Early Childhood Advanced Standing Program
About This Program:
The Early Childhood Advanced Standing Program leads to a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Bank Street College and New York State Certification in Early Childhood, Birth through Grade 2.
This 30 credit, 16-month program, for experienced early childhood educators, starts in the fall.
With approval, educators may be able to enter the master’s program with six credits towards their degree, leaving them 24 credits to earn at Bank Street.
Through this competency-based, cohort program, you will become well grounded in child development by closely observing children and engaging them in active learning in your current teaching position.
As an experienced teacher, this program will help you build on your current understanding that learning comes in the form of play, social interaction, and sensory experiences, as well as through engagement in the world of literacy, literature, mathematics, science, arts, and social studies.
Criteria for Admissions:
In addition to the main admissions criteria, there are additional requirements needed to apply for this program:
• You must be a head or assistant teacher in an early childhood classroom in an Union or Grand Street Settlement Program.
• You will need to show depth in the liberal arts and sciences.
Bank Street gave me an opportunity to earn my degree in education and because of the quality program experience, I have found my niche. Attending Bank Street opened the doors for me to explore greater opportunities.
