but also to grow and become stronger. PUCP is organised into different management areas that ensure the ideal operation of the logistics and infrastructure required by teaching and research. We offer next a summary of the most important administrative and financial activities of our institution.

HUMAN MANAGEMENT Our University pays special attention to the management of human talent, within the framework of the excellence standards that characterise our institution. Thus, the University has, besides the Work Environment and the Administrative Career Line programmes, a series of programmes (DayNursery, Lactation Room, PUCP Baby, study and financial incentives) that makes our institution a friendly and stimulating environment for our employees.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT During this year, progress was made in adapting our infrastructure to the standards of sustainable building. Hence we launched in October the pilot composting project for non-ligneous garden waste. For this purpose, three containers were placed on the gardens near the New Arts Building, the Mac Gregor Building and the School of Law Building. Additionally, and in accordance with the Environmental Management System based on the ISO 14001:2004, our efforts were focused on assessing the level of legal compliance, identifying gaps, and establishing plans for the implementation of the system in the following year.

With regard to our architectonic and cultural estate, the Huaca 20 Archaeology Cabinet was built: its modern infrastructure offers optimum conditions for the preservation, conservation, and security of the estate. In addition, a series of measures was taken to improve the accessibility of the Huaca 64: lighting the monument, building a walkway and viewpoint with an information board, displaying models of the monument, and placing an information totem alongside information boards.

LOGISTIC MANAGEMENT The calls for tender for goods, services and works generated a significant margin for savings. This was also the case for the processes of purchase of goods through direct award and direct purchase. The management of processes of purchase of goods was more efficient than in the previous year.

INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT

IT MANAGEMENT

During 2016, a total of 296 infrastructure projects were evaluated, 179 of which were approved as investment activities. Some highlights amongst the executed projects were the opening of the new Day-Nursery, which increased its capacity by 50% and inaugurated new areas; the expansion of the Building for Administrative Services (6th and 7th storeys), which now holds the new Direction for Infrastructure and a common area for teamwork; the setting up of the Spectroscopy Laboratory with the necessary areas and equipment for

PHYSICAL SECURITY MANAGEMENT GESTIÓN DE LA SEGURIDAD FÍSICA Como parte del cumplimiento de la normativa de seguridad ocupacional, se capacitó a 1,030 colaboradores PUCP, 8,126 miembros del personal de contratistas en aula y 1,857 in situ, y 229 brigadistas en primeros auxilios, evacuación y respuesta contra incendios. Se inició igualmente el proceso de adquisición del sistema de circuito cerrado de televisión para el campus universitario, lo cual brindará una seguridad más integral y efectiva.

GESTIÓN FINANCIERA Dentro de este ámbito, la gestión presupuestal es un aspecto importante y complejo en el que participan diferentes actores. Desde su descentralización en 2003, ella ha evolucionado en cantidad, diversidad de tipos de actividades y necesidad de asesoramiento técnico por parte de las unidades. En esa línea y con el fin de de mejorar los procesos existentes y las normativas, en 2016 se hizo efectiva la creación de dos directivas en la Comisión Central de Presupuesto: una dirigida a los presupuestos de inversión y la otra a los presupuestos operativos.

As part of the compliance with occupational safety regulation, 1 030 PUCP employees received training. In addition, 8 126 members of contractor’s personnel were trained in classrooms, while 1 857 were trained on-site. Furthermore, 229 brigade members received first aid, evacuation and fire safety training. The acquisition of a closed-circuit television system for the Campus was initiated: this will provide more effective and comprehensive security.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Budget management is an important and complex part of financial management in which different agents participate. Since its decentralisation in 2003, budget management has evolved in its quantity, diversity of activities, and need for technical support. In attention to this and with the aim of improving current processes and rules, two directives were issued in 2016 by the Central Budget Commission: one of them aimed at investment budgets, the other one at operation budgets.
