Our Transfer and Commuter Center offers programming and individualized assistance to help you navigate the academic, social and financial aspects of university life while also celebrating your achievements along the way.

Help yourself to coffee or hot chocolate, use the microwave and charge your phone, study for an exam, relax between classes and pick up a few free school supplies while you’re at it.

Attend a Free Throw Friday event or one of our Grab & Go Breakfasts. If you are an online student, join our ONline and INvolved community for get-togethers on your lunch hour. You can get involved no matter how much time you have available or to spare.

FLEXIBLE ONLINE TUTORING. ANYTIME, ANYWHERE.

Can’t make it to the Writing Center? No problem! You can meet with a tutor online, perfect for those enrolled in online courses or unable to visit in person.

SEAMLESS TRANSFERS

UNCP partners with community and junior colleges to simplify your transfer into select degree programs. These officially approved guides detail how your coursework transfers to UNCP, ensuring a smooth transition. The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement, established by the University of North Carolina System, governs the transfer specifics between North Carolina Community Colleges and UNC institutions, streamlining your academic journey.

CASE

WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY (CWRU) SCHOOL OF LAW

Upon acceptance into CWRU Law School, a UNCP graduate will receive a scholarship, stipend and additional benefits provided by CWRU Law School.

EAST CAROLINA UNIVERSITY (ECU) BRODY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE (BSOM) EARLY ASSURANCE PROGRAM

Two of the 80 seats in the entering BSOM class are reserved four years in advance for outstanding students attending UNCP for their undergraduate program. Students selected as an Early Assurance student at BSOM will receive a four-year merit scholarship.

EAST CAROLINA UNIVERSITY PUBLIC HEALTH

Provides an easier path for UNCP graduates to matriculate to degree and certificate programs offered by ECU’s Department of Public Health. ECU offers Master of Public Health and Doctor of Public Health degrees and an online certificate.

EAST CAROLINA SCHOOL OF DENTAL MEDICINE (SoDM) EARLY ASSURANCE PROGRAM

Guarantees admission of UNCP students into the SoDM Doctor of Dental Medicine program, upon meeting specific criteria and requirements. One of the 52 seats in the SoDM will be reserved three years in advance for outstanding students entering UNCP as first-year students.

THE INSTITUTE OF WORLD POLITICS (IWP)

Qualified students receive $2,200 guaranteed scholarship per semester for IWP’s in-person academic programs, if accepted within IWP admission guidelines, upon graduation from UNCP. Additional merit-based scholarships, paid internships and work-study positions are also available.

METHODIST UNIVERSITY PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

Methodist will reserve a maximum of two seats in the program for qualified UNCP graduates who are identified as American Indians.

NC STATE UNIVERSITY 3+2 DUAL-DEGREE ENGINEERING PROGRAM (Electrical or Mechanical)

Students attend UNCP for three years majoring in applied physics. After the successful completion of all requirements, students attend NC State University’s College of Engineering for two years to complete a second degree in either electrical or mechanical engineering.

NC STATE UNIVERSITY 3+2 DUAL-DEGREE ENGINEERING PROGRAM (Civil or Environmental) Attend UNCP for three years majoring in geo-environmental science. After the successful completion of all requirements, students attend NC State University’s College of Engineering for two years to complete a second degree in either civil or environmental engineering.

TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY PRE-VETERINARY MEDICINE SCHOLARS PROGRAM

This program serves as a pipeline to prepare and inspire talented UNCP undergraduate students who wish to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Under this MOU, each year two qualified UNCP students from the Department of Biology will be guaranteed acceptance in the Tuskegee School of Veterinary Medicine.

UNC SYSTEM VETERINARY EDUCATION ACCESS SCHOLARS (UNC-SVEA) PROGRAM

This program allows for two students, plus one alternate, from each first-year class entering the NC State School of Veterinary Medicine to be selected from the UNCP Department of Biology. All UNC-SVEA Scholar students will be required to complete all academic requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree at UNCP, as well as meet all academic requirements for admission to NCSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

UNC ESHELMAN SCHOOL OF PHARMACY (ESOP) EARLY ASSURANCE PROGRAM

This program offers early assurance of admission into the UNC ESOP Doctor of Pharmacy Program after a minimum of two years of undergraduate study at UNCP.

ALEXIS LITTLE

UNCP biology major Alexis Little was moved to tears as she read her official acceptance letter to Methodist University's physician assistant program.

"I immediately started crying. I've always known I wanted to be a public servant and, as a physician, I can offer people in my community a better quality of life through healthcare. By getting accepted to PA school, I'll have the opportunity to follow my dreams."

Little considers it an honor to be selected for the reputable program and credits the support and quality education she received at UNCP.

After completing an internship with Dr. Charlene Locklear, a UNCP alumnae and owner of TruCare Family Practice, Little is leaning toward a career in family medicine.

Award determinations for merit scholarships are based on the student’s prior academic qualifications.

INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Friends, faculty, alumni, corporations and foundations have provided funds to aid students in the pursuit of academic achievement. A wide range of endowed scholarships and other awards are available, some with specific restrictions.

COMPASS SCHOLARSHIP

This program provides scholarships to talented biology, chemistry, biotechnology and environmental science majors in their sophomore, junior and senior years. Visit uncp.edu/compass to apply.

NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTS

Need-based scholarships and grants are available to support students in their education. All students who file a FAFSA will be considered for these institutional, state and federal funds.

NEXT NC SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship combines the federal Pell Grant with the state-funded financial aid program to form a simplified and predictable scholarship award that’s easier to understand and makes education more affordable for most North Carolinians. The best part? It’s money that doesn’t have to be repaid.

Combining NC Promise, which makes undergraduate tuition only $500 per semester for in-state students and $2,500 per semester for out-of-state students, with the Next NC Scholarship provides major cost savings!

TRANSFER REQUIREMENTS

Students who attended a college or university after graduating from high school should apply for admission as a transfer applicant and meet the following requirements:

• 2.0 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA)

• Students under the age of 21 will also be expected to meet the UNC System minimum admission requirements for freshmen

HOW TO APPLY

• Apply at uncp.edu/apply.

• A decision can be made off an unofficial transcript. But, official coursework cannot be entered until all official transcripts have been received.

• Send your official transcript to admissions@uncp.edu. Official transcripts can be ordered through Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse

NEXT STEPS (FOR ADMITTED STUDENTS)

• Access your BraveWeb account. BraveWeb is your digital gateway to a central self-service hub and your student email account known as BraveMail. You will receive many important communications to your BraveMail account, so be sure to check it regularly.

• Register for the required New Student Orientation, a comprehensive program designed to introduce you to campus life, academic resources and countless opportunities.

• Once you’ve registered for orientation, the New Student Orientation office will quickly notify you via BraveMail with instructions for scheduling a virtual advising and course registration appointment. Before your appointment, it’s a great idea to review your degree pathway, choose courses you’re interested in and submit all final transcripts to Undergraduate Admissions. If you haven’t received final transcripts yet, have unofficial ones and any available credit by examination scores ready to access during your appointment. If you decide to change your major before enrolling, simply email Undergraduate Admissions beforehand at admissions@uncp.edu. Remember, booking your virtual advising and registration appointment is an essential step before attending orientation.
